WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C78D5, 5 water, 34 points, all ghgs except short on f&vโs, 6500 fitbit steps (all collateral), 1226 calories, 2 binges April --- another month hits the dust!!
Edesia โ Moderation is the name of the game IMO. Itโs the only way we can do this over the long run. I still struggle with the on again off again mentality but never stop trying.
Kathy โ My heart breaks to think of you crying so hard at the meeting. Hope it serves as an alert to slow down when and wherever possible. Youโll be no good to those kids with a nervous breakdown or worse. Yes I did reset but as it turns out the binge was the day after starting a new cycle.
Beth โ So youโll sit with the person that takes the ticket. So you wonโt be alone after all and knowing you, youโll probably make a new friend. Anxious to hear how it all turns out.
Cindy โ So you have two choices โ Use DGS leaving as an excuse to pig out and then feel doubly bad when he leaves, or eat extra healthily and carefully now and feel stronger than ever and proud of yourself when he leaves. I vote for the second choice, how about you??
Louise โ Welcome back. Those projects are always easier with help or even just company. Hope you can get back to journaling. For me it makes a big difference.

C31. D2. Tracking everything! Exercise. I had 41 points yesterday, but earned 10 APs with a couple hours of walking, stretching, and chasing cows. So I am not going to beat myself up about not achieving my WW Blue Dot. Today is my twin boy's b-day - they turn 13. They are fine young guys, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE having 'little kids.' One is a true teenager and one is still a little kid in heart and action. It does go so fast!
Nancy - Let's make May a good, healthy month with no binges!! Thanks for the caring words - I'm the kind who cries at movies, at happy moments, etc... But the crying at work was pure overwhelming stress. That is why I am trying to figure out what "radical self care" means for me. For example, I woke up early this morning and would have started working - even on a Sunday morning. You know, just a little catch up to make the coming week easier. But I said "NO! Work does not get all my attention." And did not look at emails or to-do lists for work. I made cinnamon rolls for the boy's B-day breakfast and started cooking their B-day dinner - they want a taco bar. Luckily, that is an easy meal to eat healthy. Lots of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and salsa - with a little meat and cheese. Though we have a lettuce shortage and even many stores are not stocking due to shortages.
Beth - your meal plan for the week sounds wonderful. I'm so making that pinto bean dish that you described. Soaking the beans right now. We are growing certified organic black beans on our farm this year. It's a risk, since the organic beans are really wimpy and can't out compete weeds - which are hard to manage in organic farming systems. We'll either do well or get completely skunked and lose the crop. Wish us luck!
Cindy - hang in there. Keep walking on that treadmill! I know it is so hard - just coming off of two weeks of emotional eating too. I tell myself that 'food didn't created this situation and food won't fix it.'
Louise - good that you and DM got out. Antiquing can be fun. Doesn't it feel great to get rid of all that expired food? Since I have a family of five, I sometimes prioritize the use of the slightly expired food. Like I had a couple cans of salmon that had recently expired and used them to make a salmon loaf. My family actually loves salmon loaf and I felt so virtuous for not wasting food :-)
**All - we are having a serious shortage of greens/lettuce in the stores in our region of the country. It might just be the supply trucks run out before they reach small towns on the northern prairie. Some stores have quit selling lettuce, cauliflower and brocolli altogether. I bought one really low quality (part rotten) head of Romaine for $4.60 yesterday! But the nettles (sting weed/burn weed) are coming up - but they cannot be eaten raw and have to be harvested with gloves :-) I've made two meals with nettles - in my spaghetti sauce and a chicken noodle soup. I also use the nettles in lamb vindaloo recipe I make.
Meg, Jan, Jane, EDESIA, Lori and all who follow - have a great day!
Kathy

WW update. You know - I was thinking about the 41 points I ate yesterday and the 42 points I have planned for today (DQ ice cream B-day cake) and I realized that this exactly what the weekly points are for. I will still have lots of weeklies left after this weekend and days like this are exactly what those weeklies are for.
Not sure how many of us are doing WW program, but wanted to share this way of looking at my increased weekend eating AND staying On Plan!

FIF 5/6 Cals 5/6 Good morning.... I enjoyed some treats yesterday. I feel like I got it out of my system and should have no trouble getting back on track today. Edesia, I hope you were able to enjoy some down time yesterday. Nancy, nice job on the calories yesterday. I'm sorry about your night binge, but you got right back on plan. It seemed small in comparison to your binges several years ago. Progress! Kathy, I'm so happy to hear of your self care this morning. Will you be able to sneak away for a walk today? Even 20 minutes will be good for your state of mind. Happy birthday to your boys! Your lettuce shortage astounds me. Have you ever thought about a Juice Plus tower? I have a friend who sells that line and she has fresh greens all winter long. www.towergarden.com/?gclid=CN2Gw8-VzNMCFYG4wAods9YKVQYes, some of these policy changes are downright scary. I have a friend from high school who is marching in protests almost every weekend, some in DC and some in her hometown of Rochester, NY.

YES Kathy...that IS what the weekly points are for. YOU ARE ON PLAN.
The concert was wonderful last night. The person who used the ticket i left at the front came over and introduced to himself to me and he & his friend sat with me. It was at a UU church so it was pews we were sitting in. No one is REALLY alone when the seating is that way.
Unfortunately i hit a curb in the dark leaving the parking lot and had to call AAA. Gratefully, they arrived in less than an hour and i was on my way home, just 20 minutes away. Now i need to schedule an appointment at the dealership to have the tire repaired (if possible), get the rim checked out and make sure i didn't do any damage to the suspension!
When i called my folks this morning to tell them i couldn't come for my visit this afternoon due to the "fake" tire (the spare) that's on there...my dad offered to come pick me up! Mom is really sad, struggling with a slow recovery from her fall a few weeks ago and, i think, still dealing with the grief of her best friend's death last month. She & dad both want me to come to "cheer her up". So....dad's driving the 50 minutes out here to get me! I'm glad...i feel helpless enough as it is so if i can bring a bit of cheer and distraction to her long days, I'm grateful. Plus...i get the car ride to visit with my dad, and that's a good thing.
talk to y'all tomorrow!
