Monday, monday!!!!
Gee Ruth, sounds strange when you say see you next week, which is indeed what we are doing. It kind of feels like next week is days away, but instead is just around the corner. Anyway, glad you found a recipe for cinnamon rolls that you like - and I figure Dh loves them also. I used to make them Christmas morning- would set the bread machine so the dough was ready at 5 am and then all I had to do was final assembly, rise and bake. They smell amazing!!! Glad you allowed yourself to enjoy part of one….

Hello Ginny - Thanks for sharing the picture of the antique quilts. I admire the skills of those quilters so much! Ruth - Hope you didn't get much snow. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's very mild here today - 68 degrees right now and a bit windy. We're supposed to get some rain tonight and then tomorrow it's going to be in the 40s. I actually worked on some quilting today. The next block for the Happy Everything quilt along was released today and it's an applique block. I love the look of applique, but as I'm sure I've said here many times - I don't like doing it. So I'm creating my own version of the block just using patchwork. I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along, I just want to add a bit of embroidery to it. This quilt along doesn't finish until February, but I'll be glad when the other one finishes this week. I have a bunch of projects all laying around and it's starting to bug me I would love to work on a Christmas project so maybe I can after I finish the 2 Fall Frolic quilts this week. There is a quilt blog hop this week that is a Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange - so most of the posters are sharing cookie recipes. Here's a link to a blog where she lists all the bloggers who are posting each day. I clicked on each of the 9 blogs for today and about 7 of them had cookie recipes. So I hope you might enjoy checking them out too. I can repost the link each day if you need me to: cathiescraftworks.blogspot.com/2021/12/santa.html - scroll down Take care everyone

CJ, thank you for that link. Those oatmeal gingersnaps sound really good. I have to think about making some. My dh likes oatmeal cookies and gingersnaps so I'd bet he'd like these. Also, have you ever seen her share crochet patterns on there? I'd love to have her pattern for that baby elephant baby blanket. Her other projects are great too. Yes sometimes we just want our current project to be done so we can go on to something else. I hope you can do that so you can get to that Christmas project you mentioned.
This hat is taking a lot of time. Not only do you have a long row of those various stitches but with the 16 slip stitches at the end you have to do the 16, repeat doing the 16 again coming back up the row, then do the same 16 over again and again back up so four times before being able to work the rest of each row.

CJ- think that is so awesome that you are able to replace that applique using patchwork. Like you, Applique is just not my cup of tea…however the idea of replacing it with patchwork is so nice. BTW- my quilting guru- who takes on difficult projects with grace and style also is not a big fan of applique. So we are not alone. Glad you got some quilting time in and will check out the cookie blog tomorrow.
Ruth- those crochet rows sound long and complicated. Are you happy with how it looks? This is the hat for Dh, right?
So todays crafting was giving the prairie point ornaments to Dd and making Rice Krispie snowmen with DGD. She seemed much more interested in eating the snowmen than making them.
I hope to make at least another ornament or two before I start making them for myself.. Looking forward to checking out that cookie link later on. Ginny

Yes there's no reason not to adjust a pattern if you don't care for a feature in it and I know CJ is talented enough to replace a block or part of a block to make it to her taste.
Well like CJ said about her weather, ours is on a roller coaster this week too. It's much warmer today and will be up and down all week with one day's high being only 25. Most of the snow we got yesterday is melted
I worked on a new and faster hat last evening but didn't quite get it completed. Dh woke up so I had to quickly set it aside since it's for him for Christmas. I have a couple others I'm going to make too but I really want to get that more complicated one done because I think it's going to be a better fit.I'll work on it now. DD and dgs were maybe going to stop by today but it looks like it won't be today. They just need to pick up something and I'm all for a lot of "somethings" being gone. It's interesting how at a certain age you begin to start getting rid of things esp those that you haven't used in years

Don’t blame you Ruth!!! After years….it does seem silly to have stuff around your house if no one is using or will use it. Hope you can re- home those items to DD and DGS.
Busy day…no crafting…..see ya tomorrow G

Yes and I have a lot of things that need to go live somewhere else.I already have about six bags in my car to take to GW or the rescue mission's store.
We're having the last of our warmer days.then next week it warms up yet again but today the wind is really, really bad. I'm sure that if someone measured right here they would find that it's hurricane strength wind.
I started a third hat for dh last evening. Now to get these three done and I'll go on to another. I have at least two more I want to make then he can have his choice of any or all and the rest will go somewhere else.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello I saw another fudge recipe that I thought you might want to see, since we had been talking about fudge. This one looks easy and I could even half the recipe which would be nice. And I was wondering if I could add some marshmallow cream to it too. Quick Tips: Easy Fudge Recipe! I've been making this fudge recipe for years, and I always get compliments on it. I giggle since it's SO easy to make! Ingredients: • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips • 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk • 1 tsp vanilla extract • Pinch of salt Prepare a 9x9 inch pan (glass or metal) by lining it with wax paper. Allow the wax paper to overhang the sides. This will allow you to get the fudge out of the pan easily. In a large heavy saucepan on low heat, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and the pinch of salt. Stir until everything melts together and is smooth. Take the saucepan off the heat and add the vanilla extract. Stir to combine. Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and use a spatula to spread it evenly throughout the pan. Refrigerate until firm, about 2-3 hours. Take the fudge out of the pan by lifting the wax paper up. Set the fudge (it should be a block) on a cutting board, peel off the wax paper and, using a sharp knife, cut the fudge into small squares. *You can store the fudge at room temperature or in the refrigerator.* Enjoy!! Hope everyone is doing well today. The weather here has been colder but no rain/snow. I went out and bought some groceries yesterday and put gas in the car. There weren't a lot of people shopping and I found most of what I was looking for. I'll only need a few more things before Christmas. I was telling someone that I missed seeing some of the usual holiday food delays in the grocery store. It always used to be fun going in the store and seeing all those things displayed together. I have that one quilt block ready to add the embroidery to, and hope to get it done soon. And the new (last) block for the Fall Frolic came out today, so I need to get those fabrics cut so I can put the 2 blocks together. I didn't get to it today, but hopefully I'll get them done in the next few days. Hope you all get to do some crafting too Take care!

