Sharon I never got back to the thread yesterday to answer your question. Since my cataract surgery years ago I only need reading glasses which I get at Walmart but Fred does get his glasses at the Illinois Eye Center as he prefers glass lenses even though they are heavy. Did you get results from the exam while there?
Marlo I usually go to bed by 9 but if something on tv looks interesting Iâll stay up later and if I start feeling tired will tape it. When younger I was definitely more a night person and would sleep until 8 or 9 on the weekends but during the week was up by 6 to catch the bus for work.
I was surprised that even though I was up at 2:30 I wasnât even tired until about 10 last night which is very late for me. Part of it was that Maija has a family tree project due in one of her classes today and she needed dates of birth for both sets of my grandparents and I just didnât have that info so I messaged my younger sister as I know she has one built up on ancestry so hoped she could help. She got me everything needed except for the actual day our grandmother who died very young from the pandemic in 1918 but did have the month. So I sent Debbie all that and I think that will work as the actual day we just donât have.
We went shopping for mousetraps yesterday after having indications we have a mouse and online saw the one that would work for me was D-Con no touch or see trap. We checked everywhere and everyone was out so I suggested we go to our Ace Hardware (well actually I had suggested going there first đ) and gee lo and behold they had it! You get two traps and very easy use. They show you where to put the bait and how to set it and the trap is marked as set, not set and mouse caught. Itâs very sensitive so you have to be very gentle when setting it down. If you set it off it will have a red dot under not set so you just reset it and a red dot appears under trap set. Then thereâs like five red dots over the mouse caught indicator. Just before I went to bed I checked and all five dots were bright red! I was pretty excited and woke Fred up to tell him I had caught it! I put it in the trash like the directions said and immediately took the trash out to the bin. I hope that was the only one and did not see new pellets this morning but if I do see more I still have a trap left to use and know where to buy more if needed. The bait I used was peanut butter. Fred knows the lady at Ace and said bet with your cat you donât have a mouse problem. She laughed and said I wish but sheâs so lazy they could run right over her and she would try to play with them! She did say lots of people are buying the traps so guess mice are already a problem this year. This was the first mouse for us in 40 years!

Oh Sandy I hate mice. In all the years I lived in Florida mice and flies were not a problem. Geckos maybe but not mice. I will know if thereâs a mouse in the house as I can smell them. Two things on our shopping list are snow shovel and mouse traps.
Donâs appointment was mostly new patient tests and checking his pressure. Eye exam will be in May next year. We can go to the Washington office then. Yay!
I have no idea why I was bloated last night but this morning itâs gone. Eating clean today so that doesnât happen again.
Geri you feeling better? Hugs to you.
Shragae I hope you can check in and let us know how you are doing.
Vicki hang in there, the baths will be done soon. Will you do any decorating there?

Good morning Florida does have palm rats which are big. Only saw one in all these years. Saw it running up my palm tree. Been a couple of years ago. The geckos are all over and often on my lanai and the door is standing open much of the time when the weather allows. The snakes and cane toads are scary.
Thinking about Shragae and hoping she is doing well.
Vickie I do hope your bathrooms are soon finished.
I need to get my medicines ready . I do a month at a time so today is the day.

