WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C61. D3. OP. Tracking. Yoga + stationary bike this morning in the hotel.
Nancy- your piano recital sounds delightful!! The boys BB tournament is, luckily, half way to Mom's house. I'll drive there tonight, take her for treatment on Monday, and drive home Monday night.
Lori- so grateful the one thing that does not tempt me is cake :-)
Jan- hope your guys are keeping up their share of house responsibilities.
Hi to Meg.

~2000 calories 471 exercise calories 3/3 December
Yesterday’s calories are a rough estimate. We ordered pizza for a farm to table restaurant nearby and I got a spinach, artichoke, and feta calzone. Oh. My. Gosh. 100% would get that again. Today will be off-plan. I worked well into the evening decorating so I can join friends for an event today. Heading out for my Saturday 7 miler soon.
Kathy, good luck to your boys at the tournament. I miss those long days spent in gymnasium bleachers. Re: boys keeping up their end, they are but not without complaint from one of them. That earned him a lecture in front of his girlfriend yesterday. Congratulations on 2 consecutive cycles!
Meg, yep, I would have also eaten the entire tart. It can be such a mind game, can’t it? Thinking about your husband cutting the potatoes and onions made me think about a meme I’ve seen where a wife asks her husband to peel half the potatoes. He peeled half of each potato. Funny but would be funnier if there wasn’t so much truth to it.
Lori, enjoying an event while keeping the rest of the day in check is key. Why didn’t I figure that out a long time ago?! Enjoy your Christmas activities today.

Lori - Were your coworkers aware that you were being careful with the food and drink or did you just act as if it were normal? Just curious. Also how much did you have to battle with yourself to avoid seconds? One way or another, you did great!
Kathy - I'm really glad you're not doing all the driving in one day. Even this way, it's a lot. Does Mom appreciate everything you do for her or just take it for granted?
Jan - It's so great when you eat something like the calzone when it's really worth it.

Happy Scale moving average: last Saturday 143.3 for the week, this Saturday 142.9 for the week. This week's trend was wierd considering how well I did and virtually the same regimen every day: 143.5/145.5/ started Sunday 144/142/141.5/141.5/143.5/143. It's as if the scale got bored with my new regimen. Maybe it will be happy when I go out for Friday's out-of-the-box luncheon.

Just got back from Christmas market....it was hard passing up all the goodies, they were everywhere you turned, but I did it knowing I had a delicious late lunch planned when I got home (veggie ricotta pita pizza...yum).
Nancy, they didn’t even notice...I really took my time eating what was on my plate and they pretty much finished everything before I was done with my one and only plate, which made it much easier for me....
Kathy, busy weekend for you. Enjoy the tournament and praying all goes well with your Mom. Safe travels!

Day 9 - late check in. I need to start planning a morning snack. I just can't go more than 3 hours without wanting to consume everything. I've made some adjustments/substitutions today but am on track.
Lori: Thanks so much for the recipe links!
Jan: Yeah, that meme is a little too close to the truth, heh.
Kathy: You sound like you're totally BAAAACK! Bless you as you drive and serve; enjoy those beautiful prairies.
All: All the talk about special events just leaves me kind of anxious. I am not where you guys are. It's really hard to think about going out to eat or to a special event with lots of goodies; I can't help but feel like, "I deserve to go crazy!" Something wrong with that mindset, you think? I will keep at it, one step at a time, hoping normalcy is the eventual result.
Peace.

Lori - It was a good idea to stretch it out so you didn't have to fact an empty plate. I still have the mentality to overdo it when I am in a social situation like that. It's probably ok though since those occasions are far and few between.
Meg - Yep I'm with you re special events. Yours, of course, are much more frequent than mine so probably worth effort to attempt normalization.
