Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Another week begins!!! Funny I started the thread 5 minutes ago- walked away to get dressed and brush my teeth- and we have 5 viewers and most do not stop into say hello.
Ruth, hope that the snow you are experiencing is not significant and is merely a nuisance snow. Just checked my phone and if that is correct, you are just going to have a cold and cloudy day. Hope those errands go quickly for you and that you can get back home in a timely manner. Glad you have the written directions/chart for the hat you are working on. I have only made a video once (and someone else actually made the video for me) but I do remember that its a challenge having the camera or phone angled in such a manner that it covers what you want it do and still shows everything well. I got another email from Joanns for free shipping- were you able to order that green yarn that you only had a small amount of?
I hope to take out the saw and start work on the easy to make quilt rack. (Let’s see how easy to make it is for me!!!). Will wait for Ds to get up before I take on that noisy project.
CJ- how is your finger feeling?? Did you finish the fall frolic quilt top?
Phyl- hope you are doing well and feeling comfortable
Sue- when do you have another meeting to discuss getting care for Dh? Were you able to get help moving the furniture items that you wanted relocated?
See ya later Ginny

Well I was out working in the yard with Ds…tried to move something really heavy….and my back did not appreciate it. So I will rest it now- probably put some ice on it. Guess that is it for me for yard work for today. Just took an advil (I am not in pain but know its an anti inflammatory ) and have ice on it….guess I’d better behave myself.
On a brighter note- I did get the lumber cut for the quilt ladder. Will put it together tomorrow I suppose.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well and that we all have a great November. October sure seemed to go by quickly. Ginny - Your Merry Christmas signs you made are cute. I'm sorry to hear you have hurt your back I hope taking the Advil and icing it will help. Ruth - Hope you didn't get too much snow and that you were able to get out today. Sue and Phyl - Hope you are doing well. We had a sunny day here, with temperatures in the 50s. Nice Fall weather. I made the next block for Pat Sloan's Happy Everything quilt along today, it was a block of a mug and is a cute pattern. I'd like to make it in some other fabrics sometime: blog.patsloan.com/2021/11/-happy-everything-block-5-bonus-block-.htmlI also starched and pressed some fabrics for a new quilt top. I bought a kit from an online store and I'd like to start cutting the pieces for it so I'll be ready to work on it. Take care everyone!

I thought I posted here earlier but obviously not. I wasn't one of the initial five viewers though because I did come in and read and that was shen I thought I posted.
The snow wasn't bad at all. It was barely measureable. It was cold though. We went to 4 places, bought a lot more groceries than we though we would so are prepared for several weeks since we don't buy fresh milk and don't often find fresh fruits and veggies that we want
CJ, that mug square is very cute and I'm sure that your's will be much better than the one shown on that link. Not that that one is bad, it's just kind of bland.
Ginny, I'm so sorry you hurt your back! Yes ice and anti imflammatories should help. Don't lift heavy things anymore.
I'm still workingon the mosaic hat. The pattern goes from row 1-14 then you repeat rows 3-14 then decrease for the top. I'm nearly done with row 14 so will be starting the repeat this evening.

Good morning!!! CJ- you sure have been busy. you made no mention of your finger, so that must be good news that its just fine or healing nicely. Have you had this quilt kit for a long time? It would be helpful if the directions are easy….we can all attest to the frustration of not so good directions. The cup mug is adorable….and I think the whole quilt is cute. I am sure you picked out perfect fabrics for it.
Ruth, glad you got those errands done and are stocked up for awhile now. Is each row of the mosaic hat different ?? I wonder how the repeat process will go for you, but as there is no decreasing it should be fine as you are already used to what the designer had you stitch.
Funny Ruth mentioned fresh fruits and veggies…I was almost ready to buy one of those kind of pricey bags of precut frozen fruits for smoothies. Then I remembered I had frozen bananas, blueberries and pineapple- when I bought them fresh and could not finish the fresh fruit quickly enough. So I left the pricey stuff in the store and will make my own fruit assortment for my smoothie.
Thanks for your concern over my back. Its stiff today but I am taking no pain relief. What I injured it was dragging the orange tree in . Its too large for one person to lift- would probably take 3 very strong people to lift. Its almost 6 feet tall. And in a huge pot- I drag it in. Got it about 20 feet across the back yesterday and now I just need to get it in the house. Ds will do it, unless I become even more stubborn today and try to do that myself- because I got it all the way to the french door.
I did get the wood cut yesterday for my quilt ladder- Have to sand the pieces and decide if I want the ladder stained or finished with Chaulk paint. I have both- the poly shades (stain and polyurethane all in one) and the paint. I am looking for an easy finish- will probably try to use the stain on a piece of leftover lumber to see if I like that finish. I think the stain (if its close to the right color) will probably be best bases upon what I have in the room.
See ya later Ginny

Good afternoon all. I hope you're all having a great day. Ginny, I'm sure your quilt ladder will be beautiful. I remember the coffee table you refinished when I was first here on the thread. It was amazing. Well today is warmer than yesterday. The rest of the week is supposed to be also. I have a lot of things I need to do in the house today. I didn't really get anything done yesterday with being out so long and then tired when I got home. At least I got a lot of exercise in while walking in all the stores and carrying in bags.I have to wait until dh wakes to do the kitchen and dining room work since they're over the bedroom Having a floor plan like this never really worked well for us since I always worked night shift and had to sleep during the day. It was ok when everyone was at school or work.