Greetings:
This has been the week from bad planning. Sort of on my part, but not totally!
I want to get the QOTD out there before I leave for my next thing. we've had two things every day and it's not been just attending. I've been very busy.
Back to the Blue Zones ladies. And maybe I'll remember I have a comment about the new WW plan.
Today I looked at the list of foods from Loma Linda. My first thought was to find some common foods among all of these places, but I realized I didn't have the time to do that! I need a shower before I take off or I'll be sitting all alone. Although, that's not such a bad thing as I think about it!
QOTD: These are the foods most associated with the Loma Linda group of Seventh Day Adventists who have exceptional longevity. i won't put the description of things that are pretty obvious, but a couple were new to me.
Could you add these to your diet? The diet is more than 50% fruits and vegetables. The remainder of their diet comes from legumes, soy and grains. Adventists were decades ahead of the rest of the US in exerimenting with and using ethnic and international ingredients and flavors.
Soy Milk. Not the sweetened, flavored kind. Corn Flakes! Weetabix, whole grain cereal mostly sold in England. Adding whole grains promotes skin and bone health and keeps you regular. Brewer's Yeast contains chromium, which may help control blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance. Has immune-boosting properties. Nuts and nut butters - A study showed that people who ate a handful 5 days a week lived 2 to 3 years longer than others who didn't eat nuts Avocados - among other things reduce blood pressure and stroke risk beans - this seems to be the one food across all the blue zones Eat beans! Oatmeal Vegemite an Australian spread made from brewer's yeast, salt and vegetable extract. Perfect for topping whole wheat toast and an excellent source for vitamins that support brain health. (I wonder what it tastes like. It looks like mud.) Spinach and other green veggies.
Okay. I hope to get back today. I'll need to read about what's going on with everyone. Vicki, I hope you have new bathrooms! Jane, I hope you are okay. you've been on my mind. Later.

Good morning ladies. It's very gloomy out there this morning. I hope we get some sunshine today. They're making really good progress on the master bathroom but the plumber who was supposed to come yesterday had to reschedule for Monday. I'm sure this will put them behind schedule since the owner told me they were going to really try to get everything finished by this coming Wednesday. We had expected delays like this to happen so it's really not upsetting. What was upsetting was for them to go a whole week without working on our bathrooms at all! I think they'll probably finish everything up either the Monday or Tuesday after Thanksgiving. At least that's what I'm hoping. Denise is coming by herself for lunch today. She's dropping Maya off at her mother in law's house for a fun day of birthday shopping and lunch out. I already have Maya's birthday gift bought but I'll wait until closer to her birthday next month to give it to her. I'll miss that kid but I'm glad she can spend time with her other grandma. Sandy, sometimes we get mice in the Fall so Jerry always makes sure there's a trap set in the garage. We usually can catch them before they get in the house. I'll have to tell him about the D-Con no touch or see traps. Sharon, both bathrooms are being done in a neutral gray/white. I put the shower curtain from the master bath in the hall bathroom temporarily to give me time to decide what accent color to use in there. It's a soft lilac color and actually doesn't look too bad so I have plenty of time to decide on a different accent color. I think I'll keep the master bathroom in gray tones. Karen, that's a great QOTD. We already eat corn flakes, oatmeal, beans, nuts, and spinach/dark green veggies. I'm not a big fan of avocados and Jerry probably wouldn't touch half the items on the list. Jane, palm rats? ??!!!!! Oh my I think I'd have to move if I saw one in my house!

Good Morning!
Tonight we are going out to dinner and to the Manheim Steamroller Concert in Sarasota. I am so excited to hear Manheim Steamroller in concert. I went to high school with Chip Davis, though did not know him personally. Mannheim Steamroller is the #1 Christmas music artist of all times, selling over 31+ million albums. The most popular that is heard everywhere, even on commercials is Deck the Halls.
Sandy, I used to buy glass eye glasses all of the time. I am so tired of scratching the plastic lenses that I may have to go back to them. I am always taking off my eye glasses to put my sunglasses on, which is how I think they get scratched. You are right...peanut butter is the best bait for mousetraps. We don't see mice in Florida. Armadillos seem to be more of a problem. Geckos don't bother me at all.
AOTD: Yes to (and I eat all of these already): Nuts and nut butters - A study showed that people who ate a handful 5 days a week lived 2 to 3 years longer than others who didn't eat nuts Avocados - among other things reduce blood pressure and stroke risk beans - this seems to be the one food across all the blue zones Eat beans! Oatmeal Spinach and other green veggies.
No to: Soy Milk. Not the sweetened, flavored kind. Corn Flakes! Weetabix, whole grain cereal mostly sold in England. Adding whole grains promotes skin and bone health and keeps you regular. Brewer's Yeast contains chromium, which may help control blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance. Has immune-boosting properties. Vegemite an Australian spread made from brewer's yeast, salt and vegetable extract. Perfect for topping whole wheat toast and an excellent source for vitamins that support brain health. Vicki your colors will look beautiful.
Yes, I didnât mind geckos but they freaked out our visitors from up north.
I had fun this morning. Don was mulch mowing and I went out to help. I used the new electric mower and pushed it while he raked. Wow I not only got a walk but an arm workout. I love being outdoors.
AOTD: I eat most of those. I havenât tried vegamite or wetabix. I mean to get some plain shredded wheat as we like that. Thanks Karen C. I think I need to buy his book on blue zones. I think itâs interesting and just what my body needs.

