1. I usually recognize my desire to eat. Sometimes I resist and sometimes I give in. Over the fall and the winter I usually get a strong desire to eat after four in the afternoon even though I’ve had a snack. Lately I’ve been having a can of seltzer about that time and it seems to keep me away from food. 2. I do have a tendency to feed my hunger and I worry about getting hungry later. Although if I’m busy I can put off eating sometimes. Haven’t had problems with cravings lately but I keep sweets out of the house and that helps. 3. I do like feeling full but not stuffed. The fullest I feel is after dinner because I’ve eaten a large salad. Otherwise I’ve learned to check for satisfaction especially with foods that have too many points/calories to be eating until full. 4. I do fool myself about how much I eat even though I’m a pretty accurate tracker. When I overeat I look at it in the tracker until it starts to show up on the scale and then I do a song and dance and eventually cut back. I have such a hard time cutting back on food. 5. I do check with myself when I’m out of sorts, will eating help the mood? Sometimes I do need to eat then I eat something healthy and not too much. I’ve learned with a lot of my moods food is not the answer. 6. In the past I have felt helpless and hopeless when I gained weight. I felt very powerful when I made goal. That is what I have to remember that I have the power (tools) to manage my weight I just need to use them. 7. I do not have a problem with unfairness. I know I’m in charge here and I do realize this can be a lot of work but I’m the person that needs to do it. Sometimes it is a struggle to figure out what works for you. 8. I did gain my weight back twice but this time I’ve maintained. I know this is for the rest of my life because of my health, I built a support network, and I do these reviews to deal with the mental side of things.

How Thin People Think Characteristics that make dieting difficult: #1: You confuse hunger with the desire to eat. * I eat on a pre journaled schedule for my meals and snacks which eliminates confusing hunger with the desire to eat. I tend to eat the same foods and get tired of what I'm eating so every so often buy something different to get some variety. #2: You have a low tolerance for hunger and cravings * The cravings can be a big problem for me. I dont bring sugar food in my house, if I want a treat I eat it outside my house which continues to work good for me and allows me to maintain at goal! #3: You like feeling full * I dont like feeling full, that's why I pre track only so much food per meal, tracking is key for me in all respects. #4: You fool yourself about how much you eat * I pre track and stick with my journal most days, however, somedays when I eat unplanned food I hate to go back to change my journal but I do it anyway. #5: You comfort yourself with food * Once in a while, not often because of pre tracking. #6: You feel helpless and hopeless when you gain weight * I dont feel this way as I follow the WW diet which I've done for years, I may stray from it once in a while but always go back to it, unfortunately, in the past I gained my weight back when I strayed but not this time. I have a lot of support from my kids, BBR, other online groups and my doctor. My doctor tells me I should only eat beef once a month, she is a great role for me! #7: You focus on issues of unfairness * Not a problem. #8: You stop dieting once you lose weight * I've done this in the past, quit WW, gained weight back and had to lose it. I could get away with this when younger but not at this age as its torture to get the weight off now, it only gets worse with age, believe me! Which ones of these characteristics do you have?

#1: You confuse hunger with the desire to eat -- I know I'm not hungry. I end up eating because I can't think what else to do in that moment.
#2: You have a low tolerance for hunger and cravings -- Yes
#3: You like feeling full -- Sometimes
#4: You fool yourself about how much you eat -- Absolutely! Although I am faithful about tracking, I stop tracking when I know it will put me over the budget for the day. If I didn't track it, I didn't eat it!
#5: You comfort yourself with food -- Sometimes
#6: You feel helpless and hopeless when you gain weight -- I feel like a victim. I feel I have no control over how my body has reacted to what I've done.
#7: You focus on issues of unfairness -- Not an issue. Every body is different. I have to play the hand I've been dealt.
#8: You stop dieting once you lose weight -- Not "dieting." Eating. I never stop eating. Eating is an aspect of lifestyle. Weight gain or weight loss reflects what's going on in my life. I need to keep monitoring my lifestyle. If my weight isn't doing what I want, how has my lifestyle changed? What corrective action do I need to take?

