This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ******************** 7 days to Gobble Day. Still don’t know what time we are supposed to be at DN. Apparently, family consensus has not been reached. As we are not part of the immediate we are not included in the deliberations. And also because we like to eat early and they don’t 😁. If it is too late for Iggy’s digestive system, we eat at normal time and pretend to eat there. We are there more to see family than to eat anyway.
What’s in your menu? We will have the usual turkey and trimmings. Iggy has been requested to make his smashed potato and egg salad and I am making baguettes; I guess we are the carb suppliers. Fortunately, no one thought to ask for baklava. It is a pain to make.
Have a good Thursday, All.

Chele, DBIL actually does most of the cooking for Thanksgiving, but it's still a lot of work for DS too. He even bakes pies! I'm the same way on having crowds in the house. We're doing the traditional turkey and trimmings with pumpkin pie. That's great on the good checkups.
Linda, congrats on the good report from the GP. That's a great reward for your weight loss. Key West residents voted for a law to restrict larger cruise ships from coming to the island since they were damaging the coral reefs. DeSantis overturned it. I'm not sure if it was the reef issue or vaccine issues that has the them so riled up now (or maybe both). The bill is just a draft now and I'm wondering if someone is really going to sponsor it or if it's just a publicity stunt. One of the state reps said something about needing to rein in these rogue municipalities.
DeSantis is signing his bill banning vaccine mandates today and the city he chose to do this in is Brandon, FL. I imagine this will wind up in the courts too.
Waving to Liz and Karen.

What is there left to say about DeSantis and his ilk? aughhh.
If we eat out, we have to go early to be home around five for the 12 hour timed dog insulin or go after it.
for over 20 years , I hosted 16 people for sit down roast dinner with onion soup and a big table of appetizers first. It was hard. By age 70 I decided with arthritis it was too much. Last year because of one Anti-vaccine family, we stayed away but dropped off the usual pie and cranberries before hand, then pie and brother's favorite rum punch before Christmas and had a short visit with them.
It will be same again since the new arrivals of niece and spouse and three kids are not vaccinated. I could see them masked for a short visit, but 10 out of 16 unvaccinated inside? No. 22,000 people in my state died so far. 71% of them were over 65. 238 of them in my county were vaccinated. we are the only state whose leading cause of death is COVID.
today is pick up dog fish oil, a couple groceries, hopefully finish outside lights. Hope feet hold out.
My other problem with shoes is narrow feet, so without laces or straps I walk out of what my toes like! I ordered some larger laced Clarks last night. We shall see.

Biden won the county that Brandon is in, so the joke's on them!
We were supposed to get a cold front with rain later tonight and it just started pouring. I guess it got here a little early. They're saying we'll have lows in the 40s once it comes through. 🌂

Thanks for the start, Chele. Great news on both of your stellar reports. Good plan to just go to see family if the meal is scheduled too late. Yay on no baklava requests. I guess they have desserts covered. What's in the potato and egg salad besides potatoes and eggs? How many baguettes will you make? We'll probably do sushi again. Not Thanksgiving-ish, but tasty and easy. Are your temps cooling back down today? We had a cold front come through this afternoon, so we had our high for the day before Noon. And we've had some rain. How are things with the cat? I put out the suet block yesterday and I think one of the red bellied woodpeckers has decided it belongs to him.
Linda, are the net lights the new ones and some already aren't working? Did you get the job finished today? How does the Chandler City museum compare to yours? That's a shame on your favorite shoes no longer fitting. I got to that point and it drove me to Fleet Feet for a professional fitting, where I find out my feet had gone up 1/2 size and gotten wider. So, other than sandals, I have 2 pair of shoes that fit right now. Hope the new Clarks work out well. How are your knees today? How were your Reubens last night? Is the election BS there ever going to end? I heard that your AG is now involved in trying to support the big lie. I remember those huge family gatherings. They were a lot of work. I'm surprised you were able to do it for as long as you did. Over half the group not vaccinated is definitely not worth the risk.
Has Zoe's GI system settled down, Liz? Is she eating again? I know your focus is on her right now, but please get your test and shots scheduled soon to take care of you. Nice to have a bakery that makes good pies so you don't have to.
Kathy, is this the first major holiday in a while your family has been able to get together? What kind of pies will DBIL be making? BRANDON? Seriously?? That can't be a coincidence. And, Biden won there? How ironic. Our governor will probably follow suit but there is no Brandon, TN. I would hate for the reefs near Key West to be damaged, if that is truly the reason for the law about larger cruise ships. If it's a for-real thing, I hope their delegation will sponsor it and if will be DeSantis proof. Sounds like we have about the same weather, but ours got here about when they predicted. I guess you have the heat ready to come on when needed.
Osteo was ok. I've been in about the same range for the last month, but I'm above the "growth trigger zone" on everything, so it's ok. Gym was pretty quiet, so I didn't have to wait for anything. Then I dropped off my boxes for Operation Christmas Child and got to talk to my friend who coordinates the program. She's also a MG, so we had lots to talk about. We probably haven't seen each other except through Zoom since April. Our covid numbers are heading back up, so it could be really bad here after the holidays. And our governor just signed the bill to ban all the covid mitigation measures a couple of days ago. But at least the far right is happy🙄.

Dashed off to a little pet place by SAfeway for Micki's fish oil. Was greeted enthusiastically by a yellow lab who heard me when owner in the back did not. I like to give business to local places. Then a lot of stop with some good coupons and sales so I have everything for Thanksgiving. They were already low on Pillsbury pie crusts. We pick up the Turkey Tuesday from Hansen’s …branch here, the main is in MN. Then I gritted teeth, replaced the dead light net and put up the rest on the big hibiscus and the three smaller shrubs between the garage and walk to front door. Phew. A pair of Clarks to try was delivered then and the driver was excited about lights.