Yesterday was another cold windy crappy day only in 30âs. Today is the reverse, beautiful sunshine, no wind and in 50âs. Not sure what I did with the day yesterday except try to figure out what our 2022 monthly health insurance payment will be. Not to my liking but to this point it has paid everything. Our drug plan is included in health insurance so donât have additional plan for medications.
Steven mentioned this morning that he is going to take mower deck off today, donât think that is going to happen. Rob was to help us do that this next week as he has the full week off work. At moment he is watching bull riding at a rodeo, apparently it is about time for Walker Texas Ranger. When he went to town for pie and coffee I went out and used the power air hose and blowed all the leaves, dirt and grass off mower as I donât need that on the floor in upper building when they change deck to snow blade.
Could you add these to your diet? The diet is more than 50% fruits and vegetables. The remainder of their diet comes from legumes, soy and grains.
Soy milk, not the sweetened flavored kind, Not Corn Flakes! Could eat but not often Weetabix, whole grain cereal mostly sold in England. Adding whole grains promotes skin and bone health and keeps you regular. Doubtful Brewer's Yeast contains chromium, which may help control blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance. Has immune-boosting properties. Havenât Nuts and nut butters - A study showed that people who ate a handful 5 days a week lived 2 to 3 years longer than others who didn't eat nuts. Nut butters no, nuts sometimes Avocados - among other things reduce blood pressure and stroke risk. Likely not donât care for them beans - this seems to be the one food across all the blue zones Eat beans! Another thing I am not fond of but can ear them. Oatmeal Often Vegemite an Australian spread made from brewer's yeast, salt and vegetable extract. Perfect for topping whole wheat toast and an excellent source for vitamins that support brain health. (I wonder what it tastes like. It looks like mud.) Doubtful Spinach and other green veggies. Yip
Shragae hope you are up moving about slowly, speedy recovery. Gray seems to be the going paint color for a lot of people, our daughter being one. No gray in my house but is a shoothing color. Enjoy your remodel Vicki when everything in complete. Happy for you. Jane, keep dancing. Geri healing thought coming your way. Hoping you are well to enjoy your Thanksgiving. Yip Sharon one does get free activity while working in yard. I also need a new snow shovel, itâs on my list.
I did not see the Eclipse, should have gotten up as we had a clear blue sky. Getting old I guess.
Mice we do get them from time to time one reason I like the cats in garage. Mice have even gotten in car and that is not a nice smell when using the heater. If a mouse wants in they can likely find a way in if they have to gnaw their way in. We have the old fashioned mouse trap and cheese works better for me than peanut butter. We do not use and mouse bait or poison because of the cats even in outside buildings. We did when we had the feed storage but we didnât have pets then.
Hope everyoneâs weather is as nice as ours today. May be colder but saying no snow before Thanksgiving.

