After a heavy snow followed by warm weather, the view out the bay window is beautiful. Most of the aspen trees are a glorious gold. Most of the other trees and shrubs in the backyard are busy shedding leaves. Clean up of leaves will be a tough job, but that's delegated to someone else!
My helper has had her miscarriage and wound up in the hospital for two days when she developed a fever.
Peanut has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. She was having trouble with the stairs and kept getting worse. An ultrasound showed advanced cancer. I have been feeling a bit hollow the last few days. Caught me off guard because initially it seemed like a back problem. The others are staying closer than usual.
I did start a scarf, but I was having trouble with the number one f stitches in a row. I'm not sure why.

Sue, good to hear from you….Peanut lived a wonderful life under your loving care. I am sorry for your loss…you and the other dogs will adjust in time to life without her. Hope that your caregiver regains strength quickly - but a miscarriage is much more than a physical loss. The emotional loss is huge. Your magnificent view of snow sounds lovely!!! Enjoy…..hope you can figure out the stitch count issue on your scarf.

Good afternoon. It's a new week but that doesn't mean much to most of us except Ginny who still has weekly obligations.
Sue, I'm sorry to hear about your doggie.
Well I'm still working on trying to get birthday and Christmas projects done so that I can get to some other things. There is a CAL in one of the fb groups for mosaic hats and I really want to make some of those. The other things I want to do is a gingham blanket and one that dgd#9...the youngest dgd...requested. Here's the link for thathttps://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-snowy-mountains-baby-blanket/ She's the one that loves pink..for now anyway...so I'm not sure about color placement. The main blanket in white with two toned pinks in the mountains or lighter pink for the main blanket part and darker pink mountain with white for the "snow". I want to use up the pink so probably will use the lighter pink for the actual blanket part. I don't have too much of the darker pink left. It's some of that that Lion brand put on sale in October a few years back for breast cancer and I bought a lot of it.It's pound of love and it was only $2.99. I'm finally down to where I think I may use up the last of it.

Hello Everyone Sue - I'm sorry for your loss of peanut. I hope your caregiver will be better soon too. That view out your window sounds beautiful Ruth - That is a cute blanket, I'm sure it will be pretty in pink and white. Ginny and Phyl - Hope you are doing well. It really seemed to get cool here fast, but fortunately the days have been sunny. I went out this morning to run some errands and stock up on a few groceries. I've been looking for Jello CookNServe pudding for a few months now and finally found some in a store I don't usually go in. I really enjoy the warm pudding this time of year, and in the winter. I've also been looking for Better Cheddar crackers and they haven't been around in any store either - but I found some today. I shouldn't bring them in the house, since I eat too many of them at once, but sometimes I just need something crunchy I haven't done any quilting today, maybe tomorrow. I decided that I am not going to hand quilt 3 of the small pieces that I had basted/sandwiched and ready to go. I used Warm and Natural batting in them, instead of Quilters Dream which I prefer for hand quilting, and when I tried to hand quilt through it, it was not easy. So I'll just machine quilt these pieces. That leaves me one thing basted but I really don't want to work on it, so maybe I will finally get the quilt ready for the Baptist Fan quilting. I still have to baste the quilt, make the marker, and mark the quilt before I can start. Hope all of your are having nice weather and getting to do some crafting today. Take care!

Last night was Bible study for me, so I got no crafting done- well except for getting supplies out for kids crafts. I did get the button sewn on one of the prarie point ornaments. And struggled with it a bit…will have to watch the video once more to see if I am missing any good tips.
CJ- like you my temps dropped suddenly. Glad you were able to find the cook and serve pudding- a nice cozy treat for sure. Those better cheddar crackers are really good- I do not buy them because then I eat them.! Glad you were able to find a supply,

