This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ********** Linda, I am glad to hear all went well for Bob. He does not have far to go to reach his goal weight. Yes, adding carbs will put a little weight back. I hope he expects this. Kathy, better break out the blanket if it’s going down to the fifties overnight. I had to get out the wool blanket for Iggy. I have the heat set for 65° and the house hasn’t cooled down to that yet. The blood thinners make him cold. I had to break my own habit of cursing like a trucker when I went into training, although naughty words still slip out occasionally. I was trying to reach something on the top dairy shelf at the grocery and I was too short. I stretched so far I felt a back muscle twinge. Good thing no children were around. 🤬🤭 Karen, I found a breadmaker recipe for pita dough. Pita bread for Breadmaker I am going to have to try it. We get ours from the deli. It’s made in Detroit where there is a large Lebanese community. The falafel mix is not made locally. It’s from Lebanon a d the brand is Lebanon Valley. I was wrong about chickpea only. It’s a mix of fava beans and chickpeas. Lebanese use both tzatziki and tarator for different food items. The battered and baked fish, boiled and baked cauliflower and falafel get the tarator. The Lebanese tzatziki (Laban wa Khyar)is used more like a side dish than a topping for sandwiches. Enjoy your gym trip.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Have you and Arya been conspiring about what she needs to demand for her weekend? You probably hit the nail on the head. I hope she won't be too needy. From the coverage I saw on the bomb cyclone, it sounds like DB and family were lucky they just got wind. Thanks for the recipe. Sounds pretty simple. I've never seen Lebanon Valley brand. It looks like some Krogers and Walmarts carry it. So does Lebanese tzatziki have chunkier cucumbers to make it more of a side dish? We are expecting the possiblity of frost tonight. You are typically colder than we are, so is Mr. Lemon indoors yet? I have a basil plant that's not looking too good, so it may not survive until tomorrow. It's been going downhill since before the fair, so no huge loss.
Kathy I was a little surprised by the 2:25pm start time, and I have to say that it didn't indicate which time zone. Apparently this season is still Chris Chibnall's and Russell starts again next season. It looks like the next regereneration will be the start of the new season. Chris said that Jodie is the best Doctor ever and he wants to go out on top. Upon your recommendation, I was able to find Casanova on Pluto TV and have now watched it. Thanks for the recommendation. A hurricane crossed with a tornado is probably a good layperson's explanation for a bomb cyclone.
How is Bob's vision today, Linda? Will he need new glasses now or is his corrected vision 20/20? What's on your agenda, or is this a rest day? What's for dinner?
Liz, I hope the commute wasn't a rough on this morning. The rain in the city looked pretty bad from what I saw on TWC. How are the pups doing? Do they like having daddy at home with them a lot of the time?
The gym was fairly quiet this morning. In fact, for about the first 20 minutes I was there, the only other females in the place were the manager and the housekeeper. I stopped at the grocery store for a few things on the way home. How can a small cart still cost almost $95? I had light rain for the rest of the trip home, which cleared up early this afternoon. But it's still really cloudy and that's keeping the temperatures from rising very much. I imagine the heat will kick on tonight. I think it's set for 67° and it's ony gotten to 71° indoors so far. I hope I don't regret not putting on the electric mattress pad when I changed the sheets on Saturday.

Karen, it’s only 55° and there is a frost alert. I told Iggy he should bring in Mr Lemon but he hasn’t done it. He is at the periodontist right now, so I doubt it will get done. Yes, the cucumber chunks are a little larger.

