WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Totally lost control yesterday. It was like I threw in the towel and like Nancy had said just didn’t care. After reflexing, I realized - lack of sleep, too many temptations and feeling a little sorry for myself was the culprit. I always try to look on the bright side of things but yesterday got the better of me (just missing having my kids home for the holidays). After a good night’s sleep, a lot of self talk, I’m ready to get over it, count my blessings and continue to concentrate on things I can control...starting with healthy eating....

Lori - It's a new day for both of us. My plan has already been entered in MFP - 1163 calories, 17 old purple points, and every single nutritional goal in line. It took a lot of tweaking to get there. I weighed 145.5 this morning. My goal is 138.5 (home scale), so 7 lbs to lose before even considering maintenance. The nutritional goals are challenging since my program is now based on 1200 calories. It feels good to be done with all of that binging. I just hope I can stay focused.

Day 3. Plans went awry (unexpected outing that required lunch out) but it's OK. Not going crazy. Tracking.
Lori: Self-Pity is not knocking at my door today, but I am doing my best refuse entry. Sleep and a fresh start: you'll be back on track quickly, I know.
Nancy: I have confidence in you as well. WTG making the plan and starting today instead of Monday!
Peace to all.

Meg - The kids have plans today so no lunch out and they're using my car. There was, therefore, no excuse not to start today. Planning ahead is a life saver. So far, followed to the tee. I'll try to plan tomorrow in advance as well. One day at a time. It's awesome that you didn't let the unplanned outing throw you off entirely.

I had a great trip to NY. It was so good to see my mom, sister, aunt, and brother. We shopped all day Friday and into the evening. I left before they went to Target; I just couldn’t do it anymore. It was a long time to be wearing a mask. I got back last night and found myself completely overwhelmed and irritated that things never seem to hold together when I’m not home. I always spend around an hour putting things away, cleaning up, etc, even when they do a good job. Things just aren’t left the way I like them. I had to stop on my way home and get a new vial of insulin for the cat; Nick left the other (brand new) one sitting out overnight. Little stuff like that. I “rewarded” and consoled myself by eating 3 pieces of cherry pie. Stupid. I’ve been on my feet all day; this is the first time I’ve really sat down. Meg, here’s the recipe for crustless pumpkin pie: thepounddropper.com/crustless-pumpkin-pie/I really wanted to make some today but ran out of time and energy.

Jan - So glad you visit went well. Aggravating, isn't it, when you come to a mess. Oh well, that's the price we pay for a little time off. Sounds like things are now back the way you like them. As for the cherry pie, c'est la vie. Tomorrow is a new day, yada yada yada.......

Nancy, I was so cranky about it, too. They did try. Tomorrow will be back on the beam. It sounds like your family is doing very well. We always hope that the next generation does better than we did, and it certainly sounds like that’s the case.

C60. D18. OP. Tracking. Yoga + exercise. Might do another 45 minutes of Yoga mad practice piano.
((((Lori)))) I'm so sorry you don't get to see your kids during this season. I cannot imagine how hard that is. DD is graduating from college in December and is closing on house the afternoon after her last final exam. This is a new era of us not being her "home base.". She will be 5 hours (275 miles) away, but still in Minnesota. Sending you a big 🤗 hug.
Nancy- way to go getting back on the beam. Your kids have exciting lives.
Meg- keep that count going. Busy week ahead?
Jan- I so relate to living with men. They simple don't see and / or don't care. I just give up. My birth mom came for Thanksgiving brunch today and the house was messy. Not a dang thing I could do, as I was cooking brunch. I just tell myself this is the price f a full house. My DH is completely unorganized and a mess on every single surface.
Hope everyone has a nice week ahead. I took tomorrow morning off from work - start at noon.