Yikes! Thinking back, when I first moved to Florida, one morning while sitting at the pool I spotted a rat running up the palm tree. I was convinced that we had rats throughout. There were black boxes at the foot of the trees I believe to catch them maybe. Never saw another, thank goodness. Iâm petrified of mice and rats.
In CA I lived near Lima Linda and the fabulous supermarket with all of the natural products. The little British girls ate Wheatabix and that other spread for toast that was mentioned. My diet consists of mainly fruits, veggies and beans. Even the pasta is plant based. B Celery Juice, Blueberries L Broccoli/Potato D Baked eggplant, Quinoa pasta
When I received my Macyâs order a womanâs sweater, that I didnât order, was included. I just stopped in to pick up some additional orders and brought the sweater. The clerk saw that I wasnât charged and that the $59.50 sweater was on sale for $29.99. She went to a supervisor and no one could explain the mistake. She handed it back to me and said âI canât return it since you werenât chargedâ. So I said âFine Iâll donate itâ! Itâs not even pretty and is the wrong size, wouldnât you know. Strange customer service experience!
No gym today but I did vacuum, mop floors, run errands and visited with the babies. They stopped in and I asked if they were hungry. Both shook heads âyesâ. âWould you like broccoliâ? âYesâ I keep extra cooked, ready to nuke for 10 secs. They eat it like itâs the best snack! Of course, when I feed them spoonfuls theyâd eat anything. Not sure if theyâd be so anxious if I set the bowl in front of them.
Sure hope Shragae is doing well and that Geri is getting stronger. We have to try to stay rested and not run down to fight off anything heading our way.
Ruth enjoy dinner and the entertainment. Sounds great!
Hope everyone has a peaceful Saturday night!
Marlođ

Good evening! I'll start with today's question. Interesting, Karen. I'll put a "Y" in front of those I do eat regularly and an "S" in those I eat sometimes:
Soy Milk. Not the sweetened, flavored kind. Corn Flakes! Weetabix, whole grain cereal mostly sold in England. Adding whole grains promotes skin and bone health and keeps you regular. Brewer's Yeast contains chromium, which may help control blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance. Has immune-boosting properties. SNuts and nut butters - A study showed that people who ate a handful 5 days a week lived 2 to 3 years longer than others who didn't eat nuts YAvocados - among other things reduce blood pressure and stroke risk Ybeans - this seems to be the one food across all the blue zones Eat beans! SOatmeal Vegemite an Australian spread made from brewer's yeast, salt and vegetable extract. Perfect for topping whole wheat toast and an excellent source for vitamins that support brain health. (I wonder what it tastes like. It looks like mud.) YYYSpinach and other green veggies.
I am not interested in soy milk, corn flakes, weetabix, or Vegemite. I do eat a slice of whole grain or 100% whole wheat daily. 3 Y's for spinach and other green veggies. I eat more fruits and veggies than any other food.
I went out for breakfast with one of my groups. Met someone new we invited to go to Trivia Night with us.
Then spent a fun afternoon with DD in a nearby town as DSIL is in AL picking up DGS from college and DGD is staying overnight with some friends (parents will be there too) to watch their HS football team play. Beaufort SC is a cute place with lots of shops. That's the 2 of us in the new avatar. Made it home just before the sun set. DD is going to a neighbor's party tonight. I saw DGD briefly and think she is doing great down here. She has made a ton of new friends.
I LOVE my DGKs but it was lovely to spend time alone with DD. You'll have a good time too, Vicki. Yay for bathroom progress.
Sounds like a great mouse trap, Sandy. Congrats on your first catch.
Palm rats sound awful, Jane. But it's all what you are used to. I remember not being able to sleep when I first spent a weekend at my in-laws before my 1st husband and I were married. It was the birds and little critters outside that kept me up. Yet I grew up in a house under which the subway ran. Go figure!
Sharon, I smell the presence of mice too. My mother in law got them all the time as they lived in a very rural spot, especially when the weather turned colder and they sought houses for the warmth. We got a few when we moved to that area as well. The nose knows. I'm glad you're feeling better today.
Ruth, have fun at dinner and the concert.
Glad you had lovely weather today, Karen. Like you and Sharon, I really enjoy being outside. Today was a good day for DD and me to be outside. It was in the high 40s when I went to breakfast, but was in the 60s and sunny when we were in Beaufort.
How fortunate those DGDs are to be exposed to the healthy foods you make, Marlo. I had a similar experience with a return.
I want to veg by the TV. Haven't done that in a while.
Have a great evening, all.
