CJ, I went to the video and saw her show your quilt top. Yes that is definitely a serious honor. It's so great when an expert picks yours to be one of the ones featured and in your case she showed your's first!! There's proof that you are a great quilter! I'm glad you were able to get your eye exam done and didn't even have to buy glasses. Yes I'm surprised too. Every time I go they say my vision really hasn't changed yet they still give me a new prescription. I'll be going in January and to me, my vision has changed a lot so we'll see. It's good to that you were able to go to some grocery stores you don't usually have a chance to go to. I love going in grocery stores in new places. When we used to travel to Arkansas I used to stop in towns and look in their grocery stores.
Well it's actually pretty warm here today for here anyway and in winter. Still the wind is blowing just not as bad as some days.
I hope you all are ;having a good day.I'm making more cinnamon rolls

Thanks Ruth I love to go in grocery stores when I'm travelling too, I like getting to see what different foods they have in different areas. I bet your husband is enjoying all the baked goods. I saw this recipe for Orange Cookies and thought I'd share it with you. I don't plan to make these, but they do sound good. I've never made a cookie that had sour cream in it. alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2021/12/orange-cookies-recipe.html

CJ- that is absolutely awesome that Pat Sloan used your quilt in her presentation!!!! (We told you it was an awesome quilt!!!). I will check out the whole video later on, but wanted to tell you how great it is that your quilt is included in her video. Congrats on the good eye exam and not needing new glasses.
Ruth, glad to hear that you have figured out how to make those baby doll clothes for DGD. Bet you are relieved that everything is all packed up and ready to be taken to the great grandkids. Nice to have it all packed up and ready to go. Hope that you can get over the mental hurdle to make DGS’s blanket. Think we all have that happen from time to time, and sometimes its just best to walk away from the project for awhile and come back later.
They are coming tomorrow to remove the oversized dehumidifier. I need a dehumidifier there but the ones they are offering me are so pricey. Think the doctors visit went ok and I got the script I need for my next mammogram.
Hope everyone has a great evening Ginny

I talked to dd today on messages so it's settled that we won't be going over there for Christmas. One of her daughters works at a convenience store right off the interstate so comes in contact with a lot of people. Her oldest daughter also works in a place where she has a lot of contact just not quite as much as the other daughter. One that family will be over some time to pick up the gifts or we'll drop them off when we go to that part of town next.
Ginny, I'm glad that your doctor visit went well and will be praying for good results on the mammo and I'm confident that they will be.
I'm back on track with the afgan for dgs. I haven't started any doll clothes yet but was tempted to do so. Now though I'm back in the "winter quarters" and all the yarn I plan to use for that purpose is upstairs so I'll just work on the afgan.
Have a great evening...on and I'll check on that recipe for the cookies. Thanks CJ

My experience with cookies with sour cream is that they are very tender- almost cake like. I have an amish chocolate chip cookie recipe that calls for sour cream- I enjoy them but Dh liked a more crunchy cookie.
I think cataracts can impact your prescription- but I am absolutely no expert there.
I go to get my oil changed this am….and will go into the food store to get a few last minute items while waiting.(its a short walk).
See ya later!!!

I don't think i've ever made cookies that called for sour cream. I like my cookies to be fairly soft but not cake soft. Firm is probably a more accurate term. I don't like them crkispy.
Ginny, the dealer I go to for oil changes used to offer a loaner car to use while waiting. I took them up on that a couple years ago in pp time(pre pandemic) and went to shop at Hobby Lobby. They had a clearance sale so I came back with a huge bag of yarn. Now I just sit in their waiting area and crochet.
Not much on the agenda for today. I do have to wrap the few things I got for dh and the hats I made him but everying else is taken care of as far as Christmas goes.
One of the things that the dgds showed me that they wouold like me to make was those diaper cover sets. I found the cutest pattern for a diaper cover and made that last evening except for the edging around the legs which I'll do today. I also worked on dgs' afgan which is coming along nicely.

Hello Ginny - Hope the oil change went well and that they were able to change the dehumidifier today. Were there a lot of people in the store? There were a lot in the 2 stores I went in yesterday. Ruth - I'm glad you have everything ready for Christmas, hope you can enjoy the next few days. Sounds like your projects are going well too. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I went to my brother's house this morning to drop off cards/gifts for his family. Since he is the only one local, I like to take his to him instead of mailing. He'll have some of his children and grandchildren over tomorrow for a get together and I left their cards/gifts for them too. I just give cash to everyone now, it's much easier. I knew I wouldn't get any quilting done yesterday or today, just going out and socializing/being around people is about all I can take I do hope to get some work done on that last Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt and I would like to get back to that one I was working on several weeks ago and had to put aside. I received an email from one of my local quilt shops and the owner has decided to close her physical shop and just have an online shop. But she has several longarm machines and she is setting them up in her house and will be offering classes and longarm rental by appointment - and she will continue to longarm quilts too. She's done a few for me over the years. She is having a big sale on fabric through the end of next week, so she doesn't have to take all of it with her. I think I might try to go by there next week and pick up some fabric. She always had a selection of fabric that I like - more traditional/regular rather than some of the modern styles. I'm kind of excited about her longarm business. I took a class from her several years to learn to use the longarm but I would take another class and then maybe rent her longarm and could get some of my tops quilted. And maybe I'll take some tops to her and get her to do them, since there are several I'd really like an all over design done on them. So maybe next year I can get most of my tops quilted, that would be really nice. Take care everyone

Well Ginny, it's late in the day where you are so I hope you had a very Happy Birthday!!! Did you do anything special to celebrate? I hope you did even if you just bought yourself a nice treat to eat or a gift of something you'be been wanting for awhile.

