The current temperature is 54º. That's 10-15º lower than I like it. What is your favorite temperature, Connie?
The sewing room is ready to use again. (I've been scooting furniture around -- and around.) There are one or two patterns I'd like to cut out and sew. Hate to waste my time, but I may make one shirt in a size to fit the twins. If they don't wear it, I won't do it again unless they ask.

The current temperature is our high for today - 55 degrees. Sun is out though & the wind has died down so doesn't feel too bad. I turned the furnace on for a while this morning too & I put a heavier pair of socks on today - new ones that I got for my birthday from a friend & they are so warm.
I made taco soup this afternoon. It is a super easy recipe & not real spicy. DH doesn't eat it - it's too hot for him. DS is gone this weekend so it is all mine:)
Yesterday's PT was a little disappointing. It was time for me to do a function evaluation. I'm thinking Medicare probably requires that. Each question had a numerical value. My total was exactly the same as when I first started therapy. That didn't surprise me cause I haven't felt it was helping like the other times when I went. I got the feeling the therapist has no more tricks in her bag to try & help me either but I did sign up for two more weeks. She suggested I may want to consult a neurological surgeon who only works on spines. She thought the spurs between the affected vertebrae may be able to be removed & that would relieve the pressure on the nerve. She said if he can do that, it is a non-invasive surgery. I may make an appointment to talk to him but I'm not keen on the idea of having any back surgery. However I don't wish to live with this pain the rest of my life. She assured me this procedure is not like normal back surgery. I'll think about it but won't rush into anything. I'm not accustomed to not feeling 100%.
Then this morning I had another doctor appointment with the nephrologist. The doctor was very pleased with my lab results. What was low & needed to be higher came up, & the high ones went down. Kidney function is better & within normal range for my age. For the past months urinalysis has shown a low grade UTI. I told him my bladder doesn't empty when I go & he said that could cause the UTI report as I have no symptoms. I'm to drink plenty of water. I feel better about that now. I will see him in 6 months & he wants me to get another ultra sound of my kidney's to check on the cysts that I have. I've been concerned about the possibility of dialysis down the road but he doubts that I will ever have go on dialysis. I needed this good report after yesterday's PT visit.

I am strange I know but I like summer to be around 80° not of fan of humidity, I am so uncomfortable with it. and love cool pool water. Fall is fine with 70's and I love love winter. snow and blowing, no freezing rain , please and temps to anywhere to zero but no lower than that. winter coats, boots , sweaters etc. never wear a hat and seem to lose more gloves as I am always taking them off.!!
Okay now you know what a goof ball I am.
Marlene my friend has had so many UTI's finally a new Dr told her to bend over when on pot and lets the bladder empty itself. She said it is amazing how much it has helped. Simple trick!!

Today was a pretty much do nothing day. I sorted some papers and cleaned a little in the bathroom. Yesterday I cleaned some baseboards in the kitchen. I need to clean the baseboards in the TV room, but there is always tomorrow. I got a new glucose monitor and spend some time this morning getting it set up. It will be a learning curve.

Since we've touched on this bladder issue -- have any of you ever asked why the surgeon, during a hysterectomy, doesn't tie the bladder where it is supposed to stay? Seems like all women who have hysterectomies eventually have this issue.
Nancy, getting a new appliance is a sharp learning curve. Then, occasionally, the directions are translated by someone who doesn't really know the American English language . . . . That makes things even more crazy. Good luck with that monitor!

Bobbie did walk Shana today but not very far. She said Shana kept walking into her crutches. She was able to bathe Jim tho' so that is good. I loaned her the walker that I used when I fractured my ankle. And, I texted her to make sure she makes an appt. to have the xrays done.
Tucking you all in now in our BLANKETS WHICH ARE BROWN WITH A HUGE SMILING PUMPKIN IN THE MIDDLE.....sweet dreams!
