Good morning all- Got a rainy morning here, but I think its supposed to end shortly. Got absolutely no crafting done yesterday, but have a chance to maybe get some time in today.
Ruth, Phyl posted after you late last night and said that Doris is not doing well… probably best if you go back to read the post, but I thought I would mention it if you do not go back to last nights post.
See ya later.!! G

Thank you, Ginny. I did see it last night but I sure appreciate you mentioning it is case I had missed it. And thank you Phyl for posting it.
It's a relatively nice day here. It's a little windy for my taste but that's how it is here.
Last night I did get a little done on the bear head I plan to put on the lovey but most of my time was spent chatting on the help line for Walmart. They overcharged my dh on an order he put in and charged me for an order I didn't even make. For my order I went to the Credit card site to dispute but it said contact the merchant so I contacted walmart who, after I spend about a half hour on the chat help, told me I need to go to my credit card and dispute the charge there. He did say that he saw no order from me in his info. I told him that yes I didn't make that order. you wouold think, then, that he could just credit my card with that amount! WE're had a lot of problems lately with our online Walmart orders.
So anyway I'm hoping to get that bear head done today but there's always the usual Monday things to do.

Ruth, that stinks that you have had difficulty with Walmart.com recently. Yes I have had to deal with their online help about orders. I wonder if you should change your password if you were charged for an order you did not make. I wonder how they will resolve your situation- and yes in a way I can see why they are sending you to the credit card company. Its kind of hard to tell which entity is at fault. (In my case the charge never went through….so I did not have to ask for a credit). I hear that online ordering is up, again…which makes sense. Why would anyone want to go to the store if its so much easier to shop online?
Pretty soon I will have 5 days in a row when I do NOT have to be in a big hurry to do something. I am sure the time will fly and before I know it things will be crazy again….its a stage and little ones will not be little forever….so I have to enjoy them while they are!!!
Got study tonight…which I hope I have the energy for. I was at church yesterday for a dinner celebrating my pastor and his wife’s 25th anniversary with us. (Where did that time go?). It was a lovely event….well attended also.
Hope I can sneak in some time on ornaments before I go…
So hard to believe that it is Monday. Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad the celebration of the anniversary of your pastor and his wife 25 years was nice and enjoyable. How great to have them that long! I hope you were able to get a little done on your ornaments before study this evening
Phyl, it sounds like with Doris it may have been a little glitch in her internal pacemaker/defibrillator. She's a tough woman and does spring back from all her setbacks.
I did get in a little crocheting today but haven't finished the bear head yet. It will just take a few minutes to finish the head it'self but then I have to put on the eyes, mouth, and nose then sew it onto the blanket. The pattern has a collar around the bear head but I haven't decided whether I'm make that and put it on yet. I think I'll make one for the 14 month old great grandaughter after this one only for her I think I'll make a bunny and I'll make a different blanket part.
I did a little cooking today and a little cleaning too.

Good to hear that Doris is moving forward with her setback and seems to be getting good treatment- we know she is a friend of both Ruth and Phyl. Hope it all turns out well for her.
Ruth the blanket lovies sound adorable!! Yes, I can see that finishing the head does not mean its done-you still have to add the face and attach it. A bear and a bunny sure are cute…sweet and charming for sure.
Last super busy day for me this week- or so I hope. I have an appointment today with the attorney to finish the changes I had to make recently. Will be glad that is done!!
CJ- hope you are doing ok- we miss you.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today I have not been in a good mood the last few days I started having a problem with my furnace on Sunday evening and put in a call Monday morning for a service technician. One came yesterday evening and fixed a few things and the furnace was working when he left. About 20 minutes after he left it shut off again (like it was doing Sunday evening). So I called them again and I'm still waiting today for someone to come to look at it. The house is pretty cold inside. It's a bit warmer upstairs so I've been staying there part of the day. I have run the furnace for about 15 minutes at a time just try to get some heat in the radiators because then they put off some residual heat for a bit, but it's very cold in the house. I sure hope they can do a good fix today. I had been looking forward to making a few special foods this week, but now I'm just not in the mood. I did finish the block for the Happy Everything quilt along and now the top half of the quilt is joined together. This is one of those quilts with all different size blocks, so it's been a bit outside of my comfort zone to make, but I'm glad I'm trying it. I'm hoping I can get this furnace stuff done today and then I can enjoy the next few days. Take care

