Ruth, I would think that the older (meaning all except for the movie that airs next Saturday) Signed Sealed and Delivered episodes would be on youtube by now. Think there is a 2 year gap since the last episode was released, giving plenty of time to get the episodes on youtube. The 4 main characters are quirky and their personality glitches are irritating until you get to know them a bit. Now i enjoy them…even with their quirky glitches. I hope you can find a way to watch the movies. Think its a great idea to make a quilted mat for your Christmas tree!! Go for it.
Funny just the other day I was joking with Dd about when I should put up the Christmas tree. Ok, I will wait until into November, after that all bets are off. Mind you, with the waterproofing project in December, I will need to empty the crawl space which is where the tree is stored. So it makes sense that I get that out and bring it upstairs where the tree will be put this year. (I had it upstairs last year also). I did finish another ornament last night- except for the button and the hanger. I plan on getting to Joanns later on this week to pick those items up.
Hope to get a flu shot today at some point. Just one more thing to check off my list. And will hopefully get some yard work done when the sun comes up.

Quiet here, but I figure everyone will stop in later.
I am used to just walking in for my flu shot, no appointment necessary. Not so this year. I had to make an appointment which I was unable to do at the CVS in my town, or even the next town over. So I made an appointment for later on this week when I can combine it with a trip to BJ’s and another errand I have to do. Got some yard work done today, cleaned up a bit around the house and of course, wasted a bunch of time to register for the vaccine appointment. So it was a busy day. I did get some crafting in- which was cutting the plain bases (little round pillows) needed for more star ornaments. Now that I sort of have the process figured out, I will make 8 bases…..and then can easily go into making another 8 ornaments. I was reluctant to do that until I knew the pattern from the youtube worked out well.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all well Ginny - I guess a lot of people are scheduling flu shots now, or maybe with the covid shots the drug store's appointments fill up quickly. I'm glad you can get your shot later this week. Sounds like you are making good progress on the ornaments. The newest Mini Sewing Bee monthly block came out today - an easy rail fence - so I went ahead and made my 4 blocks for this month. I guess this runs through December and I hope she gives an idea of a layout because I'm not sure what to do with these blocks. The next Pat Sloan block came out today too. I think I know what fabrics I want to use so I starched and pressed them already, but still need to cut and assemble the block. This one is large (over 12 inches) like last week's block, so it's a bit more work. I didn't get back to my hand quilting today, but hopefully I'll get more done this week. Hope you area all getting to do some crafting. Take care!

Ginny, sorry you went to those stores and were still unable to get the flu shot. On all the stores that give vaccines here they say online that they will take walk ins but when I called none had walkins. Walgreens said that last week they didn't accept walk ins but this week they will.Even on their door last week they said they would take walkins but once inside they said they wouldn't. And yes, it seems as though it's always best to try a pattern first to see if it's actually going to work before you dive in and do a bunch of parts for starting and then find out you can't even do the rest.
CJ, it sounds like you're going to be busy with your new quilt along groups. In that one time that I went to that series of quilting lessons that was another part the instructor left out. She didn't tell us to go home, wash, starch, and iron our fabric. She also said that for a rail fence just grab a bunch of fabric...whatever ones you want in your block...and sew long strips together and then cut to size and, voila...you have a stack of blocks. Is that they way you do it?
Well I spent the day cooking and making another apple pie. I also made chili and cut up a bunch of veggies to put with the beef roast in the slow cooker when it's thawed. DH will do that part in the night...dumping it into the cooker and seasoning it and hopefully turning it on. It will be for him for tomorrow and for however many days it lasts.I don't care at all for beef made that way so I'll have something else. Then the kitchen cleanup. Dh mentioned a couple other things I could make...I don't think so...not today anyway. Then I went to crocheting and decided to make simple yet very cute santa hats.I'll make the ones for those in INdiana first so I can mail them with the birthday gifts then I'll make the rest. And truth be told, I don't know if I'll get to the Baby Sharks or not. They're for the children here and in Montana but so are some of the hats so we'll see how it goes. They might get them later. It'll be like the Christmas gifts from last year that they ended up getting in the beginning of June of this year.
It's cold here today and will be all week. It rained but during the night it will snow. I forgot to answer when you asked CJ, about storms. I didn't hear anything about storms but I did hear it would snow, just not how much. High tomorrow of 33.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well Ruth - Did you get much snow? Your baking and cooking sounds good, I'm sure your DH enjoys it. I rarely use my slow cooker and I'd really like to use it more this winter. It was cloudy and misty here today and we're having a light rain now. I did go out earlier and ran a few errands but was back home by mid-morning. I was glad to get off the road, there are such crazy drivers here I changed my mind on a few of the fabrics for the Happy Everything (Pat Sloan) block for this week. I'm really not happy with the fabrics I have for this quilt along, which is too bad since I bought the fat quarter bundle specifically for it. Some of the fabrics have a very "white" looking background and some have more of an "off-white" background and when you put those 2 fabrics next to each other I don't think it looks good. I'm going to focus on using more of the "white" looking fabrics since my background fabric I'm using is white. At least I'm ready to cut the fabrics now and hope to get it pieced in the next few days. The new quilt along Fall Frolic starts tomorrow so they'll be a block to make for that. If I find one of these quilt alongs is just too much for me, I'll just quit, but I hope I can keep going. Take care everyone!

