The big thing about the introduction is the author’s statement that it is not our fault that we can’t lose weight and keep it off. The actual problem is we don’t know how to do it successfully. The things dieters don’t know include:
How to motivate themselves
What to do when they are tempted to cheat
How to view slip-ups as mistake not a reason to give up
How to handle the feelings of being overwhelmed, hopeless, or unable to keep going
That they can learn how to manage their weight successfully
Another thing people don’t realize is that dieting has natural ups and downs, sometimes it is easy then it gets hard and then it is easy again. In this book you will learn how to manage all these situations so when things get hard you will know what to do. As you use your new skills things will get easier and easier.
If you get a chance read page 13. There is a list of things people learned from going through this program that they didn’t know before and that we learn while going through the program.
With all the things that make weight management a success what are you looking forward to learn or what have you learned from previous reviews of the program?

From the reviews I have improved my ability to do the five things listed and looking forward to reinforce them with this review. Big thing is I've learned to recognize sabotaging thoughts and talk back to them, eventually this becomes somewhat of a habit but I wear down at times and slip up and need the reviews to improve my skills at this.

I'm looking forward to learning some new things I've missed in past BBR and I'd like to continue being encouraged to strengthen knowledge learned to deal with sabotaging thoughts and unplanned eating. I need to continually remind myself about how to deal with these thoughts besides eating food. These strategies learned in past reviews were largely responsible for me to get down to goal and maintain my weight at present time. Thank you Judy for providing BBR for us, you are much appreciated!

I have a Kindle copy of the book so it’s easy for me to cut and paste:
I now know ...
I can control my eating if I plan in advance what I need to do and if I practice what I need to say over and over to myself.
when I’m tempted to eat something I shouldn’t, I need to pull out my list that contains all the reasons I want to lose weight.
just because I’m hungry doesn’t necessarily mean I should eat. cravings always go away, and there are things I can do to make them go away faster. I don’t have to give in to them. eating a reasonable breakfast and lunch is important so I won’t overeat at night.
if I don’t follow a nutritious diet, I’m more likely to cheat.
I have to make time for dieting and exercise. I have to prepare in advance for sabotaging thinking.
I need to sit down and eat slowly and notice every bite—every time I eat.
if I eat something I shouldn’t, it’s just a mistake. It doesn’t mean I’m hopeless or bad. I don’t have to make it a bigger mistake by continuing to eat whatever I want for the rest of the day.
I have to put my needs first sometimes.
it’s okay to say no to people who offer me food.
I have to watch out for fooling myself. Every single time I put food in my mouth, it matters.
I need to give myself credit every time I do what I’m supposed to do.
if I regain weight, I can go back to using the skills I learned to lose it—every time.
I can do it! I have the skills now. I know how to do it, and I’ll have these skills forever.

I'm gonna try to be in on the review this time around. It seems like a good time to get my act together since the new program is coming out. It's time to shake out the lazy, loosey-goosey habits I've gotten in to and pay attention to what I'm doing. Trying to learn and follow the new program will be a big assist in that direction.
I've been entirely too willing to succumb to Sabotaging Thoughts, and not trying much at all to push back with the Helpful Thoughts. I need to acknowledge the BS for what it is, and build up that resistance muscle.

ladymajky, what a treat for us, welcome back, you have been missed m'lady!
With all the things that make weight management a success what are you looking forward to learn or what have you learned from previous reviews of the program?
I have learned that I:
can always start over immediately after I fall off the path, and I don't have to continue an eating spree just because of one unplanned event.
must track daily or the program does not work, and it doesn't take a lot of time to track so there's no excuses!
have to exercise at least 5x week to be consistent, and I'd like to make it daily.
need to prioritize my exercise and as the days get shorter I need to get my workout in earlier in the day.
have an Olympic level Giving In muscle and I absolutely MUST strengthen my Resistance Muscle.
need to check in and post daily here because this group support is very important to my success.

natural ups and downs I think this is one of the BIGGEST things I have learned this time losing weight. I used to get so frustrated when the scale wouldn't move or would move up instead of down even when following the program. My current feeling/belief is that I am following a healthy program FOR LIFE and my body will determine where it will end up and when it will end up there at its own pace. I don't let it bother me (often) that it is taking longer than it did in 1984 or 1998/9

I’ve learned that: 1. It’s perfectly fine for me to put my needs first by choosing when to say yes. Saying no is not only ok but necessary in order for me to maintain the balance that keeps me healthy and at my personal goal. 2. I used to think that “Make it a lifestyle!”, was just a catchy slogan. Now I understand that just knowing a program is not enough. Having the skills and applying them until they become habit. is key. That’s what “lifestyle” has come to mean, for me. 3. Expect the natural ups and downs without interpreting them as a signal to skip meals or punish yourself. You know when you’ve complied with your regimen and when you’ve gone outside of your usual. It’s okay as long as you have a plan in place. 4. Keep my commitments to myself the same as I would keep the ones I make to others. It’s so easy to BS myself and accept it as truth, in the moment. Ask myself if would I intentionally BS someone else who was in the same situation? 5. Control my environment so that I can reduce the choices I have to make. 6. Know the reasons why you want to reach your goals. When possible, put reminders in place. I still have my watch set to remind me 2x daily that I am a “Beckie” for life. I love that WW seems to have jumped on the mindset bandwagon also.
I’m looking forward to learning how to stay focused: 1. after the excitement of new habits begins to fade and the numbers going down on the scale are no longer the immediate reward. 2. On applying the skills after Post-Pandemic life gets busy 3. On giving myself credit 4. On recognizing non-scale victories as well as scale victories of seeing those numbers fluctuate in a healthy maintenance range