OH CJ,I'm so sorry about your furnace problems and especially about the fact that they came out and supposedly fixed it and it stopped working again.Yes that would put me in a bad mood too. What kind of special foods were you planning on making?I'd love to hear about them. I think you should make them anyway and enjoy them and don't think a thing about whether or not they're healty or on your eating plan. Just eat and enjoy.
I'm not sure what I'll make that's special for Thanksgiving. I can't make my cheesecake because I don't have cream cheese and I'm not going out to get it so that will wait until next week. I was going to make dh some pecan tarts but the crust is made with cream cheese. He said he would like me to make it in a square or rectangle instead of tarts because in tarts you get more crust than filling so that will be next week also. Neither of us needs all that sugar but it's a holiday and, although we don't really celebrate the holiday, we're going to enjoy some special foods regardless.
I did finish the bear lovey completely. I even wove in ends and made the face. Now for the bunny one and I'm going to look up a video for sewing these little animal parts onto a lovey because it's hard to do and I'd like to see how the "experts" do it. I picked out a pattern for dh's blanket so I'll start that next and in between bouts of working on it I'll try to get some Christmas things in. Oh I did decorate last week. My decorating consisted of putting two mini ornaments on my Norfolk Island Pine. Two were all I had handy plus the poor pine probably couldn't hold any more than two.
Ginny, I hope that everything went well on your appointments today and anything else you had to do so that you can enjoy the rest of the week
Phyl, don't work too hard and strain your back

Good morning! Just a quick hello….will stop back later to post more.
CJ- yes I hope that you can get someone capable to fix that heater problem. We are in a cold snap right now and, heat is a necessity.
Ruth, I have an awesome recipe for pecan pie bars- no cream cheese needed. Will try to post it later.
Phyl, take care of yourself. Its really good to hear that you are now narrowing down those foods that cause you difficulty. All steps toward managing your health.
Gotta head to the store very shortly for a handful of items. Then a lot of cooking today.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We had a few inches of snow last night, but we need more if the skiers will be able to ski. I don't see any flakes on n our ten day forecast, but with the weather, who knows.
Cold weather has brought us clean fresh air. Last night there was a beautiful starry starry night.
hb has been sleeping upstairs since Sunday. Home health continues for another week. He may not qualify for hospice yet. Unfortunately, hb's dog died Monday night. Not unexpected but very hard on hb.

It snowed here too. I didn't know that snow was expected. It did warm up and most melted.
Ginny, what all goodies are you making for tomorrow? Will there be a lot of people for dinner? And thank you in advance for the recipe. No hurry at all though.
Sue, I'm sorry about your hubby's dog. I'm sure it affects him a lot.
I did a little cooking too but not much.
CJ, were you able to get your furnace running normally?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
Ruth, good to hear that you got some snow, but its all gone. That way it looked pretty for a short while but was not a pain to remove. Have you been working on the bunny lovey??
Sue- a clear starry night is a wonderful thing, and the skies seem so much clearer during cold weather. What a lovely sight. So sorry about your husbands dog. With his cognitive impairment it has to be even more difficult to manage his hurt and disappointment. I hope that you are able to somehow keep your home health care for him, some sort of assistance to help with his care.
Phyl-yeah its hard to remember how old our kids are.( I do remember their birth years….) Did you get your cleaning done? Are you cooking today?
CJ- did they ever return to fix your furnace?
Got all my cooking done yesterday- well for now. Ha ha ha
I tried to import the recipe for pecan pie bars and the web site would not allow. So here goes.
Pecan pie bars. 2 Cups all purpose flour 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup cold butter. (Cubed)
4 large eggs 1 1/2 cups corn syrup 1 1/2 cups sugar 3 tablespoons butter melted 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt. Cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs . Press into a greased 15x10x1 inch baking pan. Bake 20 minutes.
For filling, in a large bowl, whisk eggs, corn syrup, sugar, mealter butter and vanilla. Stir in pecans. Spread over hot crust.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until filling is set. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
Its from Taste of Home if I missed anything….enjoy!
