Ruth, I bet if you look on Lion Brands site you can limit the patterns based upon the yarn size used. Of course easy throw afghans would be perfect using that #5 yarn, as it would work up so quickly. Would you consider making slippers for your adult female family members? That would use up some yarn. Good to hear that you got some walking in today!! 60 degrees is pleasant walking weather as long as it is not too windy. That is wonderful to hear that you are so pleased with the mosaic hat and that it is DONE!. That was a pattern worth struggling through to make sense out of if it turned out so pretty. I kind of hope that you decided to crochet this afternoon…you can wrap Christmas gifts tomorrow!!! Your description about closet cleaning sounds a lot like what I usually do. I get so far- and part of it looks pretty good and then I cannot figure out what to do with the rest of the stuff and it looks worse than I started. You are not alone.
I worked this am…then picked up my neighbor. We went to BJ’s and got our boosters. CVS told me to drink 16 oz of water before the booster, which I did. I spoke to the pharmacist about that and she said that it was her experience that those who drink all that water before the shot experience less side effects. Right now I feel pretty good and my arm is not sore at all.
Got together with Jane for tea this afternoon, and besides solving all the worlds problems over tea, we discussed quilting and crafting. So I got my crafting in today!!
Have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get your booster. I think that CJ mentioned that she also was told to drink that amount of water before her vaccines. Dh and I weren't told to do that but I did tell him that CJ had mentioned it but we both kind of forgot both times. And over tea is a good place to solve the world's problems . I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes an area look great then can't figure out what to do with the things that are left. Mostly I did that because I was looking for my large crochet hooks in the brand that works best for me.I found them. That surprised me And thank you for mentioning Lion's site. I forgot all about that. It's a fantastic idea. I don't know if the women and girls in my family would wear those slippers or not. I've never seen any of them using slippers except my dd one time when I gave her a nice pair that were store bought and she wore those all the time.Crochet slippers do sometimes feel a little painful to the feet. The ones I made this time did feel comfortable on my feet. And I don't know what size to make everyone. Some of them have large feet. We're supposed to have a couple more days of good weather so I can hopefully get in some more outdoor walking. A friend of mine walks inside her house but listens to audio books while she walks. I've read so much in the last 18 years that it's hard to find good audio books... in fact it's getting hard to find any good books any more with the way the library's online site is now set up CJ, it sounds like you are, as usual, keeping up very well with your quilt alongs. It has to be so nice to be surrounded by all the beautiful quilts and quilt tops you've made over the years. Well I've blabbed enough. See you all in the morning. I'm working on a new project so will get back to that.

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you've been having nice weather so that you can get out and walk. I checked out crocheted mosaic hat picture on the Internet and it looks beautiful, as I'm sure yours is. They will be nice gifts. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get your booster shot and I hope you don't have any side effects. It's nice that you have friends you can visit with and have a cup of tea. Sue - Hope you and your DH are doing well and you are getting some help. Phyl - Hope you are well. It's been cool/cold here for a few days, but sunny. It looks like it's going to be milder next week. I finished making my two versions of this week's Fall Frolic block and I'm happy with them and how the 4 blocks look together for each version. I think I will do one in the setting that Pat Sloan has given for this quilt along but the other one I think I'll do in a different setting. I hope I can get some more quilting and/or embroidery done this weekend. I have gotten a bit more done on the embroidery of the barn and finished all the curved stitches so just straight line embroidery is left, which I find easier. I mostly do a stem stitch, but I wish I could get good at the backstitch since I like how that looks. Hope you are all having some nice weather and that you get to do some crafting today and this weekend. Take care!

Hello crafting friends!
CJ, I'm going to have to look up stem stitch. I think I know what back stitch is and I may have used it for a pattern where I was supposed to sew yarn onto a zipper in order to crochet the zipper onto a little bag. That didn't work out very well for me.
I just got back from my mailbox. There was a Mary Maxim catalog amoung the mail items and I'm really tempted to buy the kit for a agfan on page 47. It's a Nativity scene done in filet crochet. I've done filet before but not in such an extensive and intricate pattern. It would definitely test my skills. So I have to decide.
I hope you're still having a good day CJ and that you can get all accomplished that you have planned for the weekend.
Ginny, how's your arm feeling today and do you have any other side effects? I'm hoping no side effects at all.

