Thanks for the start, Karen. Does Dale have any side effects from his shot? I guess it is football afternoon for you two.
Linda, some of those breads look good.
Kathy, good luck with your teams today.
Liz, what did the vet say?
We moved the TV and Apple TV from the bedroom to the basement. We didnāt watch it much up there. Now I donāt have to watch on my mini iPad when I am working out. Yay!
Have a good Saturday. I only have 2 clocks to turn back-the microwave and the stove.

Chele, thanks for the start and the good luck wishes. That'll be nice to have the TV where you workout. I have a couple of clocks with batteries that I'll have to turn back in addition to the stove and microwave. The car clock has to be turned back too. Do newer cars do that automatically?
Liz, the mockingbirds have quite a few calls that they cycle through that sound like other birds. I can tell when it's a mockingbird since they change the call after a few tweets. I haven't done too much shopping yet, but should get to it. I'm in my usual position of not knowing what people want! You're way ahead of me with having things wrapped. I have a couple of gadgets that I have yet to use, so hanging my head too, lol. Glad to hear the pups are doing okay, but hope they can do something for Zoe. Hope all went well at the vet.
Linda, I was going out to the parking lot from work one day and heard someone trying to start their car or so I thought. I kept hearing the sound and realized it was coming from a mockingbird up in a tree. I guess he'd heard the sound all day, so he was imitating it. Too funny on one imitating your whistle. Hope your dsil and brother test negative.
Karen, I'm sure the snow on Mt. LeConte is pretty. We're having a rare day of being in the 60s and the rain has moved out. Good luck to your teams. Mine should be done about the time yours are starting. Hope Dale is doing okay. Pretty colors in your avatar.

Kathy, I think I would vote for the scrub jay, too. They are adorable. However, the flamingo is iconic Florida, so tough choice. Sounds like you're having a nice day after yesterday's deluge. Your temps sound more seasonal (for your part of the world anyway). We got down to 34 this morning, so the coldest weather we have had for several months. Things don't look like they're going well for the Noles. Can't believe UCF is in such a tight one with Tulane.
Thanks for checking in yesterday, Liz. I feel so bad for your girl. I hope the vet had some options for you today. I know the haircut feels wonderful. I hope you found some good things at WF. Too bad about the Thanksgiving plans. Is DS planning to breed her boy and that's why they won't neuter? I guess that means no Black Friday shopping with DS either. That will give you a nice long recuperative weekend however (I hope). Good luck with the performance reviews on steroids. Must be another reorg coming for them to be scrutinizing so closely.
Linda, I'm guessing there was a good deal of restoration on that pub sign if it was displayed outdoors in the AZ heat for 20 years. The museum would be a fascinating place to work with all that historical stuff. Thanks for the quick bread recipes. Some of them look pretty incredible. I even thought about maybe making the Coconut Rum Banana Bread to enter in next year's fair--then I remembered I probably won't bother entering next year's fair because it's never worth my time to enter baked goods there. The Roated Garlic & Mushroom Batter Bread does include yeast, so I guess someone missed that when they compiled this list of recipes. Poor Micki with the mockingbirds calling him in. That could be confusing for your boy.
I figured the bread would come out good, Chele. You might be able to do what Linda suggested and do the first rise in the Zo. Have you decided what to take to DN#2's for Thanksgiving? It's great that the adults are all vaccinated. We're also getting more woodpeckers. Fewer house finches, however, which is a bit unusual. Has the opportunistic feline attempted to return or did Elmer Fudd scare him within an inch of his nine lives? Dale has had a fever and has felt tired in reaction to his jab yesterday. No football games this afternoon, but 4 of them at the same time this evening. We don't have picture in a picture, so we'll be doing some major channel changing. Good idea to relocate the TVs from where you aren't using them to a place you will. I used my tablet for a while after the TV went out in the workout room and it wasn't the easiest thing to see but the worst problem was trying to hear it over the sound of the rowing machine or treadmill.
We took Arya to the vet this afternoon and it wasn't a great trip. She almost escaped the harness trying to fight going in the door then got scared enough to poop in the waiting room. We had a 1:30 appointment but didn't get into an exam room for about an hour. The vet biopsied the place on her leg that was the reason we went today, but she was more concerned with a bump below her right eye that one of the other vets looked at 3 years ago and wasn't concerned about. This one did a head xray and said it's either the result of an injury she suffered in puppyhood (with her history, that's entirely possible) or it's a bone tumor. She hopes to have the leg biopsy results by midweek and then we may be headed back to UT oncology with with Arya the way we did with Phoebe. But Arya isn't Phoebe and taking her by myself like I did with Phoebe just doesn't seem doable. I'm pretty bummed to say the least, given everything I have done to try to keep her healthy.

