WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C121D5, 1170 calories, 19 old purple points, all nutritional values met, line dancing
Ed just had a blow up with tonight's aide. In this case he was absolutely right. She's gone. Worked 5 nights and both weekend days. We'll manage until hopefully they find replacements.

Nancy, the other day I was thinking that we hadn’t heard much about the aide situation. Sorry about last night’s aide casualty.
Meg, oh I am very specific about what needs to get done. This isn’t my first rodeo with these boys (men). I even put all the dried ingredients and cooking apparatus on the counter the other afternoon.
Kathy, you flew through C60!
If anyone wants a good laugh, search “Marie Callender’s Sharon Pie” on facebook. I was crying from laughing so hard.

Day 7. Things are going well and I'm grateful.
Nancy: Yes, I'm really liking pre-tracking. I always have planned out the day, but then filled in online as the day went on. Having it already tracked online, I've been less likely to add something in. Plus I can see exactly what the total calories are before I even start the day. Yes, I'm trying to follow the plan exactly, although I don't want to say I'm obsessing. I'm just the kind of person that thrives on structure ("none is better than one") and knowing the boundaries. I'm open to subbing a comparable food as needed, since I don't want to be unhappy with what I'm eating. But: so far, so good. Re. your plan for lunches: it makes perfect sense. Enjoy each special meal but not throwing the whole day out the window.
Jan: Re. lists for boys - today I'm at DD's house supervising the kids while she and hubby are at a long dr. appointment. I left instructions for DH to wash, peel, chop potatoes, put in a bowl of water; peel and slice onions and put in a zip lock bag and put into the fridge, and left everything set up on the counter for him. We'll see if he veers from my oh-so-clear instructions. Heh.
Take care, all.

All going well - tomorrow night is the first Christmas outing. I pre-tracked the apps I think will be ordered and filled in healthy choices surrounding them. Well see how it goes.
Nancy, sorry to hear about the aide - hope you find someone sooner than later....Good plan for your luncheons!
Jan, so sad about your cat....Hope your detailed instructions work...
Kathy, Whoo Hoo on D21!! I like how you are working the treats into your blue dots, nice job!!
Meg, Sounds like pre-tracking is working well for you and that you're being subbing as needed!

Jan - Our M W F gal is going to do Saturdays until we find someone. That's a big help cuz I can have my pizza, do shopping and run errands that day. No Canasta which is disappointing but the rest we can manage.
Meg - Maybe obsessive was the wrong word. Like you, I also thrive on structure. I just meant that I make it a mission to follow my plan. So far it's working. I find it much less stressful than "winging" it. Avoids all the "should I, shouldn't I's" I'm glad you like my luncheon plans.
Lori - Enjoy your Christmas outing. It looks like you've got it under control.

Well, ladies, I think I'm pleased with an adjustment I made this evening. After watching the kids for 8 hours, DD brought me a treat: a little key lime tart. I couldn't refuse. I took it home and adjusted my dinner (still had my protein and veg, but not the higher calorie soup I'd planned). I enjoyed the tart and was only 100 calories over my goal. I'm calling it a win!

Meg - That little tart saved you from feeling deprived. To me it sounds like a very wise choice.
