Jane I taped Annie last night so I could fast forward through the commercials. Looking forward to watching it as it did look like a fun thing to watch with all the songs.
Never heard from the pest guy yesterday so Fred called his cell phone and also left a message. I donât want to get him in trouble but also want the mice gone so if we donât hear from him today might have to call the office on Monday. I wish I hadnât gone to the game Wednesday night as then I would have been here to get his call and not having to wait for a call back. This is very unusual for him not to get back to us right away.
Fixed a chuck roast in the slow cooker yesterday along with small potatoes and green beans. Usually the roast is tender and moist but this one even though tender was very dry.
Fred went to Kroger the other day to get their fried chicken for dinner, much better than KFC. Anyway he went around 3 instead of his usual time of 4 and when he got back home said it was a good thing he went early as they had a sign saying deli would be closing at 4 and there was only one lady behind the counter so he asked why were they closing early? She said people keep quitting and some donât even do that they leave for their break and just never return! So she was the only one left on the job and her shift ended at 4 with no staff left to relieve her!
Have a haircut at noon and thatâs all thatâs planned. I do want to get to Walmart at some time to buy an aluminum pan with a lid to use for my 7 layer salad and a few of the things I use in it so I wonât have to worry about the store running out. The fresh produce like iceberg lettuce, green pepper, celery and onion will have to be bought closer to when I make it.

Good Morning!
It is foggy this morning. Again I will wait until it warms up this afternoon for my walk.
Jane, Annie is my oldest daughter's favorite musical.
A little piece of Annie trivia: Did you know that Ariana Grande played Annie on Broadway? They would not let her mother in to the rehearsals so she tried out for a part and got it. That way she got to keep a better eye on her daughter. It is so great to have a dependable and reliable handy man. Glad you found him! And so close!
Gail, The gift exchange gift I bought: A tower of teas, snowman mug, snowman knee socks and dark chocolate from Germany. The gift I received: A water bottle holder for walking (which I really wanted) and a pretty Totes umbrella (which I needed since I am always losing or breaking them). For tomorrow's gift exchange I bought a Brookstone Color Changing Ambient Himalayan Salt Lamp. I would love to have it!

Iâm making WW bread pudding for breakfast today. Itâs starting to smell good with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
Sandy I havenât made 7 layer salad in years but Iâll look into it again. It has lots of veggies.
Everyone it seems in our neighborhood has a Generac generator. Another neighbor just got one. Should I worry?
Jane lucky you to find a great handyman close by.
Karen E your DDs picture is gorgeous. Weâve had some beautiful sunrises here too. Some have posted on FB by family.
It looks like we will be going to DGDâs graduation from Illinois State University. She opted for the short ceremony. She has an appointment to walk across and receive her diploma and itâs not held in the big auditorium. It should only be 10-15 minutes.
The bookcase is only partially put together. I didnât help much but to hold things in place. I hope the desk is easier but I doubt it.
I need to shop. I need fabric and produce.

VEGAN SWEET POTATO BROWNIES
*These are amazing. There are not too sweet and taste more moist and fudgy the 2nd day. I love them.
Ingredients
â
cup (160 g) sweet potato, baked, about 1 small
Πcup (60 ml) applesauce
Ÿ cup (165 g) almond butter
1 cup (135 g) dates, pitted
1 (120 g) banana, peeled, or 2 large eggs (I used banana - not eggs)
â
cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
œ teaspoon baking soda
â
cup (165 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, or cocoa nibs, optional
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray an 8- inch (23 cm x 23 cm) baking tray with non-stick spray.
2. Place sweet potato, applesauce, almond butter, dates, banana, cocoa powder, and baking soda into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
3. Start the blender on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to its highest speed. Blend for 45 seconds, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
4. Remove the batter from the container and into a bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips and combine.
5. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking pan and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Chef's Notes
These brownies are loaded with whole-food plant-based ingredients. Mashed banana or applesauce are great whole food substitutes for egg in recipes. The addition of the sweet potato makes this treat high fiber, while also providing the moist texture of a traditional brownie.

Good Friday morning! We are in the fifth day of Hanukkah with three more to go...
My blinds were installed yesterday and they are absolutely gorgeous. I always thought my neighbor had very pretty blinds and now that mine are up they look so much better than hers LOL.
So now the only thing left are the new floors. I am waiting to hear from Lumber Liquidators when they come in and they will deliver them to the house. Then I can call my installer to schedule his crew to come and put in the floor.
If money were no object I would actually change all the appliances in my kitchen and get a new kitchen sink which I desperately need. But I have spent a not so small fortune this year on home improvement. I had a terrible roof leak which destroyed the wall of the master bedroom and the entire wall had to be torn out and replaced including a new window. The roof had to be repaired as well.
This then meant that I needed to not only be paint the ceiling but many of the window treatments downstairs had been water damaged and I had a new window in the master bedroom that had no window treatment at all. So I decided to have the entire interior of the house painted after removing the popcorn ceilings which were in the primary part of the house.
That is all done and now the beautiful new Hunter Douglas window treatments are installed... The house really looks completely different and just lovely. My son says it has a coastal feel meaning seashore I guess.
Really looking forward to getting rid of the horrible carpet and replacing it with beautiful new luxury vinyl planks that look like wood.
I hope everyone is enjoying their December so far and not getting too crazy over the upcoming holidays. It can be stressful but remember it is a time of joy and family...
Have a wonderful day.

