Thanks for the start, Chele. To say you were an early bird today would be a bit of an understatement. Weather-related issues keeping you awake? Sweetest Day isn't celebrated around here. I never figured out why it's just not celebrated on February 14th. What was on your agenda today? Did you get any rain? We got about 1/2" overnight.
Kathy, the irony of the horrible call at the Giants game was that essentially the same thing ended our season 1 game out of making the wildcard in 2020. Talk about Yogi Berra's "deja vu all over again". I heard from some fans there that other fans at the game were pretty badly behaved after the game. Unfortunate. Thanks for the BBCA info on Doctor Who. I'll need a review of last year as well. I guess you saw that Clemson only beat Syracuse by a field goal last night. They should make it into a bowl but it won't be one they are used to being a part of. Hope UCF has a good outing against Cincinnati. Should be a good opportunity for the freshman QB to do a little growing up.
Are you going to try to reorganize the garage while the weather is cooler, Linda? How long did you have to sit in line at the food drive to drop off your items? I can see why the items you mentioned would be in demand for people of meager means.
Not much happening here today. Texas football game is on. Dale ran some errands while I cooked eggs and ground turkey for Arya. New episodes of my favorite gardening shows were on, so I also watched them. My microgreens aren't doing well (again!), so I plan to harvest what I can and compost the rest. I have changed techniques a couple of times and same result. I wonder it they need more air flow than they are currently getting and may see if I can find some small fans to attach to shelves in the growing area. Microgreens are so healthy that I don't want to give up on growing them if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm also growing sprouts and they are doing quite well.
Waving to the rest of the gang. Happy Weekend to All!

Chele, thanks for the start. Was that an early start or were you up late? I hadn't heard of Sweetest Day before. Cincinnati is really beating up on UCF. It's 35-7 and they just started the 3rd quarter. Ouch! Karen, cute avatar! How do you grow the sprouts? I used to grow them in a jar made for that purpose and they came out good. Not sure what happened to the jar or why I stopped. I probably got rid of it on one of my moves many years ago. There was a knock at my door this morning and my prescription eye drops were delivered. I didn't get any notice that it was being delivered, so was pleasantly surprised when it showed up. It took several calls each to the pharmacy, doctor and insurance to get it filled. It shouldn't be this hard!
It's another warm unfall-like day here, but we're supposed to have a high of 81 and low of 60 tomorrow. Time to break out the sweaters!
Waving to everyone. Have a great day.

We had rain overnight, finally. It’s a whopping 60° right now. I went out this morning in short sleeves and sandals and picked some tomatoes. It was gloriously cool.
I did not sleep well last night due to sinus drip, hence I was looking for things to do and decided to start the weekend thread.
I spent the morning chopping veggies for meals, shredding cheese for tomorrow’s lasagna and I made a batch of almond biscotti.
Kathy, I see the Bearcats are still ahead in the 4th. Yeah, 60s there would require a sweater. I never heard of Sweetest Day until I moved to Ohio. According to the holidayspot.com it “has its origin in Cleveland in 1922, during the Great Depression. At present the holiday is primarily celebrated in the Midwestern U.S. states of Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio.”
Karen, even Valentine’s Day is too much for Iggy. Wish I could offer you advice on the microgreens but I do not have a green thumb. Did Dale go running today?
Waving to the crew. Have a good Saturday.

Not a football house here.
heat wave for weekend. Nice in shade, 95 in sun but cool at night.
We have PPO and can see any dr who takes Medicare. Her bedside manner is fine, but that office is useless and she is getting overbooked and limited on how much time per patient. My eye doc says hedge funds buy up these places and take the assets.
busy day..got up late, grabbed four spoons of cottage cheese and out the door! Line was good at food drive with lots of teenage volunteers. Then I went to a grocery store to get a Turkey great now for the freezer…usually Safeway has a few and frozen ducks in one spot…nothing until end of OCT. Same at another chain. There will be a shortage this year.
Got needed stuff in both places, hime to drop it off and out the door for gas $3.41 a gallon, then brought a foldable dog crate Micki hates and two comfy insert for it to Lost our Home which shelters pets when people have to fund new place to live as well as ones to adopt. Nice to make people happy about donations. Then mailed ballots for school bond, then bank to put money on the prepaid debit I use instead of credit card. Finally a fun thing, TUESDAY Morning to look at the new Christmas stuff…flowers, napkins, cut rate Spode and Lennox, towels, kitchen stuff, etc.
got home starving after 3

