Welcome to Alcohol Free Is What We Want To Be! .. We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE!
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE FOR HALLOWEEN? September 5 - October 31
CIRCLE September 5 on the calendar. Now CIRCLE October 31 on the calendar. This is your 8 week AF Halloween challenge. For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself. Organize yourself healthy, organize your grocery shopping, ORGANIZE!
Do you fancy yourself a witch? a ghoul? a ?? How about visualizing yourself as a happier, healthier person? Envision your costumeâŚexcept it wonât be a costume, it will be you!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been lousy so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. If you decide to have a drink, donât beat yourself upâŚ.this is a hard journey! Keep in mind you donât have to finish the bottle, you donât have to finish a bag of cookiesâŚyou have controlâŚnow you have to believe it!
Some of us canât have âspiritsâ in the houseâŚthat can take a whole lot of self control. There are lots of tricks and ways to avoid A but essentially many of us bring an OCD attitudeâŚ..usually defined as obsessive compulsive disorder... to stay AF but for this challenge OCD meansâŚ.Ongoing Celebration of Discovery! We can discover and celebrate ourselves!! And we don't need alcohol or excessive food to do it!
So what are you going to be for Halloween? A much healthier, happier person sounds like a great plan and it won't be a costume! Great success!

Hi girls. Into my âbusyâ week! đ Monday I enjoyed Rylee, even though I only had a few hours of sleep. B12 shot kept me up. But I have slept better the rest of the week. Yesterday I went to my pool class and then went to my friends funeral. It means so much to people to have you come. I think I had only seen her and her husband once in 30 years. But the look on his face when he saw me there was definitely worth the effort. Today Iâm going to walk and then we have our first womenâs Bible study since the pandemic! đ And tonight is choir. I am maintaining in spite of horrible eating. Thankful for that small gift. It wonât keep up if I donât start eating better. New WW week. That always helps. Last night before bed I was reading in the Psalms. One verse jumped off the page. Psalm 19:13. Keep your servant from deliberate sins. Donât let them control me. OUCH!!!
Cindy: I hope you had a good nights sleep. Do you like this new âfriendâ? What is on your to do list today?
Cathy: Iâm sorry you canât get together with your friends. Do you ever just talk on the phone? Old concept, I know! Lol
Carole: Iâm glad Ty got to play! Jack had a baseball tournament this past weekend too. Along with football. Along with Addi having a soccer game! They are definitely a sports family! I know their dad, my DS, will be glad when all the running is over for awhile! But they are the ones that keep signing them up!
Amy: Beautiful picture! Is DS there now? So many times I hurriedly skim through posts and donât retain what I read!
Murphy: YAY!! Did you enjoy your walk? Iâm still SLOWLY adding more steps and time! I know what happens if I donât!
Jan: I loved the picture with your shutters! I know you are getting excited about spending time with ds! Mine FaceTimed me yesterday! I love it when he âwantsâ to talk!
Liz: Isabel is so cute!! Doesnât your heart just melt when youâre with her? â¤ď¸
Have a great day folks!

After DH & I walked at the lake, we drove to plant store that was supposed to be having a big sale. The sale consisted of 50% off dead looking plants in the middle of a puddle, but it was fun looking at all the cute yard ornaments. They did have a pretty good price on pansies, so I may go back when the time comes to plant them. I had noticed a sign on the way to the plant store pointing the way to a campground/ day use area, so we went to find it on the way back. It was a park on Lake Allatoona with a boat ramp, similar to some of the other parks we've been to, although this one was a state park. When we got back, I had lunch, rested on the couch for a while, then put together a shelving unit for my herb's winter home. I really like how it looks.
The weather has been really nice, today started out very foggy. We've been to walk already today, stopped at Home Depot on the way home for one of their cute metal "fall" signs for the front yard.
Jan- WTG getting yours steps, AF/AIM, blue dot, rollovers, self insight regarding portion sizes. Glad you've got closing the cabin checked off your list. My email project will take a while, I've got hundreds of emails in folders. The squirrel picture came from FB.
Murphy- Woohoo for going for a walk. I'm sure you will enjoy your audio books.
Carole- Glad Ty was doing well in his baseball game. GL with Juno's training. Our eldest DS is coming next Tuesday.
Cindy- Hugs!
Cathy- Hope you enjoyed your Montblanc class. We use Outlook email at work. According to the email from corporate the purpose of deleting the folders is to reduce cybersecurity risks and cost.
GG- GL with your busy week! DS is coming next week.

My sister goes in for surgery Friday morning. She drives to Sacramento for her covid-19 test Thursday morning and will spend the night to be there early Friday to be admitted. Hoping the ovarian cysts and fibroids will be easily removed and all be benign. It is cooler here and windy. I am wearing a sweater and can't believe the change and autumn being here. I have one pair of pants hemmed and new elastic in so will do the next pair tomorrow and so on till I get them done. I wonder if I will ever wear them as they are rather light weight for winter...ah well...won't 'wear them at all if they are too long so will just go with it as a project to do.
No alcohol in the house except the bottle waiting for my daughter to visit.