Wow..sure hope the biopsy is negative. My schnauzers have been productive of fatty tumors.
The bump from injury could be a nevus.(thunk that is the name) , I had one removed where I whacked a forearmā¦benighted tumor attached to an angry damaged nerve spot. Have her under if they do. Wish I had had more than a local by a nerve.
Got most of migraine to go away by afternoon. Made cranberry-apple French toast to put in oven tomorrow morning. But I cut the bread into pieces instead of slabs. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cranberry-apple-french-toast/print/
Much rest of day. Cleaned out old catalogs and magazines and Went through recipes I printed or cut out. Put the savers into the try-it binder. So grandma's old family brass apple butter cauldron in neatened up again.
ham steak, baked beans and a salad of precooked beets, orange chunks and pistachios with orange dressing for tonight.

Linda, I am glad the migraine faded. Boy, that tumor removal sounded painful. I have had a tooth filled without Novocain when I was a child and I can still feel the pain 50 years later. I need to go through the recipes I printed. I have binders but I need a 3 hole punch. Good idea on letting the bread machine knead and raise the bread. Kathy, my car clock changes automatically even though I donāt subscribe to any online car services. That is too funny about the parking lot mockingbird imitating cars starting. I would love to hear that and the whistling. Local press is calling OSUās win āmessy.ā A win is a win, isnāt it? Even though Cincinnati is undefeated they may not make the playoffs, because their wins are close calls. This is why I usually dināt follow college football. It makes me mad. š¤š I vote for the showy flamingo as state bird but also for funding to save the scrub jay. Wow, 60s is cold there. Did the neighborhood dogs have their sweaters on? Karen, well, that is disappointing news from the vet, but nothing is certain yet. Fingers crossed that neither bump is too serious. The wait for results is a b!+@h, though. I will be sending my best healing thoughts into the universe. Arya had a rough beginning. She doesnāt need this and neither do you and Dale. Virtual hugs for all. Karen, you were cold at 34Ā°. We have gotten below freezing a few times at night. We should be a little warmer next week with some rain on the way. How is Dale feeling today? How did your football teams do? We didnāt see any of the house finches until yesterday and not nearly as many as last year, but the word on free food is still spreading through the bird world. The naughty cat has been back. After Iggy sprayed it with water a few weeks ago, it left the birds alone, but I guess it has forgotten the hose treatment. He chased it away yesterday and I did it the day before. I love kitties but I donāt want them eating the birds who have enough problems. The kitties can have the rodents. I am going to make baguettes and Iggy is making shrimp cocktail for the Thanksgiving gathering. š Have a good Sunday, everyone. Waving to Liz, Becky and Denise moonriver.

Chele, we're in the 50s, brrrrrrr! A lot of FSU fans were wearing winter gear last night. I'll take a messy win over a loss any day. I'm sure FSU would agree. Cincinnati is in the same conference as UCF and they couldn't get into the playoffs with 2 undefeated seasons. It makes me mad too. They sound like figure skating judges when they start all the playoff talk on the quality of the wins. Hope that naughty cat stays away.
Karen, sorry to hear the disappointing news from the vet and hope it is nothing serious. FSU didn't look like the same team yesterday. I knew the QB was out due to illness, but found out later that 25 players had the flu. They were missing 4 starters on offense and I'm not sure how many on defense. That explains a lot about the way they were playing. They've had a rough year. I'm sure my DBIL is in mourning for Michigan State's first loss. All of my teams lost yesterday. Hope yours did better!