Kathy, cute new avatar. I started growing sprouts in the 70s and somehow my original glass Sprout Farm has survived numerous moves. I was using it several months ago but started having problems with fungus gnats, so I got one of these on Amazon and it's been great: Sprouter. I can grow 2 kinds of sprouts at the same time and the gnats can't penetrate it. I have Mung bean and broccoli sprouts in the fridge right now and more broccoli and clover sprouts in the sprouter. Two things that I didn't get with my jar method that I think make this work better are that it provides higher humidity and removes the light source. Congrats on getting your Rx. Hope you weren't still in your jammies . Sorry about UCF. They did score 3 TDs, so there's that. Texas blew a late lead and suffered the same result as last week. And, the Vols only lost by 5 points which wasn't bad. However, the fans kicked up a ruckus after the game and the NCAA is so upset they are talking fines and other penalties. I didn't think the Great Depression started until 1929, Chele. Your source seems a few years off. I don't remember anything about Sweetest Day when I lived in Toledo. You would think it would be celebrated there with it being honored in MI. Was it originally a push to sell candy? How are the sinuses doing today? Is your weather supposed to be chilly enough to frost? I picked a bunch of cherry tomatoes yesterday, as well as one massive zucchni. We usually do takeout for Valentine's Day and that's about it. Linda, any texts from the doc? Probably not over the weekend. You had a busy day yesterday, but then you often do. How is Bob doing on the new way of eating? Anyone else having USPS problems? We got a replacement credit card for one that was set to expire about 3 weeks ago and they only sent one for Dale. We called and requested one for me that never arrived, so we called back yesterday afternoon. Turns out USPS returned mine as undeliverable. So Discover sending it FedEx this time, which is only a maginal improvement because of the problems we have with FedEx. Dale decided to run today. I tried to place an online order at Salsarita for him to pick up and online wasn't working so I called them. They were doing dine-in only (again!) due to staffing. So I called the Middle Eastern place and they have taken koshari off the menu because it wasn't selling enough. We got falafel sandwiches but that won't be enough for the rest of the week, so I'm going to have to do some meal planning after all. I made a big pot of vegetable soup in the IP, so that will be lunches. Not sure about dinners. I spent a large part of the morning shredding turnips and zucchini and have a gallon of saueruben and half a gallon of zucchini kraut fermenting. I also tried to watch Sunday Today with Willie Geist, which is a weekly thing for me. I watched it last Sunday on the NBC app (since we currently don't have our local NBC station). We are now blocked on the NBC app from all NBC content. To say I am not happy is an understatement. Looking for an alternative to Dish. We don't have cable available. I hope everyone is having a less eventful day than I've had.

Happy National Pasta Day. Happy coincidence that we planned to have lasagna today. Iggy said it’s the best I have ever made. I am not sure why. I did everything the same as usual, unless it’s the backyard tomatoes for the sauce and fresh herbs from the garden. We even popped open a bottle of Chianti. I had a very small glass, not even 4 oz. Red wines are not good for migraine sufferers.
Karen, I think the only reason I found about Sweetest Day was back in the 90s from a coworker whose family is from Cleveland. She even got married on Sweetest Day. The day started as a charitable act giving away candy to orphans and the underprivileged. I guess my source get his dates wrong. That’s too bad about Salsarito’s and the koshari. Veggie soup is yummy though. The lasagna I make never has any meat in it. I’ve always made it with cheese only. I don’t put zucchini or spinach in it either. I make it exactly how my aunties taught me. I hope Dale had a good run. It has been a cool but sunny day here. I hope you guys have the same weather.
Kathy, sorry your UCF team lost. Iggy is watching the Bengals right now. I had to leave the room. He gets so crazy if they do something stupid. I like your new avatar. Iggy went to the doctor last Tuesday and he just now got a text from CVS that his prescription is ready. Still waiting for the one from the GI doctor. He also has made numerous calls and you’re right. It shouldn’t be this hard.
Linda, you had a busy day yesterday. I haven’t been to Tuesday Morning in ages, but it is always fun to see what they have. I read an article a couple of weeks ago that Butterball said there would be a shortage of turkeys and to buy early. That’s why we went to the turkey farm store and bought so e turkey parts. Individually, we have a whole turkey except for the neck. I guess it will be a deconstructed turkey.
Have a great Sunday, everyone.

Karen, the Rx was a battle. I was starting to type it all in, but it would require pages to explain! It took over a month to get it through the process due to it requiring a prior authorization. This is just eye drops for dry eyes, not some rare disease or exotic drug. They set the package right on the doorstep, so I was able to get it without changing out of my comfy pants, lol. Thanks for the sprouts info. I hadn't seen one like the Sprouter, but I like that it avoids the fungus problem. UCF didn't look that bad when I was watching. It was just obvious that Cincinnati was a better team. That's awful that some TN fans would throw trash. Hard to believe they'd do that to their own field. The UF/LSU game was a good one. UF wasn't able to pull a win out, so I'm sure their fans are pretty unhappy too. I had a credit card returned like that once. It's possible they delivered it to someone else by mistake and then it got returned when they gave it back to the mail carrier. I think that's what happened with mine. DS and DBIL have cut the ties to cable and I think they're using YouTube's TV service. I don't know if streaming like that is an option for you though. I hope they get the issues with NBC resolved soon. Then again, I've been waiting over 2 years for the ACC Network!
Chele, congrats to Cincinnati. I hope they continue their unbeaten streak and get into the playoffs.
It's in the lower 80s today, so I guess that's from our cool front. Waving to everyone. Have a good Sunday!

Chele, DS winds up leaving the room during football too since DBIL is so loud when his teams play. I can hear him when she's on the phone in another room! She used to be more of a hardcore Gator, but now I don't think she cares about sports that much. DM and I bought a turkey breast last year, so we might do that again. It was plenty for us.

Allergy drip major here with the wind that brings stuff from 100 miles away. Once in a while it gathers into a glob in my throat and I have a coughing fit.
cleaned out the walk in closet, tossed two bags of clothes. Then Did more on garage and have a full suv trunk for Good Will tomorrow. Phew.
Worried about Denise.
