Hi friends,
I thought I would get us started since I'll be out the door shortly to head to the Cape. It's officially moving in day! DH already left to meet the movers at 8:30 and I will follow along after I take care of the pups and pack a few things from the hotel. We will stay down there for a couple nights and come back on Sunday to the hotel. I haven't decided if I will come back up and go to the office - boss is traveling in CA so probably not necessary, but we'll see.
I had a little different/confusing encounter with my boss yesterday. I told him that we will be staying in a hotel a couple nights a week for two months for DH and I am happy to work two days a week. I think he is under a lot of pressure with our new President and my boss can't make up his mind if he's okay with my working remotely or not. I spoke to HR - on my boss's recommendation. The HR director popped over and told me that he'd like me to stay and I can work remotely from the Cape- I didn't even broach the subject. I am meeting with the HR director soon to sit down and figure things out. I do feel it is up to my boss since I support him. I don't want to use the power of HR to overstep him since that would make for a miserable situation. Although most of our staff is in the office 3, 2 or 1 day a week, he has it in his head he'd like people there more. Many folks are full time at home with one day in. It's a strange world with COVID. I will put this out of my head for now and get moved into the house. Maybe the higher powers are sending me a message to retire! :-)
Anyhow, that is about it for this morning. Off to the Cape and I will try to drop a note later if I am not too tired.
Ann, good luck with the test results. Sue, so glad your friends with Covid are recovering and thank goodness they had the vaccine. Pam, I hope your DH continues to do well with his foot and glad you had a fun chat with the DGKs and got the school photo!

Good morning friends and thanks for the start, Judy. I slept well and most grateful. Today Carl is doing the BJ's run and will pick up some wine and do other errands in that area. I shall remain at home with Benjamin. We will have mom/son time Judy I hope that it all works out well for all of you re: working. It's a hard situation. You are wise to put it out of your head for now and concentrate on the MOVE. Thanks for the good wishes on the test results. Still playing the waiting game. Waving and shall CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Friday! I also slept very well going to bed early (around 9) and sleeping until 8 this morning. I am not surprised as I have been unusually tired the past couple of days. I always seem to get this at this time of year. I will welcome the time change (though I think it is a stupid idea) this year.
Yesterday was an easy day at school (pizza day) and I made a quick easy supper of Parmesan Noodles with (imitation) Krab meat and green beans on the side. I have thawed out some grilled chicken breasts for tonight and we have sweet potatoes and I may ask DH to make a salad as we haven't had one all week.
I have started putting the house in order and will be putting in a load of laundry soon. I have a handful of errands to run (including grocery shopping) and then I'll be back home. Fortunately I don't have anything on my calendar for this weekend (except lunch with DH and DBIL on Sunday). So I plan to get everthing done. Next weekend is just the opposite with lots going on.
Ann ~ I know waiting can be very tedious, but once your results come in you'll be so relieved. I think I will thaw out some pork chops for this weekend. :-)
Judy ~ I think you are right to be patient with your work situation. I also agree about not playing "the HR card" if it might create an uneasy climate between you and your boss. I am sure it will all work out.
Pam ~ Hope your DH is doing well and that you aren't overdoing.
I have a pretty good handle on my chores for today and just need to get back to them.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hello friends! Today is gloomy and cool, but I'll take that over hot and clear. Debbie and I walked, but after about 2.5 miles, I felt something pop in my foot and intense pain. I hobbled back home and took off my shoe, but no visible injury. It feels better, but still hurts when I walk, so I'm thinking a muscle or tendon strain/sprain. I hope it heals quickly. We had a visit from the Generac company and have made the initial payment to have a whole house generator installed. We went ahead and payed extra for a 10 year maintenance/warranty so we won't have to worry about that in the future, when costs will surely have gone up. They should have the gas line dug and everything done within a month or so. Next on the agenda will be replacing all the windows in the house, another costly, but necessary job. This afternoon I need to make a hospice visit and get floors cleaned. Tonight, DH and I will visit our favorite local restaurant for drinks and dinner to celebrate his 70th birthday. Tomorrow, DD1, DGKs and DD2 will come for lunch and we will celebrate both DH's and DD1's birthdays. She was born 36 minutes after his birthday ended. He says I just didn't push hard enough. I said she wanted to have her own birthday. DH's wound didn't leak through the cast, but his foot was very wet and wrinkled yesterday, so the doctor opted to go back to twice/week cast changes. The wound was pretty much the same, but .2 centimeters less in length. I will take whatever progress we can get. In spite of my efforts this week, the scale was up .9 at official WI this morning. I will attribute that to the Mexican food I had for lunch and dinner yesterday and proceed with caution. Breakfast was cherry/almond/pecan OO and dinner will be seafood gumbo. Not sure yet what I will have for lunch, but am leaning towards a ham sandwich. Judy - I am sure there are many like your boss who want to go back to the 5 days in the office, but I believe that ship has sailed and things will never go back to pre-Covid ways. I can't imagine a 90 minute commute in your winter climate will work well. Ann - Enjoy that quality time with your "son" Benjamin. Sue - Sounds like you have a full and busy day planned.