Good morning!
They say when it rains, it pours and I can attest to that. Now our power recliner has decided to quit working. I sat down last night and when I pushed the button to lift the legs, it made a strange noise and only raised halfway. I put it back down and now it doesn't lift at all. It will recline back just fine so I know it's not the motor. I called Lazy-Boy this morning and most everything is still under warranty but we'll have to pay for labor since that was only covered for 1 yr. The first available appointment they had open wasn't until January 6th. I know it's not the end of the world but it is just one more thing heaped on my plate.
Jerry is getting a chest CT this morning. The doctor ordered it to make sure there isn't any pneumonia. He had a regular chest Xray at the hospital on Sunday that came back normal but the CT scan will give a more in depth picture and pick up on anything the Xray didn't show. He did sleep a bit better last night but was still up 2-3x during the night.
I emailed the construction company and asked if they had heard anything about when the vanity top would be installed. The owner got back to me right away and said both he and his daughter had been calling so today they were going there in person to talk to the son and see what's going on.

Sandy. Several of the commercials on Annie were special so even enjoyed them. This was the best of the live Broadway shows and the kids were just terrific.
Ruth. I did know that about Arianna playing Annie. I thought I wouldnât like her but her appearance on the Voice has changed my opinion and she seems to be a very caring person.
When Jeff was a freshman in high school , my Mother and I took him to New York and saw 8 Broadway shows and Radio City shows. One was Annie . That was a wonderful trip.
Actually really liked the line dance class yesterday since she did two I hadnât done in years and they had a bit more to them. However one has a very tricky pattern which is hard to pick up and is done to Beach Boys music. She did it to Brooks and Dunn so I asked if she did another dance to that music and she didnât know it. That dance would be much easier so maybe she will teach it. I try to keep quiet in there because I donât want to interfere with her class. I never wanted interference in mine.
The concert at my clubhouse tonight says he does songs from the 80s..You know I love any live show. Although I hated the Woodstock one two years ago. I am not much into the comedy ones either.
Those of you doing all the work on your houses are certainly busy. I hope everyone has a good day and weekend

Greetings: Another nice day on tap.
Today is movie club. The movie is Shop Around the Corner, the original 40's one. It's not like the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan one, no internet, but they did write letters. The set up was different. It was interesting and I was entertained.
We went to a new Italian restaurant last night. The Cherry Tomato. I don't think it's a chain, just a neighborhood Italian place. The food was good and reasonably priced. We went early, shortly after I got home from Mahjong and Bill had dispensed with his poker group. I was glad we did. All of their inside tables were filled before we left and their adjacent heated tent was half full. Tables were spaced but I was still surprised at how many ate out. I had seafood fettucine. Yum.
Bill's poker group turned out to be successful which makes me happy. If he can play poker every week then that's another face-to-face activity. I didn't even ask if they wore masks, but the group is all over 70 so I figure they all did. He even made a little money which I think encouraged his interest in going out to dinner. We never go out two nights in a row. And we just did.
That recipe looks interesting. I'm curious about the taste. The cocoa powder should help give it a chocolate kick. That does remind me that the applesauce I gave DS stayed there. DGS-8 had a dental appliance put in and was having a terrible time swallowing. The only thing that sounded good was applesauce so they retrieved my only jar.
Sandy mentioned the issue at Kroger with staff. I think that's rampant everywhere. There are signs in stores that say to be nice to the clerks because they are all that's there and if they go it'll be even worse. I find myself saying thank you twice as often, just to acknowledge anyone's work.
Last night we sat at a table by a window and I watched the server and busperson handling their section. More tables than I'd expect a pair to deal with. The server was great and I told him how efficient I thought he was. He was pleased we'd noticed. He said they were really slammed for a Thursday night. There were two large groups 9 or so people. I didn't think to mention to Bill, but I hope he left a little larger tip.

Jane, I did not know you were watching The Voice this season. I knew you watched it in the past. I did not expect to like Ariana Grande, either, but I do, too. She is such a little sweetheart and far more talented than I originally gave her credit for. It's not like me to prejudge people, but I did. I really love the interaction of the judges on The Voice. I thought that would be missing when Ariana joined the team, but she fits in like she has always been there.