What a dreary, awful looking day this is! I'm really surprised because this week was supposed to be all warmer and yesterday was nice and warm. It's been raining and is really overcast. It's 39 degrees right now which is not awful but I liked yesterdays temps much better.
Ginny, well Bible study is sure well worth giving up crafting for an evening. I'm sorry to hear you had a hard time with that button. I hope that you will be able to find some tips that will help. What craft do you have for the children today?
CJ, we have never bought many Better Cheddars but we used to buy a lot of Cheese Nips. They don't make those anymore. I forget what the ones are called that are very similar to the Nips but they are much more expensive. I love the cook and serve pudding and don't care for the instant at all. Walmart does have Cook 'n Serve in chocolate, vanilla and butterscotch here.
Today I plan on baking some cookies. I can safely make those because I don't care for them. Of course dh really doesn't need to be eating those either but he's an adult and can make his own choices. I'm also going to do a few household chores then back to crocheting. I have 5 of the 10 Christmas elf hats done so am still working on those and I told ddil that I would make some hair bands for the youngest grandaughter since she's growing her hair out and it keeps getting in her eyes.

Hello Ginny - Hope watching the video again will help you with adding the buttons to the ornaments I shouldn't have bought those crackers myself I bought some other crackers yesterday too and I've been eating too many of them already. Ruth - Sorry you are having a dreary day, hope the weather clears up soon I liked the Cheese Nips too. The other ones I remember are Cheez-its, I didn't like them. Hope the cookies turn out well. The pudding I was looking for was the Sugar Free CooknServe - that one is hard to find. I did see several of the regular cooknserve puddings in the stores. I used to use the vanilla one to make a pie with a graham cracker crust, it was good. It was another sunny day here and a bit warmer. The house was very cold last night and this morning so I finally gave in today and turned on the furnace to take the chill off. I always get anxious when I first turn it on in case there are problems, but so far so good. I bought an electric tea kettle when I was out shopping yesterday and I've been heating up water in it today to get it ready to use. It sure does heat up water fast. I probably didn't need to buy this, but I hope I'll get some use out of it. After deciding to machine quilt those small pieces I had basted for hand quilting, I decided to go ahead and do that with all of them except one. So this morning I machine quilted 3 small pieces and I'm happy I decided to go that way, they look good to me. So I have 5 pieces to bind now and I'll have to set aside a day for that. And I have one that I need to sandwich/baste and that's the one I mentioned that I want to hand quilt using the black Bold Hand Quilting thread I accidentally bought at JoAnn's one time. The new Pat Sloan block for Happy Everything came out yesterday so I need to work on that and tomorrow will be the new block for the Fall Frolic quilt along. I don't want to get behind on these. Take care everyone!

Hi!!!
CJ- I think you deserve a new tea kettle and I hope it serves you well!!!! (What is your favorite tea?). I admire your dedication to keep up with these Quilt along’s. I’ve got some wonderful projects in the works and I hope you’re really happy with the final results. I was looking for a pudding it was probably an instant ship a free putting a few weeks ago and was surprised to see that the store was not as well stocked as I remember. I don’t know if it’s that Jell-O has changed what their making and they are discontinuing some puddings or if we are seeing shortages like we saw earlier in the year. If I get in the store tomorrow, I’ll check and see if they have that cook and serve sugar-free pudding. I’m very very glad to hear that your heat came on fine this morning, I had to turn mine on yesterday for the same reason as the house was chilly. Do you need to have your furnace serviced annually?
Ruth, what kind of cookies can you makeThat you won’t eat? I know I used to do that with my husband, I would make cookies for him they were not my favorites and that kept me from snacking on them. My daughter has made her own cheese nips or cheese zits, and been pretty happy with them. When do you hope to have those elf hats done by and the hair bands too? Hoping for nicer weather for you so that when you look out that lovely window (which you just cleaned) you can see a beautiful day.
So todays craft was blue slime. We made pink slime a few weeks ago and DGD LOVED that project so why not make it in another color? DSIL threw the pink slime out, so I brought the blue slime home and will let DGD play with it when I see her again. And I picked out a project for a board and brush night that we are doing with the ladies from Bible study in a few weeks. Oh dear, their projects are expensive. But 4 of us are going and I am sure we will have a nice evening. I spent a lot of time looking through their project options so I guess that counts as crafting. And I did get to view the video again for my ornaments, and she does not use shank buttons but those with the holes in the top. That solves the problem for sure, and I also saw how she gets around the hanger issue. So I got some crafting in today sort of.

