This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Good Morning Chicks, Just starting us off; I am working from home today after feeling quite poorly yesterday. Not sure if it's residual prep or anesthesia or a bit of both but too much almost nausea and discomfort. Hope you all have a safe and good Friday!

Thanks for the start, Liz. I hope you are feeling better. That GI prep and procedure is not pleasant.
Waving to the gang. ππππππ
I went to Kroger in the morning and after lunch we went to the YS orchard for apples. We also found butternut squash. It has been a cold, grey day, a true autumn day.
Have a good evening.

Liz, I never feel right after that for a couple days, but relatives go out for a big breakfast. Urk..
Today has been tech He.. before I got my first swallow of coffee DH was complaining Internet was down. Not a good sign when phone and cable work.Tried rebooting to modem and router..nope router still flashing yellow and diagnostics said cannot connect. We pay extra for Cox cable company care , so I had a very patient guy on phone over an hour while we checked configurations on router and he checked internet dept. finally all decided the modem internet Jack was not working. He was grateful to have a person who knew what he was talking about and how to find settings.
So off to the company store for a new one. Reconnected it all. Voila.
Made us breakfast for lunch, walked the dog a mile and am lying down. Have the

Liz, thanks for the start! There are some trees here that lose leaves, but not around my house. The oaks do make a mess sometimes with their acorns and other debris that they drop. Sorry you had such a rough time with the prep last week and hope you're feeling better. That's good that you could at least work from home. I hope Zoe's appetite improves. Funny that the little wench will still eat her treats though. How's Wally doing? Hope you have a good weekend and recover from the stomach issues. Karen, we've had some really nice hikes outside of the national park, especially when my parents used to stay in NC. We passed a state park in your area that looked really nice, but never got back to it. I forget the name. Congrats on the new Osteo best. I know you've made great progress with that! I usually preferred the vegetarian options at our work functions. The meat was usually some kind of frankenmeat that I don't eat and it upsets my stomach. They used to get a rough count before the lunches so they didn't leave the vegetarians in a lurch, but sometimes things still got messed up. One time, they ordered pizzas and the guys raced to get in line first and were taking 4 slices each! They didn't plan for that much and the rest of us had to wait a long time while they ordered more pizzas. Another time, same kind of thing, but it was sandwiches and the people in the front (yes, guys again) were taking 2 sandwiches. I guess they weren't taught to take a reasonable amount and then go back for seconds if anything was left! Linda, sorry some of the people at lunch were downers. Hope your dsil and family are okay. How did the chicken casserole come out? I'm down 2 lbs this week, so that made up for the small loss last week. I just passed 25 lbs for the year and have lost all of my Trump-era weight plus a little more! Chele, how are the sinuses today? Mine seem a bit better, but right after I typed that, I sneezed. I guess they want the last word on that. It's so annoying when people park in front of the house and block the mailbox or driveway. Leaving a pile of leaves so they can't park sounds like a good strategy.π π
Hope everyone has a good Friday evening.

Thanks for the start, Liz. I hope you're starting to feel a lot better. I would avoid Golytely at all costs in the future just in case. Did you have similar anesthesia problems with either of your hip surgeries? Good move to work at home today under the circumstances. Hope it wasn't too crazy. Is Zoe's appetite improving any? The treats always taste better than the food.
Chele, has the congestion subsided, allowing you to go masked to Kroger? What will you do with the butternut squash you found at the orchard? What variety of apples did you buy? Are they good?
You tend to have those tech days now and then Linda. Glad you were able to successfully resolve the issue. How's your weather that Micki got an after-lunch walk?
Kathy, one of the colleges I worked at was really good at ensuring there was always a vegetarian option. Unfortunately, the so-desperate-for-a-free-meal faculty members would go through the line and take servings of both the meat and vegetarian entrees (kind of like your coworkers taking 4 slices of pizza) and sometimes the vegetarians got nothing. One year I got to the event late and was totally shut out, so I ended up across the street at Taco Bell. NC has a lot of nice state parks. And then there's the national park in the west and several amazing sections of the Appalachian and Mountains-to-the-Sea Trails. Did your sneezing clear your head so your sinuses improved after that? That's very annoying when people park in front of your mailbox. Is UCF playing tonight? Michigan plays at Noon and Clemson at 3:30. The Vols game is at night @ Bama, so we probably won't bother with that--too depressing.
I spent 4 hours working at the craft fair today. I was a vendor at the first one in 2018, and we only had about half the number of vendors this time. I hope we can build back the number of vendors, but we really need to get more volunteers involved. We had minimal staffing today and only have the morning covered tomorrow. I'm trying to recruit more people to help with clean up tomorrow. It's like pulling teeth to get people to show up right now. I looked at things but didn't buy anything. We were set up close to the entrance and we had a breeze blowing in and I haven't been able to get warm since. I got into heavy traffic coming home, partially tourists and partially the end of school zone traffic at the HS. Tomorrow will be busy with changing the bed, doing some weeding, and making my first batch of koshari that I hope will turn out well.
Waves to the rest of the gang!
