Success is allowed to make mistakes.
Even nutrition pros often rely on items that come in a box or bag. Registered dietitians share their favorite packaged foods:
1. Breakfast cereal: Fortified breakfast cereal is budget friendly, no-fuss way to get a lot of important nutrients. Some ready to eat cereals contain high fiber, vitamin B, calcium, magnesium, iron & zinc. Choose boxes with at leat 3 grams of fiber & no more than 6 grams of added sugar per serving.
2. Whole grain frozen waffles: Whole-grain, high protein varieties can help you stay surprisingly full thanks to a combo of fiber, egg whites & soy. Aim for those with at least 8 grams of protein per serving . Compare labels & opt for lower sugar versions.
3. Flavored creamers: Flavored creamer can jazz up coffee & make it seem more special & enjoyable. Look for brands containing the least amount of artificial flavors & sugar.
4. Beef jerky: With 10 grams of protein & only about 80 calories per ounce, beef jerky is a great low-cal snack.
5. Flavored Nut butter: Flavored nut butters can be very satisfying & a little indulgent. They can hit the spot with little added sugar. Shop for butters with minimal ingredients. Enjoy spread on a n apple or swirled into oatmeal.
Do you eat any of these things on a regular basis? What are some of your pre-bagged favorites?
Happy Hanukkah Holly & anyone else who celebrates it.
FUN: Do you do a lot of holiday shopping? Do you do most of your shopping on line or in store?

We don't rely on anything packaged except perhaps plain peanut butter if/when we can find it. I used to like beef jerky for trips but don't see it here and it would be prohibitively expensive if I did find it! The others...too expensive, not available, too high in points...things like that.

Haven't shopped for the holidays in years. Don't shop online as we don't use the credit card. I think that we will be shopping for underwear and a few other items soon. Our daughter sent money to us for Christmas and I may make a list of what I might need/want and go out to find the items...if I can...after I get the booster shot.

Cereal - I usually have shredded wheat and raisin bran cereal on hand. Does make an easy meal/snack. Jerky - Don't buy it anymore, but used to get jerky because it was an easy & filling snack my husband took to work. But, high sodium can be an issue with jerky. Nut butters - Yes, I sometimes buy a small jar of vanilla almond butter. Brown rice, shelf stable & microwavable minuterice.com/products/brown-rice-ready-to-serve/I don't get these anymore because I have more time & can cook/freeze rice etc, but they are quick and good - there's also a rice & quinoa Triscut wheat crackers - eat with cheese or tuna or chicken salad Shopping - not much. I mail some cookies to a couple of extended family. Exchange some small gifts with a long time friend. Shopped locally. (Cathy - love the picture and the red glasses!)

I eat cereal quite often, in fact, I had Special K this morning. I enjoy it with fresh fruit & almond milk. It is a bit higher in pts than eggs, but I do enjoy it.
This may sound silly, but I have never bought any nut butters, other than peanut butter. When I look at it in the stores, it seems quite expensive, so I always just opt for plain ole peanut butter. I used to eat peanut butt quite often, but I have tried to kick the habit, as it is so high in WW pts.
DH likes jerky, we often have it when we are on car trips.
Last year, I think I did all of my holiday shopping on line & I have done a lot of it that way this year. We are going to the military base, to the PX & the Commissary on Thursday. I will probably finish up my shopping there. I buy for the kids & my GS. He is 16 now & is driving, he would probably rather have cash than anything else, so that's probably what the bulk of his gifts will be. At this stage of our lives, we don't need anything. We have everything that we need, actually we need to get rid of things instead of bringing more in. I do have a few friends that I want to get small gifts for & I have a 97 yr old uncle, that I always drop something off to him. I usually make him a cake & maybe just some cozy socks.

I haven't eaten any for a long time, but I eat mini shredded wheat, Cheerios, and Ezekiel 4:9 cereals. The Ezekiel cereal is hard to find. Occasionally I can find it in a store in Minot.
I'll eat beef jerky occasionally. I get small containers of flavored creamers and will have them sometimes with my coffee on Sunday morning or with an afternoon coffee on the rare occasions I have coffee in the afternoon. I haven't tried any flavored nut butters. I get natural peanut butter with only peanuts and a little salt.
Like Judy I get the minute rice in small containers ready to microwave. There is brown rice, mixed brown and wild rice, and brown rice with quinoa. I also like Triscuits.
I do very little Christmas shopping. I just get for my kids and for them I usually shop on line and have the gifts sent directly to them. That way I don't have to deal with postage, and with Amazon Prime there is no specific postage. Occasionally I'll pick up some little item for a friend, but most of the time if I do that I'll bake something. This one friend doesn't do any baking. I know they like baked goods but they usually buy them.