CJ, I'm glad that your machine quilting went well and that you are happy with the results. I didn't think about sugar free pudding. I have seen it here and in fact whenever I saw cook and serve it mostly always turned out to be sugar free until lately. I don't use sugar free things anymore because it can cause flareups of the interstitial cystitis and the IBS.
Ginny, I bet your dgd was sad when her daddy threw away her slime. Fortunately Grandma made more. She's happy now I'm sure. And yes between the slime and preparing for the project with your Bible study friends you definitely crafted today. I'm glad to hear that you found out what buttons she used on those ornaments. Yesterday in one of the crochet groups, a woman showed a picture of the crochet snowman she had made and said she just needed to put on buttons. Well it's not going to be easy to do that when the snowman is all stuffed and put together already
Right after I post this morning it started to snow and has been snowing all day.Tomorrow was supposed to be the day we were going to go on out day or two trip. Of course we cancelled that and I'm glad because you all know how much I love staying home.
Ginny, I'm thinking that I'll send the box of gifts containing the hats and hair bands in about the middle of Nov and I actually think I might be done and ready by then.

Good morning!!
Ruth, well first off, I am glad that you are on target for the hats and hair bands for mid November. i wonder if you keep track of the number of items that you crochet in a year. Pretty incredible actually. I am happy for you that your little trip has been cancelled or postponed. I love to be home too( think we all do!!!) Honestly as a crafter, it pretty much says that we love to be home and can occupy ourselves beautifully when we are home. Such a joy, isn’t it? Did you get much snow? And yes, putting buttons on the snowman after its been made would surely be a headache.
I figured for my ornaments that I either have to use colored buttons and thread to match the button, or clear thread, or buy gold thread to use with the buttons I have. Guess I could go up to Joanns today and see what will work out best.
Sort of warm here today - its supposed to make it to the low 70s today. And I have a funeral to attend this weekend. A woman from my church lost her mom (in her mid 90’s- this was expected). Do not feel like going but it would be absolutely rude if I did not.
See ya later!!!! Ginny

CJ, I forgot to mention the tea kettle. Yes you definitely should have one. I have a couple of them...electric ones like you're talking about...which are very old and have a lot of minerals built up on them. It's been scrubbed off many times but they look bad but work great.I have one down in the "winter quarter' so that I can make tea down there. I did buy myself a new one a couple years ago but haven't used it yet.I don't knnow what I'm waiting for.
It's a beautiful day today. The sun is back and it's 42 degrees so the snow is all melting.
Ginny, thank you for letting us know about the free shipping. I was looking on Lion's site yesterday and they had some fantastic clearance. They have their reup yarn for only 87 cents. I just bought a bunch on sale last week but the price was double that and I thought that was a good deal. They also have some of thier other yarn on fantastic sale but only certain colors....I didn't order any.Usually they just have their weird yarns on clearance but this time they have three colors of Vanna's choice and a couple other yarns that are what we would use.

Ok,you made me do it, Ginny. I bought yarn. I actually needed more Christmas colors and I got the free shipping along with a coupon from Honey for 20% off. Joann's said they had 25% off on "selected items"...yarn wasn't selected so used the honey coupon. I also had to buy white because I recently bought white but it turned out to be what they called soft white and what it is is a dingy looking white.I can't remember where I bought it or I'd complain because I don't think that I actually ordered the soft white. I think it was an error on the part of whatever company I ordered it from

Ok so put me in the minority here, I do not own an electric tea pot. I am old school and have a nice stainless steel tea pot that I heat on my gas stove. Hey, Ruth, use that new electric one!!!That you have to change your hot water tanks as frequently as you do- well maybe your electric tea pots need to be changed a lot too then. So glad you have better weather today and that the beautiful sun is shining brightly.
Ruth did you get any additional Vanna’s choice yarn? With all the crocheting you do, I would think it pays to stock up on basic colors- of course you are probably well stocked.
So for my free shipping…..I got a nice assortment of silver and gold buttons (with holes on top and not shank buttons) silver thread, gold thread and a palm sized mini iron. I struggle at times with a big iron and small quilt pieces and was very frustrated with my large iron when making the prairie points . this small iron will come in handy for many sewing projects. Because of free shipping and 25% off the whole order, the total damage was $24.73….my gift card was for $25.
Actually got a few minutes of embroidery in today. Ginny
