Thanks for the start, Chele. Looks like you were awake early this morning. Hope the sinuses weren't being a problem again. Has your rain moved out yet? Arya and I got wet coming back in from our first trip outside this morning. It was mid 40s when we got up and will only get into the 50s. I wasn't planning to get the sweats out so early, but I'm wearing them today.
Linda, I've had those "they didn't teach that" kids in college, too (maybe some of them also tried that line in HS). Often it was a point made in a required reading assignment that they didn't bother to read. A lot of them don't read well. I got published in a research journal for a study I did linking reading level to performance on a state certification exam and, like they used to say, "reading is fundamental". I think being a teacher these days would be so difficult. DNIL is a welding instructor, so his students tend to be a bit different because they want to be there. Teaching a required class students don't think they should be required to take (English, Math, Science) has to be really difficult. But there are still those few dedicated students who are looking for a future, not just a paycheck, and they can make it worthwhile. Those seem to be fewer and fewer. There are half a million fewer students in colleges this fall and I can't believe it's just about the pandemic. Has Bob relaxed after the road incident yesterday? I agee that motor vehicle records should be a bit more secure than random people being able to search for your license plate online. So probably no problem.
FSU/Clemson may be a competitive game this year, Kathy. I saw this past week that the Clemson QB was on the pre-season Heisman Trophy watch, but it's way out of that competition now. I hope they can get him on the right path again. He's nowhere close to where he was as the backup last year. Are you going to watch GA/FL? I'm afraid the Gators will be blown out, even with it being a home game for them. Have you been watching BBCA? They had an animated episode on this morning between Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi. I watched about 20 minutes of it and wasn't impressed. Looks like they had flooding in Annapolis, MD. Are your relatives close to there ok?
Liz, I hope you have a quiet weekend and the pups are holding their own.
How are things going, Becky?
We had a quiet night, but it might have been a little longer. But "someone" was hungry for breakfast. Now she's in a food coma. It's still raining, so we should have a quiet day. It looks like Dale had a dry start for his race but the rain we're getting is heading in his direction. He said on the phone last night that he plans to be sensible and then told me his ER deductible has gone up to $600. So there better be no injuries or illnesses that would require a hospital visit. Gotta love United Healthcare. Nothing going on here today except football, baseball, and reading. Got everything locked in for the awards dinner including the menu. The other 4 officers are male (a rarity in this organization), so menu decision was a lot less involved than with an all-female board the last time we did this in 2019. Hope everyone will be happy but if they aren't, their problem. I'm over it.
I just heard it's National Candy Corn Day. Anyone here a fan? It's one of my least favorites. Happy Halloween Weekend. Hope you get no tricks.

Karen, I am sure that itās a relief to have the awards dinner plans settled. That is a big deductible. We have had Anthem twice in our life and they were the best over all for us. I hope Dale has a good, safe run. I tried watching Idiocracy once, but it was too real for me. I wanted to pound my head against a wall.
Linda, that was scary having someone follow you. I wouldnāt worry about them coming to find you, though. The Christmas goodies sound nice. Are they going into the pantry or are you breaking into them early?
Kathy, I remember those Jay Leno segments and I was embarrassed to be American. I donāt remember people being so uninformed when I was growing up. Even the ones that didnāt go to college had history and civics knowledge and basic math skills. Math without a calculator is good for teaching critical thinking.
Liz, I hope you are all well. How are the pups? Did you make it to Whole Foods today?
Becky, I hope all is well in your world.
We went to YS farmerās market. It was 54Ā° and misting. We found Bibb lettuce, salad turnips, peppers, cherry tomatoes, candy onions, green beans, eggplant. It will be good eatinā around here. We are having a salmon cobb salad without the bacon today.

texasless91 , Karen, the early wake up was due to aching joints. I couldnāt get comfortable. Sitting in the chair felt much better.

Used to like candy corn but last time I had it, it just tasted like lard and sugar.
the stuff we bought is in a closet until Dec. can't count on anything being there to buy later.
DH seems to have forgotten it, but I bet he has not.
bad night hereā¦something really made ab mad. Cramps all night .muscles now ache. That has been iffy for a few daysā¦not enough fiber on diet with DH, no inspiration to cook. Guess I better fix that.
Think Iwill start a new puzzle today.

Chele, thanks for the spooky start. We used to think we were so funny with that Halloween chant, lol. I donāt remember people being so uninformed either. I remember the math tests where you had to put your calculators away. We were allowed to use them in calculus and some of the other more difficult classes though. Nice haul at the farmerās market. We were about 10 degrees warmer than you this morning. Karen, FSU/Clemson and Florida/Georgia are on at the same time, so I'll watch some of both. (more of FSU of course!) The Florida/Georgia came is always in Jacksonville, so the crowd is usually pretty evenly divided. I'm sure Georgia is glad to never have to go into The Swamp. I've been watching some BBCA. I saw a Peter Capaldi episode with Clara last night and I liked him a lot better with Clara than the companions he had after her. Still my least favorite of the new Doctors though. I haven't heard anything from the Philly relatives, so hope the flooding hasn't affected them. I'm not wild about the regular candy corn, but I like the Harvest Corn with the chocolate on the bottom.
Waving to everyone.