So when we were in Walmart our bug guy called and we met him here at 1:30. His phone was acting up so he never got our other messages but got the one we left this morning. I was surprised he was going to put down glue strips as he didnât want to put down bait with the dogs plus the mice go away to die somewhere in the house. I wasnât too happy about it as I donât want to see a mouse but also was worried they could take the glue strip with them. Well these glue strips are heavy and the size of an iPad! But we have to dispose of them and he said from the droppings he doesnât think we have more than at the most two. He did rearrange my d-con traps as he said I had the opening pointed the wrong way as they would not see the opening. So he put down four strips. One behind the fridge, one behind the stove and one on each counter. I asked him would they squeak when stuck and he said yes! Great as our bedroom is on the other side of the kitchen wall so Iâll hear it. Not sure if the dogs will but hopefully this will take care of it. He did recommend making the porch screen door fit tighter as they could get in with the small gap at the bottom of the door. When I said about how fast they reproduce he said you are okay as it takes 25 days not the 9 I had read so that makes me feel better as I think theyâve been here less than 25.

Do any of you have a lot of files and folders on your desktop of your computer or iPad or tablet? I had so many on my computer that you could not see my wallpaper photo. It took me 2 days to clean it up. I just have apps on my iPad and no files. I have many of the apps grouped into folders. I need to get a few of my newer seldom used apps into folders.
Sharon, I love bread pudding. I am not sure I have had one made with the WW recipe. What is the difference? Stonewood Grill makes an awesome chocolate bread pudding. It is a special occasion treat only and I usually split it with Mike on my birthday. We have a generator and I had one in Ohio, too. Do you remember the Northeast blackout of 2003 was a widespread power outage throughout parts of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States, and NYC? Wasband #2 had recently had been hospitalized with a heart attack. Most of our neighbors were without power for a week. We were only without it for 2 days. Right after that blackout we got a generator. It was gasoline powered and had to be used outside but it was better than nothing. My BFF had a whole house generator installed at a cost of about $10,000. She was one of those who was without power for a week. She only lived 1 mile from me, so I thought we were pretty lucky.
Vicki, Did Jerry's CT scan show pneumonia?
Geri, Glad you are finally starting to feel better.

Good afternoon
Vicki we went through a few of those chairs for DH. He had to sleep Iâm it and it was so helpful in getting him up on his feet. Could you give the contractors a cell phone number so that you wonât be playing phone tag while youâre out? Hope the counter top turns up soon!
Sandy that would gross me out listening to the mice squeal and disposing of them. Of course it beats living with them
Shragae your place must look lovely. You will sure enjoy it once the finishing touches are done.
Jane how great that youâre enjoying line dancing again and what peace of mind having a handyman next door! Such a blessing for you!
Karen C the restaurant sounds lovely and such a good meal. Polka winnings are always fun.
Gail what a nice circle of friends youâre meeting. Of course any group would enjoy your company.
Sharon how nice that all your projects will be done for the holidays. I would never attempt furniture assembly these days. The computer desk unit I put together years ago had lots of unused nuts and bolts when I finished. Thankfully DSIL is talented at assembling.
Pat hope your workload is moving forward. I was so overwhelmed getting my condo ready to show. I needed to sort, sell, move or ditch so much. I ended up stashing stuff away to show it and then I had 30 days to move and organize. Itâs never fun!
Karen E you amaze me with all of your outdoor projects. Donât overdo. I agree with the gas situation. I find myself putting off errands until Iâm heading in that direction for a few stops/appointments.
Was looking forward to todayâs Fitness Class because Iâve been on a roll. Turns out DGD was off school, Parent Conferences. My poor DM had to make 4 visits to see our teachers in one evening. Now people need to take off work. We went to the $ Store for cards and ribbon, balloons and a few treasures for DGD. We stopped into Wendyâs for fries, milk and a frosty for DGD. The workers got into a squabble which turned into a LOUD shouting match with one woman screaming profanity. She then played the victim and walked out. The manager entered at the end of it and came over and offered us a free frosty. Lol
Tomorrow DS arrives. Heâs been in Boston since Thursday Eve but had a business meeting today. It will be a fun day with the DGKs.
TGIF enjoy the weekend!
Marlo

Many of you have had a full day. Me too.
Vicki you do not deserve all the hassles youâve had. Karen C says they come in threes so you are done. Hope Jerry is better.
I no sooner got home from shopping and Don was in a panic. He couldnât pee. We went to a convenience care. Actually a small hospital in another little town. First they did a bladder scan and found there was only a small amount of urine, so he escaped the catheter. How many times have I told him to drink water! After blood tests, urine sample and exams they gave him an IV. That got the water works flowing again. He was probably dehydrated. They sent him home with warnings to listen to his wife.
If Iâd been here Iâd made him drink and kept him calm. His anxiety broke through. What will happen to him if I die? We are both so dependent on each other.