Good afternoon chicks and thanks for the start Chele, Chele - I remember being cold a great deal of the time when I was on blood thinners as well. We had very heavy rain, thunder and lightening last night and for a good portion of the morning as well. I worked from home but will definitely need to go in tomorrow. We are expecting much of the same heavy rain this evening with potentially gusty winds in excess of 30+mph. I love tzatziki but won't be eating it much as the nutritionist is advising no garlic or onions right now. I have a host of other restrictions as well that I am going to need to used to. Although I was feeling a bit guilty about working from home; I have had a headache since going to bed last night that I've been fighting all day . I will look forward to hearing how the pita bread comes out in the bread maker. How are the sinuses? We are only at 60 degrees today and the wind is just starting to kick up a bit. Linda - glad things went well for Bob. How are you feeling? How has the weather been? Have you been able to take Micki on longer walks lately? Congrats on the losses. Kathy - big congrats on the 25 lb. loss! That's quite an accomplishment. I think I read you were going down into the 50s overnight? How are the family doing? Any issues with the stormy weather? We're expecting quite a bit of the nor'easter coming shortly for the evening and overnight. Karen - I would think it was somewhat pleasant with the gym being quiet unless there was a bunch of guys and just you 3 ladies. The pups are Wally is fine and I'm fairly worried about Zoe right now. She is losing her hind leg strength terribly and falling flat out just since yesterday. I'm fairly sure it's Cushings related since she's been taking Carprofen for her arthritis pretty successfully. Her appetite has been much more fussy than usual but I have managed to get her to eat some boiled chicken breast. I certainly get the grocery prices; I can't believe I spend over $100 for just Gary and I for basics and usually end up having to get extras during the week. Waving to Becky and Denise. Hope you all stay warm and safe. Gary had the fireplace going this morning and early afternoon so that kept the downstairs warm. Ciao for now dear ladies~

Chele, it's supposed to get cooler this weekend, but it's been pretty warm today. The AC has been blasting away, so I think we're only getting into the 60s tonight. I know I'll be wanting to switch on the heat if it gets into the 50s. Ouch on the back twinge! That could definitely make a few choice words slip out. There's a saying that a programmer's best language is profanity. Hope you and Mr. Lemon stay warm. Karen, I think they've done the UK/US simulcast for Doctor Who before but it's been a few years. I wouldn't say Jodie is the best doctor even, but I think she's done a good job. I like her better than the previous Mr. Grouch. I didn't realize Pluto TV had any of the BBC shows. I'll have to check it out. Groceries have really gone up in the past couple of years. Thanks Liz! They're saying a low of 60 tonight and then 50s this weekend. Brrrrrr... I'll definitely have the heat on if it gets down that far. I'm glad you've been able to work from home and recuperate a bit and the fireplace should make things nice and toasty. We had a squall line come through yesterday and had some brief heavy rain, but not much wind. It's been clear today. Hope the nor'easter doesn't do any damage or cause any commute issues. Family is doing fine. DS/DBIL are off gallivanting around in their camper/RV this week and DM had a visit with her older sister. So sorry to hear that Zoe is still having issues.
Linda, hope you'll be getting some of this cooler weather that's going around too.

Had about six plastic bags of food at grocery store yesterday …$158 because of meat. Got a boneless Butterball 3 lb Turkey breast. $12, pound of low fat hamburger $10, pound of organic chicken $11, 2 lb packages of center cut lean bacon Oscar Meyer $18 to freeze for future. Glad we eat meat less these days. Unfortunately Micki needs a no carb lunch ..meat. Not much, but still..
Boneless is evidently a thing now. We ordered a breast with bone for Thanksgiving from MN based local butcher that does humane raised poultry. They had boneless option this year. Going to try the Butterball in a couple days. They also have good record on humanely raised and packaged Turkey.
Chele, ouch on that stretch, that sets off sciatica for me. I really hate that half gallons of milk are high and they do not slide forward when front is taken.!
no need for heat here at night here…50s are the morning low. Couple days in 79s and back to seasonal mid 89s.
Bob got good report at dr today…he will GI back in a month to check in need for probable change in glasses.
Weather not looking good for next couple days in NY..good time to be working from home, Liz.
Stomach got mad at pea soup last night..quit eating, and this morning I had gained 1.5 pounds. Ok, I had a few baking chocolate bits with stress last couple days and toast as we ran out the door yesterday morning and after the pea soup last nut, but gee! I was up most of the night , then slept 8-11 and had a little Cheerios, and am back in bed with tea. Yuck.