Karen, congrats on the Clemson win. That was some game even if I didn't like the ending! That one FSU TD will be on all the highlight reels. Still too many penalties though, especially towards the end. Both teams seemed to be having problems with being offside for some reason. UCF won handily and my DBIL is very happy with the Michigan State win.

Quiet day with upset ab. Stayed at my dining room table doing a Halloween puzzle. Finally felt better to eat leftover Turkey dinner.
then went insane trying to access HBOmax on tv ā¦we have it through cable. But you have to use an app. Ok added it to Apple box, and signed in with provider.then it wants you signed into the app on a tablet. Not sure how I finally got it to work . But now we can watch Dune.

Kathy, I knew Noles-Tigers would be competitive as both teams are fairly equal. I was resigned to the fact that my teams would be 0-3 for the day and was surprised that Clemson was able to come back, given the way they had played the entire game to that point. Bizarre ending to make the score look less close than the game actually was. That one TD is definitely for the highlight reels. I'm sure your DBIL is ecstatic about the MSU result. They outplayed Michigan at the end. Totally agree with Capaldi being my least favorite Doctor. The Jodie Whitaker episodes are on this morning. I read this article about who might be the next Doctor. Interesting choices. I never had the Harvest Corn. How are you feeling today, Linda? How's the tummy? Would it be possible for your to decrease the amount of food you share with DH and fill the rest of your plate with veggies and fruit? That would help with fiber and would also make the leftovers last longer. We had a time setting up HBO Max, too, and we don't have it through cable or satellite. We get it direct from HBO. Let me know how you like Dune. I think candy corn now isn't anywhere near what it was like when we were kids. I agree on sugar and lard. Chele, how are the joints today? That was quite a haul at YS, especially this late in the year. Are the candy onions fresh or dried? Kind of cool weather for eggplant to be fruiting there. Eatin' good for sure! What's on the menu? Baba Ghanouj perhaps? Dale called a little while ago and is on his way home. Arya started having a problem after I posted yesterday, so it will be good to have help. When she got off the couch mid morning, I heard a little wince, which is unusual for her. Since then she has had difficulty getting on the couch and whines when she gets up from laying down. She had a tough time getting up the doggy stairs into bed last night and twice in the middle of the night she let out a loud yelp when she must have been repositioning in bed. So I didn't get much sleep. She is fine when she's standing or walking. She has a "basset bump" on a hind leg and we have a vet appointment about that next Saturday afternoon. But that doesn't seem to be bothering her. In fact, I can't find any tenderness anywhere that might be causing this. I wonder if she tweaked something getting off the couch. We'll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse. The vet's office has been booked solid for weeks, so if it's something urgent, we might have to go to the emergency vet in KVL. I got her up on the couch with a set of doggy stairs (not her idea) and she's asleep now. Whatever it is doesn't seem to hurt unless she moves a certain way. One of those times when I don't know what's going on so I don't know how to help. Anyway, her appetite is good, so I'm baking butternut squash and cooking ground beef and oats for her. My tummy is still a little rocky but I managed to eat yogurt and fruit for dinner last night. That's the first "solid" meal I've had since Wednesday. Did anyone get trick-or-treaters last night or are you expecting them this evening?

Happy Sunday, Trick or Treaters.
We havenāt passed out candy in years. We got tired of the almost adults in street clothes with pillow cases begging for candy. We will keep the porch light off and go upstairs. Even with the lights off we still get a few people ringing the bell.
Iggy made baba ghanouj this morning. The eggplants were tiny so we bought 5 of them. He is also cooking the green beans with onion and garlic
Karen, Poor Arya. Maybe she pulled a muscle. Teddy did that and acted the same as Arya is acting. I hope your GI issues continue to improve. The joints are better today.
Linda, howās the tummy today?
Kathy, sorry about the FSU loss. Any Halloween candy at your house?

Micki hurt his back once, probably jumping down off the bed. He has an ottoman at foot of bed to jump to first. He had meds and laser pain treatments to help speed it along.
hope you can see your vet.
feel better today.

Karen, what did you think of the Doctor Who episode? I enjoyed it. I Hope Arya is okay. It does sound like a pulled muscle or some kind of injury. Glad the GI issues are improving.
Chele, no Halloween candy here this year. I will just keep my lights off too. I looked at the candy Publix had and none of it looked that appealing. We'll get some good chocolate candy at our favorite store in NSB for Christmas, so I'll have some of that. Glad the joints are feeling better today.
Linda, glad you're feeling better.

.86 this week, a bit above norm. Weather finally down to high 70s with breeze at sunset. Our neighbors are partly sitting in chairs out in driveways with table for candy. Some have fire pits! Dogs in back yards are already barking.
We have a small table with bowl and my lit up maple tree under it. A little stool that is low is by it for the little ones with candy in it. I am sitting on our sidewalk to the front door about 8 feet away where my wifi still works.
couple bags of candy were already gone while we ate early dinner.

By 7 we were out after 60 bags of fun size. I left the table with the sign until 8 so they knew we had run out. While Bob brought it in, there was a mob across the street. There are only about 30 in our neighborhood including teens! Saw a big van drop off 12 and pick them up. Other cars did that.