Linda, like Micki's breed, Arya's is very prone to "basset bumps", most of which are benign, as we are hoping these are. It doesn't make sense that she has had this bump under her eye for at least 3 years (maybe longer) and it has not gotten larger. I would think it should have caused a problem by now if it's malignant. It's hard like bone, and not in a place where there would likely be a nerve ending. How was the French toast? Recipe looks wonderful. Magazines and catalogs definitely tend to pile up. Especially catalogs this time of year. I took a stack to recycling about 3 weeks ago and have another stack just about the same height to take the next time. I hope you did go back to bed, even though you technically didn't have a time change. Arya wanted breakfast on yesterday's time, so we got no extra sleep here.
Congrats to UCF, Kathy. That had to be a nail biter like TN/KY was. We were too tired to make it much into the Q3 so we missed the excitement. All those players out with the flu would explain FSU's problems. I thought of your DBIL when I saw that Purdue had won. We watched part of the game and the Spartans were making too many mistakes. Purdue beat a then #2 Iowa, so they are a good football team. Michigan and Clemson both won, but Texas imploded in Q3. I was afraid that would happen when they switched QBs in Q2. Another one I'm glad we didn't stay up to watch.
Chele, you're right that we don't have a diagnosis on Arya yet. Like you said, with the rough start she had, it would be nice for her to have several years of good health. Hopefully she still will and this leg thing is just an inflammation of some kind and will go away. I have been researching other things we might do, and we're doing just about everything we can with her to prevent cancer. So if that's what it is, it either started before she got to us or it's something over which we had no control. Thanks for the hugs and healing thoughts. Phoebe was such a strong and positive dog, where Arya is not. I'm not sure she will have what it takes to survive a major medical issue. Maybe we'll get good news. We are seeing mostly tufted titmouses and chickadees at the feeder, with the occasional red-bellied woodpecker. And doves of course š . The hawks need to do their job. We haven't put up a suet block yet, which should draw in nuthatches and downy woodpeckers, plus making the other woodpeckers very happy. We got below freezing this morning, so we may do that soon. I'm with you on letting the cats have the rodents and leaving the birds alone. You might try sprinkling cayenne pepper on the ground near the feeder to deter the cat. But it would have to be reapplied after it rains. Dale seems to be just about recovered but hasn't rebuilt all his usual energy yet.
We're taking turns dog sitting today so she doesn't get too rambunctious with the wound on her leg. She also has some kind of dermatitis I showed the vet yesterday and if she starts scratching and licking again, she will be put in a soft cone of shame. I can't find the inflatable donut Phoebe used to wear post surgeries, so I ordered Arya one off Amazon this morning. When Dale takes the next supervision shift, I will go out to pull the remaining tomato plants and disconnect the watering system. I'm tempted to put the pineapple sage, peppermint, and rosemary on the screened porch to keep a better eye on them this winter. The oregano came from the other house and tends to survive even the coldest temps, so it's nothing to worry about. I think everything else I have is an annual, so they will die anyway.

Glad to hear from you, Deniceā¦hope they paid for that disappearing hour!
The apple and cranberry French toast made the house smell like pie while it baked and was wonderful with a maple/cinnamon/fruit base.

Karen, that was a good win for TN. I couldn't get Vidgo to work on my laptop, so I wound up watching the FSU game from my desktop. I missed the UCF game since they were on at the same time and somehow I thought they had lost too! I think I must've seen an earlier score and thought it was final. Good to hear that they won and it looks like that win makes them bowl eligible.

Good afternoon Chicks. Quick check in.
Hope everyone is doing well. I have had a bad flare up of my ITB. Of course it didn't help sitting 5 1/2 hours for a women's retreat at our current church and 1.5 hours today visiting a different church. . Karen I really thought the Horns would win a game yesterday. They aren't used to losing 4 in a row I'm sureooks like Jimbo finally decided to work for his salary. Surprising year for both teams.
The last 2 mornings it's been 38 in the morning but sunny and 71 right now.
