WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C112D8, 1333 calories, 21 points.
Jan - the foot problem is in the back of the heel. He's still calling it achilles tendonitis but this is different from before when it was so sore to the touch. This is more like an ache when I left the heel. Do you think it's possible that the stretches that I do morning and night with the towel could be causing this? Would it be sensible to stop them for a week or so to determine that possibility?

1942 calamities 767 exercise calories 67g protein 30g fiber 20/21 November
I’ll be interested to see how hungry I am today. My protein was very low yesterday and I’m wondering if that will affect me today.
Nancy, backing off of your stretches for a week is worth a try. You could even try cutting way back to half the time only one time per day. Does your doctor know you’re doing the stretching? (Is he the one that prescribed it?)
Meg, yay for day 2!

Jan - I saw the chiropractor today and really like his approach. He noticed a big improvement from last time. He said, like you, to continue the stretching but much shorter duration (3-5 seconds instead of 20) and a much milder stretch. He said to start walking but much shorter duration and feel my way. Don't let it get too painful. Next appt 2 weeks (any chiro I'd ever been to wanted 3 x a week).
Meg - sounding strong. warms my heart.

Meg, day 2, it’s a good thing.
Nancy, is your chiropractor fairly young? I’ve had the same experience as you, he wanted me to come multiple times a week. The guy I’ve been with since October 2019 takes a much different approach. I’ve seldom gone more than once a week, and the few times I went twice a week were in the very beginning when my feet were at their worst.

Yesterday went well at the shower, they actually served the food family style. I took a little of everything (salad, flatbread, chicken francaise, roast beef, rice, potatoes, veggies). I left the rice and potatoes on the plate, not worth it. When they served a slice of cake, I asked for a to go container. Enjoyed it as my last snack. The rest of the day was healthy eating. I’m really enjoying eating like a normal person, nothing off limit but all in control!
Nancy, hope your heel feels better. Glad you’ll be able to do short walks. Jan, curious - how was your hungry today? Meg, glad to hear you had a good day! It helps so much when you have yummy food to look forward to.

Jan - The chiro isn't that young but not very old either. Maybe 50's or 60's? I'm not good at telling ages. The original podiatrist suggested the exercises, the newer one agreed as did the chiro but within reason.
Lori - You really have this system down pat. Not only would I have the rice and potatoes but I don't have the ability to put off the dessert. When it's in front of me I want it NOW. I've got a couple of challenges coming up. Thanksgiving - I'll have turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and marshmallows, a buttered roll and apple pie (probably warm and a la mode). I'll isolate it and track the rest of the day. Then my Canasta group is going out for lunch on Dec 10th. It's a lovely restaurant that I've been to years ago. I haven't worked on the menu yet but I will undoubtedly be indulging. I got in a couple of artichokes and the ingredients for the cabbage soup, so that should help in the calorie department although I always have a tablespoon of melted Land o Lakes with the artichoke and a buttered toasted roll with the cabbage soup. Oh well.

Lori or Jan - I just got my new cuisinart toaster oven. Since this is the fourth I've gotten, I have a stack of unused air fryer baskets and it occurred to me I might as well be using them but have no idea what to do with them other than maybe french fries. Can you please tell me the sort of foods you cook in the basket? Thanks.