CJ- glad you are so happy with how your fall frolic blocks and I think its wonderful that you are going to design a different setting for the the alternate blocks. Your eye for scale, design and color is good- bet its going to look so pretty!!! Give the back stitch a try! Stem stitch is nice, but back stitch is really just as easy once you get used to it. What curved stitches did you use for the embroidery of the barn??
Ruth, well I took out my new Mary Maxim catalog, and that afghan is just so pretty. Much beyond my ability level….but certainly up to yours. Which color would you make the afghan out of? I really liked the subtle beauty of the ecru- which is what they had the large picture of. Would you keep it for yourself or give it as a gift?
Worked this am….and have 2 new trainees. So I talked a LOT- which happens early on in training. And the one trainee asks a ton of questions- and actually asks things that go off topic a bit. 3 hours of talking….yikes. I feel pretty good.my arm really is not sore at all- unless I put pressure on it. And I had a super minor headache for part of today and am slightly tired.
Think I will watch a movie or read…and try to get a good night sleep. Ginny

Ginny, filet crochet is actually pretty easy if a little time consuming. And really some are not that time consuming either if they are repetitive. This one is definitely going to be more time consuming because of all the different directions the filet part goes in. You'd have to pay very close attention tothe directions or chart and I think you could do it will no problem if you had the time. You do have a lot of projects going and you also work so I'm sure you wouldn't have the time to do this all in one marathon of crocheting. You could, though, do it as you did the embroidered pillowcases....a little at a time.I know your skill level would not be an issue.I doubt, though, that you want to add another major project to your list right now.
I'm glad you were feeling well enough to work yesterday and that the arm soreness and headache were minor.
It's a sunny and warm (60 degrees) day but still windy.
I didn't get much in the way of actual crocheting done yesterday. My crafting was mostly looking at the completed projects people made in the crochet groups and looking at the patterns. I really need to change my habits and get to more actual crocheting.

Well covid is closer than I thought. I just found out that my neighbor who recently had two types of cancer has it. Her brother came to my door by accident thinking that our other neighbor lived here and he told me that his sister has it and has been in the hospital for a week so far. I didn't think to ask him if she had had the vaccine. I know the two other neighbors ...really the only ones I know....did have the vaccine. The neighbor he was looking for is the seriously friendly one that knows everyone in the neighborhood and he and the woman who has covid are close friends so this could possibly spread thru our neighborhood.

Ruth, I will pray for protection for you and Dh - and that you did not through some accidental contact - get exposure to covid. I am very sorry to hear about your neighbors sister.- I pray that she is getting the best medical care possible and can prevail over this awful disease without any lasting impact on her health. its a scary illness. I have family members (who are at least not in an age deomographic where it is a great risk) who refuse the vaccine. This is not a time to be stubborn, IMO- even if you do not like the politics of one politician or another. DSIL has an uncle who I just learned about- he was hospitalized with covid for several weeks- and still has very low oxygen levels. They say he will not be back to normal for 2 months….and he is in a high risk age demographic and unvaccinated. Ok, I will step off my soap box.
Got some leaves raked today and did get to spend some time with dd and DGS- who gets more and more cute each day.. My arm is just a tiny bit sore and only when you touch it, and I did get a small headache this afternoon. Absolutely minimal. Think you might be right Ruth, perhaps I could handle filet crochet, but its just not something I want to take on. Counted cross stitch is so pretty- Jane just showed me a project she just finished that is SO pretty. But I no longer have the patience to do that. I have other things I would rather work on. Anyway, Ruth, are you going to order that kit from Mary Maxim?? They have so many pretty colors to choose from, but I really like the neutrals a soft beige, off white or light grey.
Think I am going to take out the garbage and then work on an ornament. I have everything I need to start another one out and ready. Just gotta sit down and get busy.
Hi to CJ…..Phyl and Sue. Ginny