Hey ladies! I was thinking about November starting and then I remembered - Beck Review! I'll have to catch up on the reading but I'll start posting today!
#1: You confuse hunger with the desire to eat X
#2: You have a low tolerance for hunger and cravings X
#3: You like feeling full Yes, I love feeling full. Even though I think it's a good idea to only eat until I'm satisfied, I'm going to start by bulking up my meals with fruits/vegetables.
#4: You fool yourself about how much you eat Yes, I frequently forget what, when, and how much I eat. Tracking is a must!
#5: You comfort yourself with food Absolutely. I like the statement, if hunger is not the problem then food is not the answer, and I've started saying that to myself in times of trouble.
#6: You feel helpless and hopeless when you gain weight X No, but I do feel angry with myself when I'm not on plan, because I know when I'm on plan I'll regret not doing it sooner.
#7: You focus on issues of unfairness X
#8: You stop dieting once you lose weight X

if hunger is not the problem then food is not the answer, That's a gem well worth remembering! Agreed. And I've realized also not to beat myself up when I remember this. It's normal for people to be sad and it's even normal for people to do things to comfort themselves - some people eat, some people drink, some people go shopping, some people call a friend, etc. It's just that the way I do it is in excess and bad for me, the way an alcoholic or a shopaholic have taken it to the point that they're hurting themselves more than helping. So I'm really just acknowledging that that avenue isn't working for me anymore. What does work, I've yet to find, but I know that the feelings will pass if I let them, with or without food.

#1: You confuse hunger with the desire to eat ❌
#2: You have a low tolerance for hunger and cravings ❌ Only when wine is involved.
#3: You like feeling full ❌
#4: You fool yourself about how much you eat ✅ When I’m eating out and I can’t weigh or measure.
#5: You comfort yourself with food ✅ When I’m bored I have a party for 1, in my mouth.
#6: You feel helpless and hopeless when you gain weight ❌ I know exactly how fast it got there. I feel helpless about how quickly it will go.
#7: You focus on issues of unfairness ❌ I’m grateful to know that I actually do have the power to use the skills to control my weight. That’s fair compared to the feeling that “I just ended up _________(gaining, eating, drinking, at a plateau, wearing a larger size, emptying the box, etc.”.
#8: You stop dieting once you lose weight ✅ I reached my WW goal for the 4th time in May 2020. So yes, afterwards, I stopped doing all the things that it took to get me to goal. It’s now17 months of a new lifestyle that I hope to maintain. I’m doing something different this time so that I’ll get a different result? 🤣

How Thin People Think
Characteristics that make dieting difficult, which ones of these characteristics do you have?:#1: You confuse hunger with the desire to eat
I'm getting better at stopping and asking myself if I'm hungry. In fact, I was going to ask the group the other day about this because lately I get up in the morning and I just don't feel like eating breakfast, and I'm okay with waiting for lunch. I mean, is that a bad thing? I don't want to eat just because I just woke up and now I'm supposed to eat.
#2: You have a low tolerance for hunger and cravings I'd say this is a work in progress. I'm much better about this now and can let cravings sit for a longer time until I might give in to them, and then I try to enjoy the hell out of it and know that I have to compensate for it or pay the price at the scale on WI day.
#3: You like feeling full I'm good with this because I hate feeling full, I think this is more or less under control
#4: You fool yourself about how much you eat I don't think I fool myself per se, I know what I'm doing but I sometimes do it anyway.
#5: You comfort yourself with food Totally and absolutely! I have to own my bullshit. Oh I'm bored, anxious, stressed, blah blah blah.
#6: You feel helpless and hopeless when you gain weight I don't really feel helpless, I just get annoyed at myself for allowing it to happen because I know I am the only one who can make the changes and stick to the plan.
#7: You focus on issues of unfairness I might have years ago, but now I know we're all built differently and honestly? If I hadn't developed bad eating habits this wouldn't have happened, so again, like #6 above, it's on me.
#8: You stop dieting once you lose weight Biggest downfall in addition to #5.