CJ- I am always amazed at how you are able to keep track of the quilt alongs and different projects you take on. totally agree on the use of whites and off white- pick one and stick with it, unless there is a fabric in that grouping that manages to tie it all together. Yes Rail fences are easy….but so pretty.
Ruth, took a quick look at my phone and it sounds like you could be in for a LOT of snow. (Seems early for that….). Stay safe, and I hope that you are all ready for crummy weather. That pot roast you Made is perfect for winter weather…bet that apple pie smells incredible too.
I only went into one CVS for a flu shot- the others I visited online. Babysat today….kids were pretty good. Hope I can have a relaxing evening. Ginny

CJ, I agree with you and Ginny, Using a white and off white is not a good idea because the pure white will make the off white just look dingy
Ginny, I'm glad the children were good for you. They sound like very well behaved children. We did get snow during the night and part of today. The forecast for tomorrow seems to differ depending on where you look. Some say 9 inches, some say 12 and yet others say there won't be much. I'm leaning toward there probably won't be much. Most of the time the forecasts for a lot of snow end up being wrong.
I did get some crocheting in today and plan on getting in more. I finished the first Christmas hat then this morning started another but then I started some fingerless gloves for myself since dh is always after me to use some since my fingers turn all red and blue and even end up having open spots due to the cold. I think you also said you have Raynauds didn't you Ginny? It's not so bad on fingers and toes but when the tip of your nose gets looking like you have leperosy then people start looking at you funny. Unfortunately there's no way to keep your nose warm. Not a big deal though since I mostly stay home

Good morning !!! Ruth, well hope that the lower amount of snow is what you got…although weather predictions are notorious for being off. It seems so early for a major snow, but I know upstate snow is not unusual in a week or so. Guess it feels off to me because this fall has been unusually warm. Glad you are making yourself a pair of fingerless gloves. yes, they would be helpful if you had raynauds, which is frustrating to live with. My raynauds is strange and makes little sense. I can have one hand that is completely normal temperature and the other freezing. Thankfully I do not have to deal with that very often. Yes the kids were pretty good for me. Funny how DD’s first two were a bit demanding and difficult, and these younger two are pretty easy.
Hope to get some crafting in later on today….got a few errands to fun this am. Ginny

Looks like everyone is busy here…
Today I was home less than I had hoped….trained this am and then went to visit with my friend and her Dh….its his birthday today. Was good to spend time with them, then I heard from Dd#2 that she and her Dh were coming to my town to go apple picking.. Ds and I met her at the orchard, and we had a good time picking apples..such a nice time of year.
Think I will settle in a bit, take a shower and see what is on TV that is worth watching.

Ginny, it sounds as though you had a busy but also enjoyable day. I do miss the apples and other produce grown in NY. In the fall it was always fun to go to the farmer's stands and buy things right out of the field..I especially enjoyed buying different kinds of squashes. And I'm sure you enjoyed the visit with your friends
Well I had this strange idea that my dining room would be the easiest room to clean. It took me forever just to work on the two cabinets where I have knick knacks and other "collectibles" taking them all out and dusting them as well as the polishing shelves and cleaning glass. Each of the two cabinets has four large glass "doors" that lift upward and I have a bad habit of leaving them open so the dust really collects there on the glass and inside.I also have things displayed on the top where dust is all the time. So the rest of the dining room will wait another day. Before I did that I, as usual, spent too much time looking at work the people in the crochet groups have been making. And after I did that work in the dining room I started crocheting. Of course there was the time in the middle of those two things in which I made biscuits and cleaned up the kitchen.

Ruth, your day was productive for sure….and its funny how many (myself including) seem to sabotage ourselves by leaving doors open etc…. Allowing dust to get in and make cleaning worse than it needs to be. Ironic how the other day I looked at my dining room and realized I needed to also clean the doors and shelving of the china closet. I forget, do you make your biscuits gluten free?? ( biscuits are so good!!).
I did embroider a bit last night…. Woke up to hear an animal barking outside- either a bear or a deer….will have to check the internet and see which sound I was hearing.
CJ- how was your day?? Think we have cooler temps headed in another few days…..but its still pretty warm. Hope you got some quilting time in.
Phyl- how are you feeling?are you doing any fall decorating?
Sue-wonder if you will get to any crocheting , last year you had some really pretty yarn you were working with, did you finish that project?

I love seeing wildlife but I'm glad we don't have bears here. The other day we discovered a hole that was obviously dug by a badger hunting for hornet nests. He left the pieces of it after he was done eating the contents..they are viscious little creatures. The poor yellow jackets were ousted from their nest and we are gathered on some thistle plants. I was going to go out the next day and spray them...both the yellow jackets and the thistles... but the snow came and hopefully they all froze. As it turned out we may have got about 4 inches of snow. I'm not good at estimating. an
CJ, you must be working on all those quilt blocks.
Phyl, I hope you're doing ok
I did get some crocheting done. I finished the second fingerless glove but I have to go back and add to the first glove as it doen't cover much of my finger. I like to have them so that they come up higher thann most patterns call for. Then I started another Christmas hat.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well and having some nice weather. After several days of cloudy weather it's finally sunny here. I've had headaches every day this week and the one yesterday was bad to the point that it made me sick. After resting for several hours I did feel better. So far today I don't have one but kind of feel like I could get one. It's funny, I'll go for weeks without headaches and then I get them several days in a row. When I was feeling alright I did finish my second block for the Happy Everything quilt along and my first block for the Fall Frolic quilt along. I hadn't mentioned it, but I'm going to try to do two different versions of the Fall Frolic (yes, I know you think I'm crazy ). The Fall Frolic is only 9 blocks and they are usually pretty easy, so I'll get to use some pretty Fall fabric and get 2 quilt tops out of it. I'll share some pictures below. If I keep feeling alright I'm hoping to get to some hand quilting today. Hope you all get to do some crafting too. Take care! Happy Everything Blocks 1 and 2: Fall Frolic Block #1