So far it's been a very productive day. The only load of laundry (for today) is in the dryer. I have cleaned and descaled the humidifier and refilled it with fresh distilled water, so it's all ready for tonight.
I have done up just about everything here in the house and eaten lunch, so when I fold that load of laundry I can be off to my rounds. I have to go to the Credit Union, then to the Hallmark store to make a return and buy a birthday card, all before grocery shopping. I would also like to get my car washed.
I have unpacked some sweaters from downstairs and made room for them on a shelf in my bedroom. I think it is going to be sweater-weather all too soon <LOL> And I have some beautiful ones, all gifts from DH. Speaking of which, I have started my Christmas shopping with a couple pair of Lands End jeans for DH. They are due to arrive tomorrow, even though when I ordered them they were on back order. I was fearful of waiting too long to order them, for fear I wouldn't get them. Already (this early) the promotional offers did not include men's jeans. I'll feel better just knowing I already have them.
I just enjoyed a lunch of cottage cheese and cantaloupe which was very tasty as well as satisfying.

OUCH Pam. Also praying that your foot heals quickly. Maybe soaking it in Epsom salt will help. Just a thought. Oh I get it's a great relief to have that $$$ work done and kudos on getting the extended warranty to put your minds at ease. I am with you on taking whatever progress you can with DH's foot. Prayers continue. I'm sure it was sodium that had you up. Great attitude to KOKO keep on keeping on. Yes I am so enjoying my 'son time' I took him out back for what quickly turned into a full fledged sniff a thon. It was nice so I really didn't mind. Sue I too get both tired and hungry this time of the year. I still can't quite wrap my head around changing the clocks....but whatever. I'm just happy that I don't suffer from SAD where people can't tolerate it getting darker earlier. I've always been a fan of night People used to call me (and still do) BAT lady lol. Enjoy your laid back time before next week where you will once again be busy. Also, enjoy those loin pork chops I will most definitely look for them. Hannaford's is offering a 10% off discount on Veteran's Day so we will take advantage of that. Hopefully we'll score the chops I'm happy to say that all my 'this and that' turned into an entire house cleaning. It's all done and so am I. My dear uncle used to say 'Ann works hard and plays hard'...I never knew what that meant. Guess he had me pegged at an early age LOL. Waving and will try to CBL...if not catch y'all on the flip side. Oh...forgot to mention that the gal from my PCP office called and all my blood work is great. She is pleased. She asked me if I wanted the 'numbers' and I said nope...I said I trust her opinion as she is extremely thorough. Only test that isn't back yet is the infamous Lyme test....so I'll just keep on waiting! Cheers

I am also back home and all done for the day. I had my car washed first, then went to the CU and ordered new checks and then took out some cash to have in my purse. Then I grocery shopped - using a booklet of store coupons they had mailed to me as well as ingredients for a couple of "cooler weather" recipes and stocked up on some pricier items to have on hand (like DH's cough syrup and extra Tide and brush heads for my Sonicare tooth brush) while I was using my BC coupons. I ended up with $75 off with BC coupons as well as $10+ in Meijer coupons - so I only spent $33. That tickled me (weird sense of humor I guess).
I went on to the Hallmark store and returned two things I purchased last Friday then changed my mind. I found the perfect birthday card for a friend's surprise 50th birthday party next weekend. Then I stopped in Starbuck's and bought a gift card to put inside her birthday card. By this time I had been gone from home for almost 4 hours. I started home, then wished I had a coffee treat. On the last leg of my trip there is a 7-11 store easy to get into and out of. I have lived here 16 years and never been in that store. But the nice man there helped me find what I wanted and I came home with a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I put the groceries away and then sat down to enjoy my treat shortly before DH came home.
He had to stop and buy all fresh groceries for salad and has made us a delicious looking one as well as chopped up two chicken breasts to go on top. Easy and healthy supper.
Have a restful evening and sweet dreams .....
