My Christmas cards came so that will keep me busy for awhile. I put out my coffee table decoration. I don't do much. No one will be here. Son will come get me for Christmas with them. Thanksgiving was with Daughter.
The wasps have invaded my back porch so I must get a can of spray. Wasps here. Mice for Sandy. Always something! At least Betty keeps the mice away pretty well.
I don't want to deal with the side effects but I guess I will get the Moderna booster.

Lucy good luck on getting an appointment for the Moderna booster. Took me calling several places to find one where I could get an appointment before end of December beginning of January. If you get the Pfizer plenty of places to go but not for Moderna. Fred got the Pfizer but I got the Moderna when we got the first vaccines. Because of my diabetes I was scheduled at a different place than he was. But at least I got one for next week so just have to stay well before then.
Never heard from the pest guy yesterday so Fred called his cell phone and also left a message. I don’t want to get him in trouble but also want the mice gone so if we don’t hear from him today might have to call the office on Monday. I wish I hadn’t gone to the game Wednesday night as then I would have been here to get his call and not having to wait for a call back. This is very unusual for him not to get back to us right away.
Fixed a chuck roast in the slow cooker yesterday along with small potatoes and green beans. Usually the roast is tender and moist but this one even though tender was very dry.
Fred went to Kroger the other day to get their fried chicken for dinner, much better than KFC. Anyway he went around 3 instead of his usual time of 4 and when he got back home said it was a good thing he went early as they had a sign saying deli would be closing at 4 and there was only one lady behind the counter so he asked why were they closing early? She said people keep quitting and some don’t even do that they leave for their break and just never return! So she was the only one left on the job and her shift ended at 4 with no staff left to relieve her!
Have a haircut at noon and that’s all that’s planned. I do want to get to Walmart at some time to buy an aluminum pan with a lid to use for my 7 layer salad and a few of the things I use in it so I won’t have to worry about the store running out. The fresh produce like iceberg lettuce, green pepper, celery and onion will have to be bought closer to when I make it.

Good Morning Friends,
Thanks Lucy for a cheerful start. It's a grey day here, so I really appreciate the colorful pictures.
Think I'll have a quiet day. I may have moved too many larger items yesterday so feel like I need to rest my body today. At least it's clean behind those things.
After school hours yesterday we attended a basketball game that one of our GGS's was playing in. The opposing team was the local middle school. Seemed a little strange sitting on the visitor's side of the gym. Same school our kids attended so, lots of memories. BTW, our GGS's team won!
Molly, I'm not cleaning out stuff like you are. I did a lot of that last year when we moved out of our fifth wheel & back home. Of course, we have collected some "stuff" since then. Now it's the areas that need more than a surface cleaning that I'm working on. I may not get it all done before Christmas but at least I'll make a good start. The kitchen is almost done.

Happy friday!
I am now two weeks and one day post left total knee replacement surgery. Yesterday I did a lot of housework including laundry and it felt so good to be able to do anything.
I also began walking around the house without my walker. I'm usually pretty stable but I get wobbly now and again so I ordered a cane and I hope it will be in from Amazon today.
Speaking of mice and wasps my poor son has an ongoing battle with a little tiny ants in his bathroom. His bathroom is on the second floor and the wall is the front exterior wall..
We have no idea where these bugs keep coming from and we keep using the best ant treatments but they do tend to come back. I don't think it is a problem that we have killing the nest I have a feeling since we live in a townhouse that they're coming from my neighbor's house for the main nest might be. Just a guess on my part.
For some reason every morning I am putting on weight on the scale and yet I am keeping under 30 points. I'm thinking that it is either salt retention or possibly something I'd rather not discuss LOL. It is annoying though when you know that you're not cheating and that scale still goes up!
Last night marked the 5th night of Hanukkah. Three more to go...

Just got word my policeman grandson in law has lukemia.
I have the moderna booster scheduled for next Friday.
I lost one pound since the last visit. I figured I had gained but I guess it is just shifting positions.
Gotta go get wasp spray and on out to Bill's. He isn't to bend over.