CJ- thanks for the second fudge recipe. I would think that you can make peanut butter fudge or perhaps a vanilla fudge by changing the chips used- either peanut butter chips or white chocolate chips. And lets be honest- any recipe made with sweetened condensed milk is good right? As a matter of fact I went to the store this am and did buy 2 cans of it- it is so useful for many quick and delicious deserts/candies. Thanks for the cookie blog recipes. Are you planning on making any of them? Glad you got your shopping done and that the store was not too crazy . Are you happy to see the fall frolic draw to a close? Hope you are able to cut the last of the fabrics for the quilt- it’s sort of like saying goodbye to an old friend- the end of working with certain fabrics.
Ruth- great progress on hats for Dh- are all your hats different patterns? Glad you were able to get together 6 bags of items to donate. Are you able to see a nice dent in your garage or whatever area you were cleaning out? (Such a nice feeling of satisfaction from that!). Stay safe with those high winds! That can surely make a mess of everything outside and will hopefully not leave too much disturbed by the winds.
Slept in late (well a little bit) today. Had a nice morning with Ds - not a lot of time with him but he did come up to chat for awhile. (I was gone for a long time yesterday). He goes back to work tomorrow ,so it was nice to see him. I still have to go through some stuff here and decide to keep or donate. I did get a nice walk in today with my friend and got to the store. Unfortunately my local food store was pretty wiped out on cat food. I have some here but do not like to run low, especially with winter weather coming. Dd and DGS came over for dinner..so I had no time to craft today. I did make plans to head to the quilt shop with Jane, I do not need anything but have a coupon for $10 in free stuff so I would like to use that before it expires. Gotta start thinking about what I will keep busy with next year. Think I will probably make another ornament or two, and then put the Christmas fabric away. Another folded ornament was suggested for me, and I might try out one of them before I move onto another project.
Have a good evening!!! Ginny And when I get more time I will post those pics of the quilt show.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope you can find the cat food you need and that you get to buy something fun/nice at the quilt shop. I didn't see any cookie recipe that I really liked, but I'm a pretty basic cookie person. I prefer Chocolate Chip Cookies or Oatmeal Scotchies - those are the ones I always used to make at Christmas. I finished the Happy Everything block and the Fall Frolic blocks. I also put both of the Fall Frolic tops together, but I think I'll add some borders to one of them and show you that one later. The one I'm posting a picture of I'd planned to add a small cream inner border and a larger black outer border (using the fabrics from the quilt top), but now I'm not sure. The top looks good like this and I wonder if the borders will overwhelm it? I have a slight migraine this afternoon, so I won't be doing anymore quilting today, just hope it will go away after I took some medication. Hope you all get to do some crafting today too. Take care!

Good morning, CJ- Gee you have been busy!!! First off, I hope that you got to the migraine fast enough with pain relief and nipped it in the bud. I am hoping that you were able to stop it and that it does not return today. Again, thanks for the cookie links….i have not had a chance to visit them yet, perhaps tonight I will be able to. The happy everything block is adorable and it is amazing that you are able to make these beautiful blocks with fabrics you have in the house. (Can I come live in your fabric room?). And the fall frolic quilt top?? Wow…..its so impressive both your quilting work and fabric selection. IMO a border takes an absolutely gorgeous block and just sets it apart even more. I know you mentioned possibly two borders- with all the black fabric, I would finish with a black border . Its absolutely not needed to put a border on that, but if you did, the black would frame it nicely.
Ruth, hope you are ok…it was a strange day indeed that both of us did not make it here.
Phyl and Sue- thinking about both of you and hope to see you here.
Worked a lot yesterday, and well because it was cold, I was given 4 trainees to work with. Darned near impossible….working again today - they will be surprised to hear how little I will be working for the rest of the year because of the work to be done at my house.
My Ds told me last night that its looking very likely that he is going to move out in about 2 months. Oh, its sad for me….. 2 1/2 years ago I lived with 3 other people and will be living by myself in a few months. I know its better for him and some of his rationale is because he will most likely be bumped to the 3-11 shift thanks to prison closures in the state. Where he is considering going to is much closer to work and its a better situation for him. I have been blessed to have him here for as long as he has been and am thankful for that.
I am heading to the quilt shop with Jane….who knows what I will find when I get there. Ha ha ha
See ya later. Happy Friday! Ginny