Hello Ginny - That sure was a lot of talking. I give you a lot of credit for training new drivers I'm glad you didn't have any major side effects from the vaccine booster. Ruth - I'm sorry to hear that the virus has come so close to where you live and I hope that you and your DH will not get sick. This variation of the virus has been so contagious and affects each person so differently If you do decide to order the crochet kit, I hope you will enjoy making it - I checked it out on their website and it's a beautiful piece. The weather here was cool again and partly sunny, not bad at all. Guess I have to remember to set all my clocks back tonight. I don't have as many as I used to have years ago. I pulled out the 6 small quilted pieces I have ready for binding and picked out binding fabric for them. I was able to find binding I already had made to use for 3 of them and cut the fabrics for the binding for the other 3. I'm hoping I can make that binding tomorrow and then I'll be ready for sewing the binding on each one this coming week. Take care everyone

Thank you Ginny. We don't have much contact with the neighbors but the one that's friends with this woman does stop over sometimes and I'm sure he's spent a lot of time with her so I hope he doesn't stop by now for awhile.
I haven't made up my mind on this kit. I do agree with you on the colors. If I buy it it will be in one of the colors you mentioned. And I can sure see why you wouldn't want to try this project. With so many that you'd rather do why subject yourself to the stress of having something else take up so much of your time and it's not even one of the favorites amoung your crafts.
One of the sad things about getting old is seeing so many people pass away. Just a little while ago my dh's cousin called to tell him that another of her brothers and one of her sisters died. Dh didn't know this brother as he was the oldest of his aunt's 8 children and much older than dh. We both knew her sister who was the youngest of the 8. Another sister has lung cancer metastasized to her brain. The saddest part is they didn't know the Lord

Good morning and Happy Sunday!!! I have only one more clock to reset in the house- gotta change the clock in the car which, thankfully, is not too difficult to change.
Ruth, just remember to keep yourselves isolated from this neighbor for about 10 days. And its ok to chat with him- but outside and at a distance. (Last weekend my friends stopped over when I thought that perhaps I had been exposed through my grandkids….and I just warned my friends not to come in or get close to me). Remember the critical time for being contagious is usually about 4-5 days before the onset of the disease….and after exposure. The 10 day window they give you is an outside number. It sounds like you and Dh are just fine, just keep your distance. I am so very sorry for the losses you just found out about in your Dh’s family. Its sad to think that they might have not known the Lord- I like to think that we never really know what was in another person’s heart, what they were exposed to in their lives or who their final influences were. Its sad to see others pass- I well remember my mom telling me that she was really the last of her friends and relations and that it was a lonely feeling at times. Guess we have to focus on those who are here (you are blessed with many grandchildren and great grands) and your faith.
CJ- your dedication and organization is admirable (and frankly blows me away!!). Sounds like this is binding week for you - which you will probably be glad is over with when you are done. Is adding a binding anyones favorite thing to do? (I think not). Are you impacted by that storm in the southeast that is bringing a lot of rain and wind??? They did indicate that it is creeping up toward the Mid- Atlantic. Hope you can stay safe and dry. I am sure you are going to be working on those quilt bindings and checking out neat stuff online. I always appreciate your new finds in the crafting/quilting world. You sure do access some cool web sites and blogs.
I did work on another ornament last night and this am. Pretty sure this one (Which I will make two in a similar color scheme) will be for Jane, as I know she likes medium green- a dominant color in this particular ornament.
Gotta shower up and get a walk in! Ginny

CJ, I somehow missed your post. I see a lot of binding is in store for you this week. And how nice it is that you found some binding was already prepared. I've never sewn binding on anything but It sounds very tricky. I hope your weather stays nice
Ginny, you are coming right along on those ornaments. Yes if green is Jane's favorite she will especially love receiving those ornaments that you lovingly made for her.
YOu're definitely right about us not knowing what is in the hearts of others. Both the cousins died suddenly in their sleep so we don't even know what happened in the final moments of their lives.