Ruth, shopping is a lot of work, especially if you are in and out of several stores. I bet you got a workout loading and unloading everything from the car…. Shopping in itself is not so bad, its just so much of a hassle putting the stuff away… I hear ya loud and clear about a bedroom below a kitchen. Same goes at my house, and Ds (who worked night shift for about 3 years) has his bedroom just below the kitchen. It made for a challenge when he was sleeping…we ended up getting a super quiet dishwasher when it was time to replace ours and he was still on midnights. You must be enjoying the warmer weather.
So I made the quilt ladder today. I am not an excellent woodworker and it will probably fall apart if a sparrow lands on it. ha ha ha. But using $13 of low grade lumber, chalk paint I had and some screws, there it is. It fills a corner of the room that needed some height. I guess I got inspired from working with wood on Friday night. Only this project is much cheaper!!! My friend and her husband came over and got the massive orange tree in for me, as we are supposed to go down to about 30 tonight. My back feels pretty good- just a tiny bit achy. I am going to take tylenol for a headache but certainly not for my back.
Have a good evening all Ginny

Ginny, your quilt ladder is wonderful and so is the quilt! And it looks fantastic there in your bedroom. And what a good price. You took some inexpensive lumber and make a great addition to the bedroom and your home. I love it.I'm happy to hear that your back is feeling better and that your friends came over and got the plant inside for you.. I hope the headache is soon gone.I'm fortunate in that regard because I rarely get a headache anymore
Wonder what CJ's doing today. CJ you are missed
Phyl and Sue, we miss you also.

CJ- hope you are doing ok and are happily working on your next project!!!
Sue- have you been able to get your furniture moved??Hope you have been able to make some headway with the plans you have for Dh’s care and getting help.
Phyl,- how are you feeling? Were you able to get to a sewing day, like you had hoped to?
Don’t look closely at the ladder….lots of “issues”. But from a distance and with a quilt hanging over it to hide those mistakes, it does not look too bad.
Looking forward to the time change this weekend. I can handle the sun setting early in the day, but dislike getting up in darkness which lasts for so long. Got a few things I need to take care of today, some banking issues (should be able to do all that online) and I think my friend was going to walk with me again today.
Ruth, good to see you check in! Did you finish the mosaic hat?

Good afternoon to those in the eastern time zone. It's still morning here and a nice sunny day and 50degrees so far. I woke up thinking that today was Saturday and it still feels like a Saturday to me.
Ginny, thanks for reminding me about banking. I need to do my bill paying for the month...also online. I hope you can get your banking issues taken care of.Oh and thanks for reminding me about the time change. I really dislike having it get dark early but I can also understand how you must dislike getting up in the dark in the morning.
No I haven't finished the mosaic hat yet.I've been doing too many other things and wasting time also. And a book I had on hold became available so have been reading that some.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Your quilt ladder is so pretty, it's wonderful that you can display your quilts on it I hope your back is feeling better. Ruth - I'm glad you are enjoying some nice weather, hope you can get your bills done We had a rainy, cold day here yesterday, but today it's been sunny - still a bit cold in the 40s. I need to get used to adjusting the heat in the house again. I had a system last year where I'd get it warm by mid-evening so that it stayed warm all night without it getting too hot upstairs. I forgot to do that last night and it was pretty cold in the house by morning. I finished up some work on my Happy Everything blocks, so I'm ready for the new one next Monday. I also pressed some fabric for the new Fall Frolic block today and hope to get those cut and the blocks finished in the next few days. Hope all of your are getting to do some crafting too

Ruth, well - glad you were able to get the book you had on hold. Hope its pleasurable read and you find it relaxing. Did you get your banking done??
CJ, well, winter is coming - were you able to adjust your heat so it is comfortable at night?? I prefer it cooler at night almost to the point where it is cold. Are you pleased with how the Happy Everything blocks turned out? Love how you are so organized at getting set up for your next project on the fall frolic blocks.
Got some fabric cut to start making more prairie point ornaments….gonna be cold here tonight. Ginny

Ginny, I hope it didn't get too cold. Were you able to get out to get your booster? It's about 60 degrees here but strong wind. I did go out and do my walking for the day then came in to try to make order out of chaos but right now it looks worse in here than when I started. I did get the mosaic hat done. It's beautiful if I do say so myself. I can see a lot of these in my future now that I understand the pattern better. Now I need to decide what to do next. I might drag out all the toys I have stashed and start wrapping for Christmas. I probably won't do that today because the urge to sit and crochet is hitting me. I was trying to use up some bulky yarn last night so tried hats but that didn't work out well for me as it made my wrists hurt. I need to think of something else to use it for. I have a lot of Lion Brand thick and quick and a lot of Hometown USA which are both #5 I think but feel like they're thicker. I did make dh a laptop case with some of it last year. I also made some slippers for myself and they worked great so maybe I'll make more of those but it'll take a lot of slipper making to use up all that I have. Lion was practically giving away the thick and quick a couple years ago so, of course, I had to get some. What are all of you up to today?
