This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ********** Liz, travel safely today. I am sorry to hear Zoe is not doing as well as she was. It is so stressful when the fur babies are not well. I saw that NYC is putting pumps near the subways, so the water can be pumped out and the sewer drains are being blocked off so debris can easily be cleared and water can drain in the streets. I hope it’s enough.
Waving to the rest of the gang. BBL. Oh, and it’s 34° right now. Heat kicked in. I haven’t checked Mr Lemon.

Quick wave for now. I hope all are doing well. I just closed a $1000 party last night so the commission will be nice. I also qualified for a couple of nice pieces of jewelry from my company. We are having a promotion celebration zoom tonight. Our upline sent those who promoted this month a wine glass to celebrate. That thing cost $86 on Amazon. She must have plenty of money.
Chele I am not ready for 30's. It is 62 here this morning after a nice 1" rain. I don't think it's supposed to get out of the 70's today. They are saying no more super hot days. We have broken several heat records the last few days.

Congratulations, Becky. 🍾🥂 Enjoy the party. I am glad you are doing well. I bet you’re glad the sizzling heat is over. How are Kenneth, the kitties and Scooter?

Thanks for the start, Chele. How's the back twinge today? Fortunately, I've never done that. Is Mr. Lemon in or out right now? We got down to 37°, but I had reset the thermostat in the spring to only come on if it got down to 62, so it didn't come on all night. I reprogrammed it this morning and the heat pump has kicked on several times.
Kathy, Pluto has a bit of everything. A word of warning, however. Plan to start and finish any On Demand things in one sitting. I didn't realize Casanova was so long and had to pause it to feed Arya. It went back to the beginning when I pulled it back up and did the same thing when the wifi went down a couple of times. Has your weather improved today?
I can't blame my grocery bill on meat, Linda. I did get Arya some beef bone broth, but that was the closest thing to meat in my cart. I saw a sign at the grocery store today that Butterball turkeys were limited to two per customer while supplies lasted, which wasn't going to be for long from the look of that section of the meat case. I hope you're feeling better today. I can't imagine a few baking bits would cause you that much grief, especially since you've been eating a couple pieces of Sees after dinner.
Becky, good to see you, and major congrats on your party success. Keep that fancy wine glass away from the kitties. I'm glad you're getting a little more seasonal with your temps, and you needed that rain. Hopefully you won't make it into the 30s too often this fall/winter.
How was the commute, Liz? Wish you could have worked from home another day. I hope you aren't among the 600,000 customers without power. Sorry to hear that Zoe is having more issues. It gets so hard when they start having problems walking. What does the vet say?
Dale went to pickleball class last night and after he left, I realized I wasn't feeling that great. I took my temp and it was 101.6°. A couple of us were planning to go to the demo garden to winterize the bed we adopted, so I contacted her and she said she hadn't been feeling that well either (different symptoms). So we'll do that another day. I was at 99.7° at last check, so it's going in the right direction. I wasn't anywhere near anyone yesterday, so not sure what I may have come in contact with. Maybe it was just a reaction to the changing weather. My mammogram, which was scheduled 4 months ago, is in the morning. I don't want to have to wait another 4 months. Weather isn't supposed to be very nice either, so I need to recover today for that as well. We have beautiful (but cool) weather today and then rain for most of the next 3 days. Dale may have a chilly, wet run on Saturday.

Karen, don't forget mammograms throw false positives after COVID SHOTS for quite a while..never heard of fever from changing weather.
My dsil and spouse with sON with COViD breakthrough have to retest because it does not show up for a few days sometimes. She had a cold they think. Son's symptoms are like bad sinus infection. He stays in his room and is only one to use hall bath. Since he works nights at casino and sleeps days, they did not have much contact.
Congrats on your great sale, BEcky! Nice to have effort rewarded.
Our lemon and orange trees do not like temps under 40. The leaves sort of blister.
I am feeling better, but stomach still a bit iffy. When I got up yesterday I was horrified to find I had gained weight again! So altogether I was up almost three pounds while DH has lost 14. Bitter. But today it is gone! So I am back to six down in 12 weeks. Phew.
Bob, is off to dermatologist to have a non cancerous keratosis growth removed from top of bald head before it gets bigger and uglier.…we call them barnacles.
I need to get dressed because a guy is coming for annual check and refill on termite bait receptacles in ground around the house. One time installation fee beats nasty toxic expensive power spray into ground by foundation every five years.

