And I am babysitting for my youngest DGS, nor a dog. How absurd that I posted that by accident.

Ginny, yes a baby not a dog. And yes, some babies are very challenging. Hopefully he will get used to a routine at your home so that you will be able to get in some other things while he's napping or entertaining himself with however small babies entertain themselves I've spent much of my day crocheting then dh woke from his nap so I did a few things such as getting more "stuff" ready for trash pickup tomorrow. I also looked on Lion Brand as they have a big clearance sale going on. As if I need more yarn

Hello Ginny - Hope you survived the babysitting today Ruth - We always need more yarn, fabric, supplies, etc. I'm glad you gotten some crocheting in today. I've had a tough few days. A close family member passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, so I've just been dealing with that. I know you've all been through the loss of a loved one and it just takes time to accept it. This loved one lived far away from me, so I wouldn't be able to go to a funeral and it sounds like they may just have a memorial service. No details yet since I think they are waiting for the immediate family members to get to town. I'm pretty much cried out right now and have reached that numb phase, but I know I'll have more teary days. It's just so sad when we lose someone and know they aren't around to talk to, or be in our life anymore I didn't feel like doing any quilting yesterday, but I did get the few binding strips made this morning and figure out some fabrics for the new Pat Sloan block that came out today. Hopefully I can get to those this week. Take care everyone

CJ, I'm so sorry. Having loved ones pass away, especially unexpectedly like that,is very hard to cope with. It's not something you can really "get over".I hope you have many happy memories of this person. Would you consider doing a memory quilt of some kind in this person's honor?

CJ-I am so deeply sorry for you on the sudden loss of your dear family member. Many services are streamed online now, but that might be even more difficult for you to view as you would not be able to be with your loved ones to share and comfort each other. And a loss this time of year is even worse, as the holidays loom just around the corner, and time just keeps moving on, irregardless of your loss and your grief. take very good care of yourself- do not force yourself to do much, allow yourself to grieve.
Think Ruth had a wonderful idea to make a memory quilt for this person. And we are both here for you…..(Phyl and Sue too) but what I meant is that if you need to “chat” and want to do so more privately, I would be happy to listen through email. You are such a caring person. This loss must feel so awful for you and I share your grief. You and your family will be in my prayers. Ginny

Ruth and Ginny - Thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts, I appreciate them very much. I'm just trying not to think about things much today, that helps. And thanks Ginny for mentioning streaming services for funerals, I'll check to see if they might be offering that. I had to go out this morning to get my car serviced. I'd been putting it off and really needed the oil changed and the tires rotated, so I'm glad I was able to get that done. I made an early appointment since I figured there wouldn't be as many people in the waiting room. By the time my appointment was over there were about 7 people in the room, so I was glad to get out of there. Everyone was required to wear masks, so I felt pretty safe. I picked up some groceries while I was out so I won't need to get any of those again until just a few days before Thanksgiving. I probably won't get to any quilting or crafting today, but I did bring some quilting magazines with me to the appointment and enjoyed looking through those. Hope you all are doing well, have a good day, and get to do some crafting

CJ- I babysat today, and did not get to do any crafting- hope to do so after dinner is cleaned up. The past 3 funerals I have had anything do do with were streamed- and I have heard of a youtube channel being used or even a facebook messenger type broadcast. Check the funeral home first….Not sure if you remember my friend from HS (who I attended the widows retreat with) I “attended” her husbands funeral in Maryland remotely. While I really wanted to attend the service, driving 5 hours just to get there seemed out of the question and the church was using assigned seats (so you had to register to attend) as a means of controlling the crowd and assuring covid compliance. Its good to hear that you got out and did some “normal” things. It sure stinks that the waiting room at the dealership was so crowded….but a relief that you got out quickly. did you find anything that peaked your interest while perusing the quilting magazines? So many pretty things to look at in the quilting mags, and such an inspiration to get back to the machine.
The rest of this week should be a bit easier. Babysitting went ok, but DGS is a tough customer regarding his naps.
Ok- will check back in later to see if Ruth checked in Ginny

I thought I was here earlier but I guess not.
Ginny, I'm glad babysitting seemed a little easier and maybe baby will get used to more of a routine at your home for his naps
CJ, I'm glad you were able to get your car maintenance done and a few groceries picked up. I hope they will have the funeral streamed so that you can attend.
I did some cooking today and a lot of crocheting.Of course there was also the daily tasks we all do. I was thinking of having my recall taken care of on my car this week but then realized that although I don't remember what it was for that whatever it is it's a minor thing so I will wait until time for yearly maintenace check and oil change which will be in early March.

Good morning al- A more sane day (or at least I hope so!) for me. Got some errands to run (which should not take all that long) and I am working for a few hours with 2 new drivers. Nice weather here today- so it will be good to be outside.
Ruth, glad to hear that you are getting a lot of crocheting done! So peaceful and therapeutic. Do you think about/pray about the recipient of what you are making while you work on it? Cannot say that I do that all the time…and of course your mind has to wander to crochet directions too! But when I am making something specifically for someone, yes I do pray for them while working on it. With all the gifts you make and with your large family, I bet you do pray for them as you crochet!!
On the news right now they are interviewing a great 17 year old from Long Island who makes those nice wooden American flags- all by hand.
Got no crafting done yesterday, but I did add to my grocery list the items I will need to make thanksgiving turkeys with DGD next week when I see her. (Of course will do so with her siblings also, but she really loves it when I craft with her).
CJ- thinking of you and your family at this time of sorrow. Were you able to find a way to virtually attend the service?
Phyl- how are you feeling?
Sue, I thought of you as I listened to a coworker share about moving her mom into a memory care facility. I give you so much credit for keeping Dh at home with you and providing what he needs. Not everyone has the patience to do that…please make sure you are also taking good care of yourself.
BBL Ginny

And today was a day of listening- that same coworker had to chat about moving her mom into a memory care facility. Just a very sad story and I felt awful for her.

Hello Ginny, CJ, and also Phyl and Sue if you're looking in.
Today was a weird weather day. First overcast and rain then snow, then went up to over 40 and the sun came out and, of course, all the snow melted.
I haven't really don't much crocheting today. I finally started another row while dh was telling me about the youtube videos he was watching that were about the court trials of the teenager that shot rioters in Wisconsin and the men that killed the person who was said to be jogging in I think it was Georgia. Then I did a little more cooking and will now get to some serious crocheting.

Hello Thanks so much for your kind words/thoughts and support. Today I was feeling a bit depressed and also angry, I guess I'm going through all the emotions. Still no news on services, but I sure hope they can be streamed so I could see them. I was able to finish making the next block for Pat Sloan's Happy Everything quilt along today. It's called "Sparkler" and I think it's supposed to be for 4th of July. I had first planned to use a lot of different fabrics and colors in this block but ended up just making it in red, white and blue and I'm happy with how it came out. The hardest part of this quilt along for me is picking fabrics from this fat quarter bundle and spreading them out amongst the blocks so it looks good. In some ways I am enjoying the challenge of this quilt. The new block for the Fall Frolic came out today, but I'll have to work on that the rest of this week. I almost didn't want to do any quilting at all, but I don't want to get behind on these projects. I've tried really hard not to have unfinished projects anymore - especially this year when I've worked to finish a lot of quilts. Take care everyone.
