WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C121D2 - every morsal written down, nothing tracked.
The cabinet guy let me bring a panel home overnight as well as a sample of the top. DH liked it a lot. Whew! It will take 6 weeks for the vanity but painter will start work early December. My next project will be to choose the paint. I'll get on that next week.

I am so glad I set a November challenge for myself. I want to eat throughout my food prep this afternoon but will keep it under control so I can log another OP day. I won’t track tomorrow through Sunday. I think for December I’ll plan my OP days week to week.
Lori, what great news about your son and his gf!
Meg, good distinction between normal eating and normal Thanksgiving eating. I’ve been thinking about that too. I’m not gonna lie though, I’m really looking forward to all the food.
Nancy, 6 weeks for the vanity isn’t bad in these strange times. Have fun choosing the paint colors. When I showed DH my choices he showed some disdain and then asked if I asked my brother about the colors (he owns a painting business). He actually asked me that twice. The second time I snapped back “Bill doesn’t live here, we do”. Ugh You had a great day #1 of not tracking. Here’s to day #2!

Day 4. Feeling encouraged this morning - the Half Size Me podcast from Monday was a real shot in the arm. I listened while I was rowing so got a double whammy of encouragement.
Plans for the Thanksgiving meal: skip the mashed potatoes so I can have 2 servings of cornbread dressing; avoid the stuff I really don't care for (e.g. green bean casserole, croissants); drink water; have seconds on turkey and cranberries if I want; have a slice of pie with whipped cream. I think that's reasonable and wouldn't leave me feeling deprived.
Jan and Nancy: I'm starting to feel glad that my DH has no interest in paint colors, cabinets, etc. He's fine with whatever I pick out. Of course we don't see eye-to-eye on his "stuff."
Hope you all have a peaceful and thanksgiving-filled day.

Working 1/2 day today, then heading to run some errands. Tonight I'll make the crustless pumpkin pie and the pumpkin fluff. I am loving having all the MFP data. It is so easy to go back and see how I handled last year's Thanksgiving dinner and the day after....so easy to track also. I just copied and I'll edit as needed. Plan on enjoying a taste of the side dishes and one piece of "real" dessert - if I want more that's when I'll have the crustless pie...
Nancy, Wonderful how smoothly your projects are going!!
Jan, Nice how the challenges are working so well for you!!
Meg, that sounds like a Wonderful "normal" way of approaching Thanksgiving dinner. I'm halfway thru the podcast....find it very motivating!

The raised weight from after the binge has so far remained steady with no tracking. Sort of an SV I guess but at some point will have to get into weight loss mode.
Jan - I loved watching you succeed in your November challenge. I hope you're extremely proud of yourself. This non-tracking period for me is interesting. I find myself having small pleasurable things that I normally avoid to save calories and points - like cranberry sauce with my chicken and tarter sauce with my fish. I also got a package of costco turkey and swiss rollers (4 pts). For dinner I had one with an artichoke. I used 2 T melted land o lakes light butter with the artichoke instead of my normal 1 T. I don't think I consumed more than 1 T but I enjoyed the option not to skimp on the butter. I did have a Lindt truffle after dinner which I wouldn't normally have if I were tracking. I wouldn't call it pigging out, more like easing up. It definitely helps that I'm writing down every morsel. Also I love the time saved. Some of my line dancing friends and I were discussing the new ww plan. No one seems to like it for the same reasons I don't. Maybe when this is over, I'll go back to counting calories but count points mentally based on the old plan. TBD. BTW I made Dh's french fries in the air fryer and he loved them. The basket didn't even get dirty, still looks brand new, so I just stuck it in the dishwasher. Any staining showed up in the pan below but was easy to remove.
Meg - It makes me so happy when you are in control. Your Thanksgiving dinner plan sounds perfect. I went to Sherwin Williams today. I can't believe what they gave me. A 10" long by 2" thick attached collection of thousands of paint samples organized by shade. I ordered the vanity and that guy let me keep the sample of the top and gave me a nice sample of the vanity. So now I can take my time working on color possibilities. I don't think DH will get much involved in that project. I'll just show him what I chose and he'll say fine. Or if I give him a couple of possibilities he might help with the choice.
Lori - Perfect decision to have one "real" dessert followed up with your more calorie conscious choices. Win Win.
