Happy Thursday to you too, Ginny. It's beautiful weather here except for the wind. It got up to 65 yesterday which was unexpected and today it's already up to 58.
I have some work to do today so will see you later

Hi Ginny and Ruth - I'm glad to see you are doing well today. Hope the nice weather continues for both of you. It's 60 degrees here right now, so I'm happy with the milder weather. I haven't done any quilting today - just didn't feel like it. I guess all the work earlier this week wore me out I might try to do some embroidery later. I made an apple quick bread today and I'm really enjoying it. Here's a link to the recipe and I'll say what I did differently: www.southernplate.com/amazing-apple-bread/I halved the recipe and baked it in a 9x9 pan, so it only needed about 35 minutes to bake (I'd recommend checking it at 30 minutes - I use a toothpick to check). I used one large gala apple and that worked well. I only used cinnamon as my spice. I'm so happy I found this recipe, I really wanted an apple cake to eat this fall, and this one worked well for me. I'm going to look through her other recipes and maybe try some. Hope you all have a great day!

CJ- that recipe sounds really good and I am so glad that you enjoy it!!! I did just stop to check it out…I might be tempted to replace the oil with either half applesauce or half vanilla yogurt to try to keep the cake moist but reduce the fat. (Its one of the reasons I do not make carrot cake much as most recipes for it call for a lot of oil). Embroidery is a really nice back up to quilting…and it requires a lot less fuss and large equipment. I love its portability…and is a much easier process to pick up and put down. When we cut fabric for a quilt there is always the fear of losing a piece of fabric. Its just easier to keep track of embroidery.
Ruth, hope you were able to enjoy the warmer weather…..perhaps even open the windows a bit to enjoy the breeze. A nice treat this time of year when we tend to be cooped up in our homes. Have you finished all your Christmas gifts?? Now……hmmmmmm….did you take advantage of anyones free shipping offers and get more yarn?
Well I thought today was going to be my very long day….and while it was long, that long day will be tomorrow. I drove this afternoon (something I do not like to do for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, I had a little boy who boarded and he was unable to tell me his name. (He speaks no english and I do not speak Spanish.). None of the other students on the bus knew his name and I was able to get a staff member to find out who he is. So sad….and his name was not on his backpack either (believe me I looked). The kids were not terrible….albeit a bit wacky. I am just thankful I got them all home safely.
Think its time for me to work on another ornament. I have to assemble the small pillow base using my machine - which only takes a few minutes. Then I can get started. It was warmer here today also- think it made it to the low 50’s. Its supposed to be in the mid 40’s tomorrow. And thankfully, tomorrow is Friday.
Phyl and Sue, hope that both of you are having a good week. Ginny

CJ, I really like that recipe and I love the site. She has so many recipes just for desserts alone. I didn't even get to look at the others yet but the dessert recipes made me hungry and I am planning to use a few of those.
Ginny, it does, indeed, sound as though you're having two long days in a row. I would think that the child you mentioned would have been taught to understand when a person asks his name and how to answer in English. How does he manage in school I wonder. I'm glad you found out who he is and where to take him.And yes, I'm sure you're sending a prayer of thanks each time you get your busload of children safely home.
Well the last couple days my crafting hasn't produced much. I started on another mosaic hat but after about 13 rows I decided it was too large and ripped it out. Later I started a different hat and didn't make it large enough which would have been ok since I'm adding it to my donate hats except I kept the ribbed brim from the mosaic hat which is a good size for an adult but then started making the body of the hat too small. I asked my dh what blanket pattern he wanted...remember he asked about some that looked "southwest"... anyway he said he didn't want a blanket after all so I told him I had planned to make him something for Christmas and he told me to make him a couple hats so that's what I'll do and it will be easy. I've decided on the patterns now to decide on the yarn.
Oh and Ginny, no I don't quite have all the Christmas things done. I still have to sew on the bunny ears and make it a face. I should just get busy and do that and have it done.I have a couple things to mail too so better get busy packaging those although I'm not sure when I'll make it to the post office.
I need to do some garage cleaning today while it's still warm enough to work out there. We don't have a heated garage and I wouldn't want to waste the cost of heat in a garage anyway. So will see you all later

Hello Ginny - I'm glad the school could help the little boy, that has to have been so frustrating not being able to communicate with him and then his backpack not identifying him. I think the apple quick bread recipe could be adapted several ways to make it "healthier". It's a nice easy recipe and very Fall-Like Ruth - Hope you were able to finish things in the garage while the weather was milder. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I've done pretty much nothing today and that's all I felt like doing I hope I'll feel like working on a some quilting this weekend. I was thinking how I'd really like to get away somewhere, but I have no desire to travel now. It was a bit cooler here today and cloudy. Take care everyone and have a great weekend

