Believe you are worthy!
Since the 1st of the year is just around the corner, here are a few ideas to save on medical costs in the new care. Not exactly weight related, but our all round health is always weight related.
1. Over the counter meds: The bill for drugstore remedies for coughs, colds, headaches, muscle aches, etc. can cost a household over $350 every year. Head to the store with the lowest prices on name brand meds. Wal-mart! They are up to 50% cheaper than their competitors, including CVS, Rite Aid, Target & Walgreens.
2. Save 85% on your RX: If you are spending more than $125 per year in out of pocket expenses for your prescription drugs, consider a new way to save on your meds: Sign up for Amazon Prime ($119 per year) or Wal mart+ ($98 per year). Not only do these memberships offer free shipping on purchases along with other money-saving perks, you can save up to 80% on generic drugs, if you are buying without insurance. If you have insurance, Amazon will tell you if they can beat your insurer's price. Wal mart+ members save up to 85% on thousands of prescription meds, plus a select number of meds are free!
3. Save on Medicare coverage: Open enrollment period for medicare ends Dec 7th. Shop around for the new Medicare Advantage plan (part C), which is a prescription drug plan. Premiums have dropped an average of 34% over the past 3 years. To compare plans, visit Medicare.gov.
4. Nab cheaper insurance: Due to the passage of the Health Insurance Reform Act, insurance companies now have greater competition from new, lower cost insurers. Take advantage of the enrollment period which ends Dec. 15. Search on-line for your state & visit the marketplace. Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.gov.
Cathy, sorry none of these things are available to you.
Holly, the things that I posted on Mon & Tues are from Eating Well Magazine. I am so computer dumb that I still don't know how to copy & paste. Both son & grandson have given up on me. They show me over & over, but by the time I want to use it , I have forgotten. Writing it down doesn't help. Can't follow the instructions, I just surmise the article.
FUN: Do you like getting your bill statements (including insurance) on-line, or do you prefer the old snail mail statements?
