People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself âEnough is enough and Iâm getting in shape!â On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for the day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C: Sunday: Gail

Good morning Sandy Just saw that you have something in common with Dolly Parton. She wakes up at 3 am, too!
I wake up at this hour, check my phone and go back to sleep until 7:30, 8:30 or 9 am.
Have a great day!

Hi all!
Once again my days seem to fly by. I did the Wal-Mart pickup a few times at the start of all this and it worked well except I prefer picking out my own produce and meat.
Prices have really jumped all over and I fear it's going to get a lot worse never before it gets better. The grandkids like those frozen individual Torinos pizza which Jerry doctors up with fresh mushrooms, tri-color sweet peppers, onions and cheese. Anyway I used to get them for $1.25 each. The other day they were $1.48 at Publix and $1.67 at Winn Dixie.
Don't have much of a choice where to shop here. It's either Publix, Winn-Dixie or Wal-Mart. I will not buy fresh produce anywhere but Publix the other places it goes bad to fast. While Publix may be higher than the other two their quality is better. I'll do without something else to shop where I can get quality.
I have another full agenda today beginning with Mass and ending with Janet's game tonight. Is a zoom meeting scheduled for today? I'll try to attend.
Vicki did they finish your bathrooms yesterday?
Shragae, good luck with your surgery!
Sharon, Happy Belated Birthday to Don!
Gail, you are the Energizer Bunny. Where do you get the energy and stamina to do all you do? energy
Time to get Duke and Jerry up. Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning!
The last two mornings I woke up with small weight losses and am happy to say that I am back to 139. I am feeling so much better since I increased my protein and fiber and cut out the sugar. I really didn't think I ate that much sugar but now I don't have any.
This morning I am off to get a much needed manicure and pedicure. I am glad it has warmed up I bit. I don't like getting pedis when it is cold outside.
Thinking of Shragae's surgery this morning and sending prayers.
Just a reminder of today's Zoom meeting at 2 pm EST. Come if you can.

Just dropped Kelcy off to be groomed. Traffic absolutely awful. And just a little rain to add to making it a bad time to drive.
Read the first few pages of The Noise by James Patterson and too much horror so that is not a good book for me. I will not read books like that
Planning to go to clubhouse for line dance class today.
I see my craft project from yesterday is coming apart. I used some self stick decorations on it and they decided to unstick . I can pitch it with no regrets or try Elmerâs glue which probably wonât work

Good morning ladies.
We got lots of rain last night and a cool front so today won't be nearly as warm as yesterday but at least the sun is shining.
The bathroom guys got here around 8:30 this morning and have been hard at work in the master bathroom. Jerry noticed this morning that the new toilet in the hall bathroom is leaking slightly so he told them about it and they'll get that fixed today too. Sometime today we need to clear everything out of the closet in the guest room so they can cut a hole in the back wall and put in an access panel for the tub/shower in the hall bathroom.
Normally I'd ride with Jerry to pick up the Kroger order today but he's going to go by himself and I'll stay here since the workers will be in and out. I doubt that I'll make the Zoom chat this afternoon.
Shragae, you probably won't see this but I'm praying for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for you.

Oh gosh yes, today is Shragaeâs surgery. Praying for a good surgery and good recovery.
KC I still marvel at how well you are doing.
Donâs birthday dinner was a hit. I followed Pioneer Womanâs pot roast recipe and it was good. Even the little cake I baked was good. It was so nice having family here for a birthday.
Jane enjoy line dance.
Laundry this morning then who knows what.

Just a quick check-in. I have my film class at 2:30 and want to do a little more prep. If I have the time I'll check in for 15 minutes at the beginning of the zoom meeting.
I found MY yoga class this morning. The woman who teaches the class I had been attending (Gentle Yoga) is very good but too fast for me. By the time I got up or down from the mat she was into the next pose and I felt rushed. I went to chair yoga today and it is just right. It is at a more reasonable pace but it has everything in it that I need. A full class and everyone is crazy about the upbeat instructor. She also gives us more time to wind down. I felt different as I walked away...a good different.
Pat, being active gives me more energy. I live alone so I do not have many other responsibilities and give up doing other things so I can get these activities in.
Ruth, I have rarely used sugar and always eat tons of veggies. I am also cautious with salt and starchy carbs. I think that is why I have been able to maintain. Good for you for getting back to your ideal weight. I admire the way you adapt to your food plan tweaks.
Enjoy your line dance, Jane.
Yay, Vicki, that the bathroom guys are being more responsible!
Sharon, glad that the birthday dinner went well.
I have to change and get some stuff done for film class.
Ciao for now.