CJ- absolutely nothing wrong with a day off or a quiet day. Perhaps you will be inspired to make something this weekend. I will give the apple cake recipe a try…will try using applesauce for half the oil which usually works out well. Will let you know.. wish we lived a little bit closer CJ- we could travel to meet each other for lunch.
Ruth, I do remember Dh asking about a southwest looking blanket or wrap….hats are much easier and I know you will enjoy working on them. Cleaning the garage is a thankless job for sure. When I had a garage it was not heated anyway. But it does look nice when all done and nice when well organized and you can find what you are looking for.
I worked a long day yesterday…and then went to a lovely light display at the local arboretum( we usually go every year). I went with Dd1 and the little ones. Always good to see them. Other than a walk today, I think I am home today and will perhaps do some online shopping…
Yesterday something I ordered from walmart was supposedly delivered. It never got here. (Ring doorbell indicates no delivery all afternoon other than my normal mail hours earlier). Walmart wants me to wait 2 business days for the package in case it was checked in as delivered and is still on the truck. Or perhaps it went to a neighbors house. It was a toy for my silly cats….wish they had it this am as they are acting like their normal goofy selves.
I will get a walk in later after some housework Ginny

Ginny, I'm glad you got to got to a light display. They are usually very beautiful events. Sorry about your package being lost. I told you about our recent problems with Walmart.ONe was resolved, the other is still pending. Before that dh had ordered me some yarn. Then he got a message that the order was out for delivery followed soon after by a message that it was returned to Walmart because of it being damaged and they refunded his money. Soon after that he got a message from FedEx that it had been delivered. It hadn't of course, because it had been returned. I may have mentioned this before. How can a package have been scanned as delivered when there was no package We didn't bother to report that to Walmart because, as I mentioned, we never got the yarn andthe money had been refunded. Today I got an email saying that my order was going to be delivered today but when I checked the tracking it's in Ocala, Fl.
I haven't done any crocheting yet. I was cooking and also doing some cleaning
I hope you all had a great day

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday at this time it was nearly 60 degrees, today 27 and snowing. Oh well. I'm finally going to make the cinnamon rolls. I just have to find a good recipe because I can't seem to find the one I used last years. I did get some crocheting in last night but not much. The hat I picked to make for dh is a little bit more complicated than most. It's make with a rectangle (sort of) and has slip stiches, sc, hdc, then more slip stitches to make the hat lengthwise. Then you sew a seam, which I don't like to do, and gather the top. In making it this way the ribbed brim in slip stitches and the gathering of the top are all made along with the body of the hat in one piece. They do the slip stitch part for the ribbing in a very different way so that takes time. I'm going to make a couple simpler ones. Dh doesn't like fancy stitches and this hat will end up looking like knit so he'll like that.
Ok off to look up recipes. See you all later.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today The weather here hasn't been too bad, a bit mild but cloudy. Tomorrow we're supposed to have much warmer weather and then colder weather on Tuesday. It's just up and down with the temperatures this last month or so. I haven't worked on any quilting since earlier in the week. Hopefully there will be another block for the Happy Everything quilt along tomorrow and then the final block for the Fall Frolic quilt along on Wednesday. I'll be happy to get those 2 Fall Frolic tops together. I'll be happy to wrap some of these projects up. Hope you all get to do some crafting. Take care

Weather??? Not so bad here, it was in the high 40’s today and I think similar tomorrow. But there is rain coming tomorrow early morning and a chance of snow on Wednesday.
CJ- having so many projects coming and going would be confusing to me!! Yes, it will be nice for you to get that pretty fall frolic quilt top done and be one block closer to finishing the happy everything quilt. Then perhaps you can work on a nice Christmas project…if that is what you choose to do. Have you checked out any new BOM’s for next year?
Ruth, that hat sounds awfully nice- and I hope that Dh likes it. Sounds great that it will look knit….what a different way to make a hat. Did you ever find your recipe for cinnamon rolls?
Ok so I went to church this am….and after that walked back to the quilt show. Took some pictures this time which I hope to import here. They are all antiques from the 1800’s- and its such a humbling experience to view them.
Gonna go work on an ornament now. Ginny

CJ,,sometimes we just have to take a couple days off from our crafting and sometimes just switch to a different project for a time.
Ginny, thanks for sharing the picture. There are some nice quilts there for sure
It did snow a bit and is still snowing. I don't know how much we'll get altogether. the interstate here is closed because of an accident and road conditions.
I didn't find the same recipe but I did make the cinnamon rolls and they are good. I had a half one. Now I have to get myself on track to get these crochet projects done for Christmas and work on the beginning of the year's birthdays.
Have a great evening.See you in the new week