Yes it was a very busy day….and while I saw all 3 of my kids, it was all stretched out over the day. And Jane stopped by. Dd #1 stayed the longest and we made out “annual” gingerbread house and had chinese food for lunch. It was not a fussy day, but I am indeed blessed.
Want to get a walk in so I will stop back in later to respond to posts. Ginny

Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas to you all and to those that are reading.
Wind is terrible today and some parts of the interstates are closed because of it stranding a lot of poor people who won't end up getting home for Christmas.
Last evening I made a couple really awesome diaper cover sets for the grandaughters. I can't believe how nice they turned out. I didn't work on dgs' afgan like I had planned but instead looked up some more doll clothing patterns. I'll work on his afgan today.I usually don't work on two projects at once but I think that maybe it will be nice having something small to work on between bouts of working on blankets.

Let’s see if i can make some sense here as my IPad seems to have a mind of its own today.
Ruth, its you will be well practiced at cabbage patch doll clothes (they still make them?)! Have fun with that, I am sure there are lots of projects and patterns for dolls those size. Its awesome that you still have DD’s dolls, which I figure must be in wonderful shape. What pattern are you using for the afghan for DGS?? Its nice to have a smaller project to alternate with larger projects for when you grow tired of the weight of an afghan. In cooler weather - like now- the weight of an afghan is a comforting thing however. When Ds came home from work and sat to chat with me, I was happy I had a ripple afghan I made many years ago to throw over my legs. Sorry to hear about high winds in your area, which means no use of your wood burner either. I feel bad for those folks who are trying to get to see family and are stuck. Heard on the news that two major airlines cancelled flights because of covid staffing problems. Sad…. Gee a diaper cover sounds like a really nice item to make. Are they made to go over disposable diapers? Think its a smart move to keep your distance from family for now, as it sounds like they are in jobs with a lot of exposure. I do hear that the latest variant is really not a big deal for most people, just like a cold.
CJ- I am so very happy that you got to see your brother yesterday!!! There is nothing like being able to see family who are close to you, and your family has been through a lot recently. Even if it was a brief visit, I bet it felt good to do something normal. I hope that they have a safe get together tomorrow, and know that the kids and grandkids will be thankful that their Aunt or great Aunt CJ thought about them and remembered them at Christmas. Well its unfortunate that the quilt shop is closing, but very exciting that you can make this work for you!! We have heard you chat about wanting to use a long arm or getting a long arm service for some of your beautiful quilt tops. With the service being in her home, well there would be less interaction with others, should you chose to long arm yourself, or just nice to deal with the shop owner on a smaller basis. Hope you can catch an awesome sale on fabric as she downsizes her stock!! It sure is exciting news for you and a situation that almost sounds perfect for what you want to do. I am truly happy for you.
So, went for a walk today, and ran out very early to tractor supply to get one last gift for Dgs#2. As far as getting my oil oil changed, I live in a small town….and yes they would have given me a loaner. It just made more sense for me to walk the short distance to the food store and walk back. Then I sat in the waiting room - not terribly long- and waited for my car. They have a hot cocoa stand set up in the dealership….and an absolutely mellow cat that lives in the dealership. The cat reminds me of my cat, but the dealership one is a few years older. Pretty funny to see a cat sleeping on the couch in the waiting room. I have church this evening….and then a quiet Christmas Eve. Very thankful that Ds did not get stuck to work a double today, which he was afraid might happen. Not sure what I will work on when I get home. I cleaned a lot today and got ready for dinner tomorrow. I have my crewel kit out, which I took with me to the car dealership. Never got to work on that because they finished the car quickly.
Wishing each of you a peaceful Christmas Eve and a blessed Christmas to those who are checking in.
Phyl and Sue, hope you are both safe and well.
Ginny

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all. Wishing you a wonderful day Hope you get to spend time with family, or talk with them, and that you treat yourself to something special today. It's in the 60s and sunny here, so a nice day. I finished up the last quilt top from those blocks I've been making all year for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I ended up not using the Crayola fabric and just used white sashing strips and a multi-colored fabric for the outer border and I'm happy with how it turned out. I'm trying to tell myself not to do the Rainbow Scrap Challenge next year, but I've already been thinking of a few quilts I'd like to make by doing blocks each month, week or even each day We'll see how that all turns out. I'm hoping to go through my quilt tops and organize them into a pile that I can machine quilt myself and a pile I'd like to have someone else quilt for me. That will give me a good idea of what I need to plan to work on next year. Take care everyone