Karen, I hope that fever comes down, so you feel better and can get that mammogram. Still say you need a day of rest. Mr Lemon is still out. He looks okay. The back is fine. I didn’t pull anything. It’s just been a little stiff in the lower hip area. I aggravated it a little. Still need to catch up on 9-1-1. I have watched the first 3. I can’t believe Maddie just left like that. We are expecting rain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
We went to Panera for our monthly bagel run and then onto Sam’s Club. They are limiting paper towels and TP to 1 package per customer and bottled water to 3 pkgs per customer. They had about 50 frozen turkeys, limit 2 per customer. We stocked up on frozen fish and also found fresh wild Alaskan salmon. We also got some fruit and veg.
Kathy, Linda, I hope you are well today.

Linda, thanks for the reminder on the effects of the covid vaccine on lymph glands. I will need to remember to mention that I had the booster about 3.5 weeks ago. The fever wasn't in isolation. I have also been dealing with nasal issues but it doesn't seem to be a sinus infection. I hope DSIL and family will feel better soon. I have heard that sometimes covid mimics a bad sinus infection. I hope the weight stays off. Take it easy on the food today. I hope Bob's keratosis removal went well. We had those termite bait receptacles at the old house and they seemed to work well.
I guess today is that day of rest I need, Chele. I didn't have much needing done anyway, so good timing. Fortunately, I will have a mask on at the mammography place and Osteo, so if I am contagious, I shouldn't spread anything. Aren't you glad you have super fresh turkey and don't need to worry about the ones at Sam's Club? Amazing that they are already rationing paper products and bottled water. I wonder if they have a supply chain shortage or if there is a run on them (or anticipated run). What kind of fish did you find? Were you able to get all the bagels you wanted at Panera this time? I was surprised Maddie ran off without the baby. Not surprised Chimney ran after her. That has to be difficult for him on the road with a newborn. I was a little surprised that he didn't make any arrangements for family to help her when she was alone with the baby for nearly a week due to all the craziness with the ransomware attacks. I haven't tried to watch last night's episode, but just realized there wouldn't have been one due to the World Series. So I guess I'm caught up. I think you're only two episodes behind.
Dish is messing with us again. I was able to watch episodes 4 and 5 of this season's Law & Order: SVU, but when I tried to watch episode 6 from last week, it said I didn't have authorization and needed to upgrade. If there was a better option out here, I would be cutting them off. I'm really getting tired of their nonsense.

Six weeks…https://www.wtsp.com/article/entertainment/television/brightside/mammogram-covid19-vaccine/67-5e088084-bed6-4fda-9fd2-34e4fc015b8e
dH only had to have the thing frozen off his head…so not bandages, etc.
No signs of termite nibbles on the bait.
went through both med cabinets and found shocking number of expired things. Had to go replace low dose aspirin, allergy meds and such…yikes that stuff is expensive!
went through my engagement book where I stuff coupons and things for later…whole lot of later there I sorted out.
Need to file this weeks COVID articles into categories for museum. I actually start work again there tomorrow afternoon!
trying to get up ambition to make Bob's bouletten…little loAf shaped German meatballs. Stomach still not thrilled about food.
Dsil and spouse tested negative again..just sinus infection. Son should be able to go back to work soon.

Chele, thanks for the start. Wow on the 34! We won't see that for awhile. Mr. Lemon must've been shivering. Glad the back isn't too bad. I was thinking who's Maddie before I realized it was a TV series! When I'm using Instacart I can see which things are out of stock. I don't see too many issues with paper products yet, but I think there are less options than there used to be. I also see some things that seem to go in and out of stock every other week.
Becky, congrats on the party and bonus gifts! I'm ready for cooler weather, but I'm not ready for the 30s either.
Karen, Casanova was a mini-series on the BBC, but Pluto put all of the episodes together. I gave it a try after you mentioned it. I was looking for a way to keep my place on there and ran into the same thing you did. Oh well, nice to know it's an option for some things. It was a nice day today with highs in the low 80s We're supposed to get another front through tomorrow and they're predicting some wind and rain.
Hope you're feeling better and your temperature is back to normal tomorrow so you can go out. I will echo Chele and say to take a day of rest if you need to. Masks help but don't give 100% protection unfortunately. DM, DS and DM's neighbors didn't have good luck with Dish either. They've all moved on, but I know your options are limited there.
Linda, hope your DSIL and son just have colds. That's a pain to have to retest. Our citrus seems to do okay until it gets into the lower 30s, maybe since it's so much more humid here. Glad the weight disappeared again. I've been trying to just weigh weekly since the fluctuations can drive me nuts. Hope all goes well with Bob's procedure. I have the termite bait receptacles too.

Linda, your last post didn't show up until I posted. Glad all went well with Bob and that the family tested negative.
