WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Big drama today - I was soaking something in the sink in our laundry room and never turned off the water. It overflowed for several hours. We had a company in with an outrageous estimate - close to $4000. We have to worry about mold but what they were going to do was ridiculous. Three days with fans and humidifiers and heaven knows what else. We ended up sending them away after paying a $250 service charge. I'm thinking of just ripping it all up and buying new carpeting. We have to think it all out tomorrow. It's late.
I’m happy for Saturday, even though it’s a rainy one. I ate mostly as usual yesterday but wanted some ice cream. I had 3 big scoops and have no regrets. I have to go pick up our old mic and a new headset today so will go to lunch with DH in Kent. We don’t go to Kent often so it’s a treat when we do. Fun college town with lots of cool restaurants.
Meg, the Orgain shakes are lower in protein - 20g vs 30 - but also lower in calories. They’re a great option on the go.
Lori, I’m so sorry. It doesn’t make sense, does it?
Nancy, I guess this is your money to the devil for the year. What a pain. The cleanup company sounds like the place Nick worked for very briefly recently, but as in your case, it was 24/7 and more hours (60-70) than he cared to work each week. You’ll definitely want to run fans in the effected area for several days. Hopefully things seem less overwhelming this morning.
C59. D1. Hope springs eternal. Scale the same this week.
Nancy- darn in the water overflow! Who needs another project.
Jan - enjoy your day in Kent.
Lori - so sorry for the loss if your friend.
Meg - I bought monkfruit sugar substitute and devised my own chocolate pudding recipe. Couple cups+ of low-fat milk, heaping blob of real cocoa, smaller blob monkfruit sweetener, heaping spoon of cornstarch, glug of vanilla. Cook. Delicious!! Amazing!! Followed by a headache. It made 4 servings and I had the same reaction every time :-(
Might try again - lol. 3 points per serving and it's like eating frosting.
So... As if I don't have enough in my life, we opened an Airbnb at the little farmstead new purchased. First guests last night. airbnb.com/h/cozy-prairie-farmstead
On our way to a cancer walk that’s in honor of our friend, benefiting a close friend of hers that is also battling cancer that is less off financially. It’s about 2 hours away, just glad their is something we can do to show our support.
Nancy, what a mess, so sorry to hear. Hope you have help cleaning it up...I know for me, I can not have caffeine after 12:00, otherwise, I fall asleep fine but wake in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep. wondering if it was your culprit, especially since your body is use to no caffeine...
Jan, I really enjoyed visiting Kent during a college visit with DD. Enjoy your day! Ice cream sounded yummy!! I’ll have to look st those shakes again. When I first looked I thought they were higher calories...
Kathy, glad to see your post! Wishing you lots of success with the Airbnb! I’ll be checking it out, once I’m home... Thanks for the pudding recipe!
Meg, Hope your weekend is off to a good start!
Nancy, your so right - all we can do is be our Healthiest self..... Have a good day Everyone!

Jan - I thought the closet took care of the devil this year <g>. We have a nice new closet, now we'll have nice new carpeting since it's our decision to rip it all out and start over. It's been something like 18 years so it's time. They're coming with samples (4000 they say) Monday afternoon and can install Tuesday. When life hands you lemons... Your mention of 3 scoopes of ice cream got me to consider a yummy looking slice of NY style cheese cake, freshly made each day, at my pizza place. I'll wait til Ed agrees to share it one day.
Kathy - I can't believe the air bnb is already up and running. I guess we are made of the same stuff. Our pet shop went from a dream picture (in smoke enders course) to an open store within 10 weeks. Best of luck with it.
Lori - The walk is a perfect way to show support. And what a beautiful day for it. I'm sure it was the caffeine. Today I brought back the last packet of caffe latte and traded it for a new flavor "cinnamon roll". Sounds interesting. Picked up some more peach while I was at it. That was the only other choice I could live with.
Day 236. Things are going well - love it when it seems so effortless. Grateful. Played racquetball with DD and 2 grandsons. Had a great time.
Lori: I'm so sorry about your friend. May she and her family treasure each day they have.
Nancy: So sorry for the aggravation. Perhaps you could rent a dehumidifier or something? After you pull up the carpet. Sigh.
Kathy: Maybe you're allergic to monk fruit? I've never used it, but I've heard it's a healthy option. Except for you. ;-) And y'know: the scale not moving is a WIN, from a certain point of view. But Airbnb: oy. I can't even.