I understand here we can get whatever booster is available, doesn't matter which Vaccine you got. The positive numbers are up, but I think I expected that with school kids and those not vaccinating which are a lot. Will not say what I think about that. Lucy so sorry your DGS inlaw has leukemia, you have certainly had lot of bad news lately. Hope it stops soon!!
Kathie, the blanket sounds awesome. Love what you have picked. I love to decorate with candy canes, always put some on Christmas tree, not that anyone in the family eats them but they are just so cheery. I will put one in my hot cider now and then. Does seem like Jim, is sleeping a lot more lately. I know you worry!! You are a great care giver, hang in there!!
Have to get to state store for the Vodka so I can make the Kalua. It needs at least 2 weeks to set. thinking the first of the week. unless we do something like that when I go shopping with DD and DSIL. When I get finished with that shopping trip, hoping the tools will be all bought. Today I am organizing some of the presents that have come in. Pretty soon DGSs snow suit comes today. I got my Mary Kay order yesterday. That is just for me.!! did get some non scented hand cream for my DD#2. she is so allergic and her hands still gets eczema on her wrists especially in winter. Her DH uses her hand cream also he loves it. so I just buy 2 each time I get it for her.
It is colder today 37° and still windy but that is part of winter!! Garbage Co. finally got the garbage picked up for all 3 of us. for some reason my neighbor next door got her picked up but not us. I was going to call and ask If I needed to put a lantern on top the dumpster.!! He flies down the road so fast I am not sure he even looks and it is dark when he comes. Left the Christmas lights on all night and also the porch lights. Was kind of paying the neighbor back for his darn double porch lights he just put up on his addition. He is one the NEXT Road over and can barely see the house but those lights must be LED lights. We live in the country and think it is RUDE!! Won't do it again tonight and did order a new timer from Amazon yesterday, should be here today. Don't feel like Scrooge today.
Hope Phyl has a good trip and doesn't have much pain from riding in car.

So when we were in Walmart our bug guy called and we met him here at 1:30. His phone was acting up so he never got our other messages but got the one we left this morning. I was surprised he was going to put down glue strips as he didn’t want to put down bait with the dogs plus the mice go away to die somewhere in the house. I wasn’t too happy about it as I don’t want to see a mouse but also was worried they could take the glue strip with them. Well these glue strips are heavy and the size of an iPad! But we have to dispose of them and he said from the droppings he doesn’t think we have more than at the most two. He did rearrange my d-con traps as he said I had the opening pointed the wrong way as they would not see the opening. So he put down four strips. One behind the fridge, one behind the stove and one on each counter. I asked him would they squeak when stuck and he said yes! Great as our bedroom is on the other side of the kitchen wall so I’ll hear it. Not sure if the dogs will but hopefully this will take care of it. He did recommend making the porch screen door fit tighter as they could get in with the small gap at the bottom of the door.

Hi!
Late getting here, today! We went to breakfast this morning, and that always makes me late and then throws my whole day's routine off. I decided to read -- nuff said!
I have done my "walks" of circles, and will do another one when I finish here. I try to plan the dinner menu as I walk, but today DH wan ts to pick up a pizza. The porcupine meatballs were good yesterday, by the way. I used V-8 to cook them in, and yum!
Hope the mice are quickly gone! And the wasps! And the ants! There's a reason why theya re called pests.
Hugs! Diane

I guess I could get a different booster but I have gotten my vaccines from my PCP and that is the one she has. I got to walk Bearly on the road. There was no wind. Today wasn't as warm as yesterday but nice out. Cloudy. Slight chance of rain tonight and the weekend.

Hello, friends!
Good news on your recovery, Shragae! So glad you are doing well. The cane is probably a really good idea -- just in case.
Lucy, what awful news about your DGS-in-law. Many people live long lives with leukemia, but it's really worrisome. Please give us a first name to pray for him.
Marlene, so glad for you that you have gone through everything already. Everything will be spic & span by Christmas at your house! I try to get every piece of furniture with wheels on it. Guy has actually built platforms with wheels for some things (freezer, large utility cabinets, etc.). He put wheels on the new bed (main bed over trundle) at my insistence. I also was determined to replace the carpeting throughout our house with wood/laminate flooring. It needed to be changed years ago (ick), but I couldn't get anyone to do it; and I, physically, couldn't. Now I use area rugs.
Sandy, let us know how the glue-pads work with the mice.
About the ants . . . I think our house must have been built on an anthill. When it was new (1978), the ants were very tiny and transparent. Over the years, they have matured and become black. Kathie's first husband was a pesticide expert, and I used her knowledge to buy the Terro bait traps (they have the same ingredients). They do not harm pets, but Casey hasn't bothered any of them. We had a pesticide person come two or three times, but these bait traps are working for us.
Wasps are the reason Guy and I haven't built a log house. We visited one that is close-by, and the owners explained that wasps really like to live in the logs. That cinched it for me!
We had breakfast with friends this morning (she turned 70 yesterday), then ran errands together. I think we crossed off almost everything. Guy was frustrated dealing with crowds at Walmart. He came home exhausted. I explained that is the way I feel after shopping every time I go. The consequences of being the family Supply & Purchasing Agent. (BTW, I still haven't been able to find Soft Soap or it's WM equivalent!)
My new interest is hidden/security pockets in jackets and vests. One company,, SCOTTeVEST has developed travel clothing. Another, SAV-T-POCKETS, has a goal of creating clothing that can carry everything for a mom to go into a store and be able to hold her child's hand rather than carrying a purse. The twins do not have lockers at their school. They have to carry everything with them. As Christmas gifts, I'd like to find something to make life a little easier for them.
It was over 70º here today. I need to empty the flower containers on our front step. Maybe tomorrow.
See you tomorrow! ~~Mollyann
