This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ………………. In gratitude for those who sacrificed so much for us.

Wow. Everybody must be busy.
DUH moment. Killed myself to wrap, get last gift, package it and do a separate package of two joined padded bags for a really long thing. Ran to post office before they close for lunch. Never connected VDay with mail. Rats. It goes tomorrow before the Black Friday crazies. Another box done that I hope niece can pick up when she drops by.
Her life is not good right now. Her retired Marine works full time. Two teens to drive to school and pick up in next district over that is much better because the older still needs drivers test for AZ. Then second grader to get on the bus. Her step dad died yesterday after long illness, so they are helping her mom who lives nearby. Same day her husbands dad had a heart attack and lives on the other side of the valley. His wife was taking care of 101 year old father who lives halfway between South side. But now she has the heart attack victim to care for. So my niece has to drop off kids , drive to grandpa and cook, clean and see that he has a shower, then get back to pick up her kids after school and go home. We are about 4 miles north of the freeway she takes about halfway there. It will be first time to see her since they moved in July. Most of them had COVID in Sept.

Wow, Linda, your niece is in for a rough ride for awhile. I would have forgotten about the mail as well. At least, you’ll get out of the house tomorrow, if that’s a good thing.
Liz, life at St Crazy never lets up. You have a visit with DS and DMIL to look forward too, though. Poor Zoe. She has had a trying time. It doesn’t sound like she would be very comfortable without the surgery. I assume you will do the colonoscopy after Thanksgiving. Think of it as a post holiday cleanse. Iggy continues to have GI discomfort although not as bad as before. He will call doc for appointment as soon as we get our insurance straightened out. (Long, boring story.) Sorry to hear about the migraine. Next time don’t wait so long to take the migraine pill unless it makes you drowsy and you needed to avoid that. We are going to niece#2 for Thanksgiving and they have a traditional meal. I am making baguettes to bring and Iggy is making shrimp and cocktail sauce and probably baklava. Work wife’s birthday is Monday and he is making baklava for her. Glad it won’t be in the house.
Kathy, we only get leaf pickup in the fall. Any other time of the year you have to bring yard waste to the “green” dump yourself. Iggy and I never mind it when we spend the holidays just the two of us. His idea of a family gathering is a max of 2 hours, then he wants to leave. I have a higher tolerance.
Karen, the salmon bowl had brown rice, broccoli, baby corn, mushrooms, and water chestnuts. Well, neutral news on the biopsy then. Sorry Arya has to do it over unless it disappears. Did anyone get any fence painting done? Our rain held off until about 3 pm. How was Osteo? Did you get to the gym?
We ran a couple of errands and did some chores. Nothing exciting. Have a good evening all.

Chele, thanks for the start. It's another rainy day here, but a little warmer and muggier. I tried to see the SpaceX launch last night, but it was too cloudy. We got a really long and loud rumble from it though. There are always people on NextDoor the next day asking what the noise was. Iggy and I have about the same tolerance for family gatherings, lol. We have a small gathering for Christmas Eve that I enjoy. It's the larger gatherings that I don't have as much tolerance for.
Linda, I was looking for my Informed Delivery email for today and then realized why there wasn't any mail. Duh! Sorry things are so rough for your niece.
Karen, hope you have a good Osteo session and safe travels. Miami is playing FSU in Tallahassee this weekend, so it's FSU's last attempt to become bowl eligible. Miami is favored which is no surprise. At least it's a home game for FSU.
Liz, is this a holiday for you? I'm guessing not, but hope the commutes were a little lighter.

.Iggy and Bob would agree on family gatherings..especially my side
oh dear, sat on a patio footstool at base of almond tree getting removed tomorrow….bent over too long removing river Rick around it and digging down a bit to remove more so they can cut it off closer to ground. Had to pull lot of milkweed…not the northern stuff. This is a nasty vine thing with sap ants live and they are gathering along that side of houseeatu g that instead of bait. 🤔🤔🤔😦😦😦😬😬😬🙄
then went to walk dog and could not get quite straightened up for the short walk. Have retired to chair with Tylenol and Advil and DH is fetching Italian food.
Tomorrow is museum morning and tree guys come in afternoon to do that and thin out one and cut back one over driveway. Better get home by 11:30.
good grief I have a blister on my right palm right through gloves from the logging tool to loosen rocks and my arm and shoulder are informing me they have not been used this much in a long time.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Sounds like you had a rather uneventful day. The salmon bowl would definitely be replicable. Did it have some kind of dressing? Baklava in the house would be a temptation for me, too. I'm waiting to hear how much painting got done on the fence today. I believe they probably had about half a dozen people show up so hopefully they were able to finish the job. Osteo was ok. I'm kind of in a stable pattern there, and I did go to the gym, which was surprisingly unbusy. I'm not too excited about having to put Arya through that again. This time Dale will be helping me to get her in the door. I'm also looking at escape-proof harnesses and found one that a couple of the other basset parents recommended. Did you watch 9-1-1 this week? Weird episode. Did Chim take the baby into the bar? Our rain started after dinner and a cold front is blowing in.
Linda, your niece definitely has her hands full right now. I hope things will get easier for her. I forgot until you mentioned it that the PO took a holiday today. We actually got a package delivered but it wasn't our regular mail carrier. Amen on calories not counting for foods that didn't live up to expectations. Hope things go well at the museum tomorrow.
Sorry about the clouds obstructing SpaceX last night, Kathy. I hadn't heard there was a launch. Good luck to FSU this weekend. It would be disappointing for them not to make a bowl. Miami is beatable. Texas has 4 wins with 3 games to go. By rights, they should win all 3, but they have lost games this year that they should have won. So I'm not holding my breath. MI already has 8 wins and Clemson will have 7 after this weekend and should beat SC for the last game of the year. But SC beat FL, so I'm not counting on that one. Don't think they stand much of a chance against Wake Forest next weekend.
Liz, how is Zoe doing? Is Gary getting some things done around the house?
After Osteo, I went to an Ingles about 2 miles from there. One thing I found that I didn't expect was King Arthur's White Whole Wheat Flour. It was even on sale for $4.98. It was $13.98 on Amazon for the same size bag. I'm going to try to use half this flour and half regular bread flour to up the protein and fiber in bread machine recipes. Then I stopped at Kohl's where I found a Cuddl Duds tunic for around the house this winter. I got a similar hooded tunic 2 or 3 years ago and love it. So I can't wait to wear my new one, especially with cold weather setting in. The wind we've had today is stripping what's left of the leaves off the trees, so it will look like winter tomorrow. Kohl's also had the Lindt chocolates on sale and it was difficult, but I resisted buying any. I convinced myself that I didn't need all that sugar.

Spouse bought champagne for Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Years plus MORE German cookies. He is excited to eat stuff for the holidays. I am trying not to gain back what I am still trying to lose.
