Hi all,
I just lost my whole post when something popped up that I didn’t want. To get rid of it I had to shut down and start over. I’m in the hotel and I’m not sure how secure the site is at times.
I had another long day yesterday at the Cape. I spent a great deal of time unpacking and then trying to connect to work via my laptop. After spending over two hours with technical reps at Comcast, we finally figured out that the latest and greatest Wi-Fi modem that they delivered won’t work with PCs. It’s funny because all of our Apple products and our televisions work fine. The solution is for them to send us the box one step down which is hardly any difference at all except the laptop will work. This is essential if I want to even try to work at home until the end of December. Then I had a great conversation with a designer from the window treatment place. It was all virtual and will save us a lot of money. We decided to go with solar panel Levelor shades across the downstairs double sliders. They are opaque but you can see through them; yet no one can see it at night. We haven’t yet figured out the blackout drapes for upstairs or some thing for other windows. He is going to help me with that as well. Obviously none of this will arrive until after Thanksgiving so we need to figure out a solution for night time for the bedrooms since the bright light will wake everyone up extremely early. He suggested some sort of cling vinyl film that is available at Home Depot as a quick fix while the family is here.
Pam, I sympathize with you about your DD number one. Our DDIL sounds very much the same with her anxieties about Covid and other illnesses. She is coming up for Thanksgiving, but only after the assurances that DD from California get COVID tested before her departure and have all her vaccinations done. DD is happy to comply. DDIL would never attend any events with large groups even if they were vaccinated. I do understand her worries with a newborn. At the college, we’ve had to institute some very strict rules for events like family weekend which was just held. Everyone was required to show a vaccination card and everyone was asked to be tested three days prior to arriving. The latter request was on the honor system. We did not require them to show testing results. It sure is a strange world that we live in and I also hate this damn virus!
I am off to a crown appointment today at the dentist. I figure I should get it done while I’m up here even though I’m not totally certain it’s essentially needed. I do have a little sensitivity near that tooth so I’m going to trust the dentist word especially since I have dental insurance and flexible spending money to use up before the end of the year.

I guess I better get hopping. I hope everybody is well. We have this hotel until Friday when we officially check out and I may as well go into the office even though my boss is in Florida. I’ll work today and tomorrow and then head back to the Cape Thursday morning. I have to stop calling it just the Cape and instead be calling it home! Take care all!