I started a post last evening and lost it so will try again. Tuesday was a busy day, two weigh in meetings. Good weigh with 1.2# loss. New plan is ok still feeling my way through it. I will not be gaining any free points by drinking water as I havenât gotten to 60 ounces yet. Clear H2-0 with no additives is hard for me and I have other things to stress about. Yah, Steven did mow leaves Tuesday, while I was at grocery he called wanting me to come home and help him put leaf bagger on mower. Yes, I wanted to do that 2 weeks ago. Told him to just mow the lawn as we would just have to take anger off next week and put snow blade on. He did a good job.
Yesterday I started cleaning the closet by the garage entry to house as I had washed the throw rugs and was cleaning the floors before putting rugs back down. Things in there that should have been pitched some time ago. A box of cook books. What do you do with them. We donât eat that way anymore. Washed two pair coveralls Steven wears in winter blading snow. Need to get all liquid sprays, weed killers, power washer, etc in the house to keep from freezing. And I do agree Food prices as well as gas and most everything has gone up, up in price. In fact getting kind of worrisome for those of us living basically on SS. Rob has been asking Cuties to work and stopped at Fareway earlier this week and a 5# bag is over $9.00 per bag. At Walmart they were $6.33.
Shragae thinking of you today. Hoping everything goes as planned. Speedy recovery.
Did pick up Sister in Lawâs Crazy patches from Embroidery shop. This morning spent some time choosing threads to use for decorative stitching. It is a cold 33* high west wind day. Not comfortable outside but was out there this morning getting chores done. Jayley wanted grandpaâs pickup to take things to landfill. I suggested she wait till tomorrow we donât need thing blowing all along the highway.
Those close enough to travel will be here for Thanksgiving so smaller group but we will be together. I went to eye Dr yesterday, they know I am not happy, so an appointment in December with Dr in Ottumwa to have film lasered from both eyes. Will require a driver so one of the kids will have to take a day off to get me there.

Today I stopped at Marshall's just to browse. OMG...run...don't walk (if you like clearance!!!) I bought 3 super cute tops and 2 pair of leggings all on clearance. The cashier said that so much Christmas is coming in daily that they have to mark items down to make room for the new stock. Yay! A win-win. Needless to say, I bought more than the clearance items. I picked up some cute Christmas toys for my granddogs and a few other gifts.
QOTD: Do you plan to do some window shopping before the holidays? AOTD: Yes, I plan to do more browsing. It is fun and it has been two years since I have been shopping with no plan to buy. Just to look and if I find something I love I will buy it.

Ruth you really enjoy shopping. Every year in the past I have bought or made gifts for everyone even grandchildren that arenât mine. This year I have informed them they will not be getting gifts. We will still have our Christmas gathering and enjoy food and laughter but basically no gifts. I will make their calendar and maybe get a small item for Amelia, Kaesen and Draven but not the others. The older ones understand and they have said they might brings for the littler ones. Twenty is just to many to try to please. Thanks for the Zoom today.

AOTD: donât be aghast but no Christmas shopping anymore. Everyone has been told. DGK have parents and other grands and anyway they take forever to cash their birthday checks. And we rarely get a thank you. I am making DGGD a doll quilt and thatâs it. Most of my shopping now is for the houseâŠ..gutters, a/c, furniture, paint. We do plan to go to DDs for Christmas and see gifts opened, weâd enjoy that.

I donât do any Christmas shopping . Today I gave the groomer money and told her merry Christmas because I wonât see her before then and I will give the cleaning woman extra. I send a check to my son for the two of them. I give money to church for the gifts they buy. I donât do any shopping for anyone.
Line dance today is ok. Very easy and I get very tired. I wish she would do a waltz or cha cha . Some of them go to the elks and evidently these dances are done there. A bit boring but I donât want to make any suggestions to her because it is her class. A woman did ask me for help and I gave it . Most of them do ok with these easy dances
I fixed my tv tonight when it wouldnât do most of the channels. This is the second time I have said into the remote reboot the tv. 20 minutes later it is fine.
