There is some good stuff available to see on TV and in the theaters! I watched THE LOST DAUGHTER, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and based on Elena Ferrante's novel. Loved it. It stars Olivia Colman, always good, but in what I think is her best performance yet as Leda, an academic 48-year-old who felt stifled by her marriage and responsibilities toward their two young daughter. There are flashbacks in which the younger Leda is played by Jessie Buckley. Another excellent performance. It is a complicated story which I think did justice to the novel. Kudos to first-time director Maggie Gyllenhaal!

Connie, you don't need to order a DVD. It is on the Netflix Channel.

We watched The Tender Bar last night on Amazon Prime and it is a truly wonderful film about a single mom, her son, and their extended family. I can't imagine anyone not loving this film

OMG, has anyone been watching the miniseries STAY CLOSE on Netflix? It is based upon a book by Harlan Coben. Everyone has secrets from the past and there have been murders over the years on around the same date. It has captured my interest for sure.

Gail, I just started watching today after seeing your post about it. OMG...it is so good! I have watched the first 4 episodes. Now I need to get outside and take a walk. Thanks for the recommendation. t

I have read that book STAY CLOSE. I have read a number of Coben's books...not this one. I might go back and read it when I am done. THE TENDER BAR sounds good, Ann. Once I finish STAY CLOSE, it is the first thing I will watch. Thank you.

DH is watching DON'T LOOK UP right now (on NetFlix). A number of folks on the GDT (the other proboard spin off from the old WW message boards) have liked it.
I enjoyed the second EMILY IN PARIS episode. At the risk of making Mr. Lani sound homophobic, he said it had gotten "too gay". Then yesterday a British reporter who was visiting GMA (Good Morning America) and who happens to be gay, commented on EIP complaining about a character (I believe it's the black gay guy who works with Emily) saying every time he appears on screen he looks like he's having a medical emergency. So even gay people think it's over the top.
Anyway, Mr. Lani is also back on board with the show. I heard today that it has been renewed for 2 additional seasons after this one (for a total of 4 so far).
DH is calling me to come and watch DON'T LOOK UP, so I guess he likes it.

Ruth, I totally did not expect the final twist in STAY CLOSE. We were led to believe it was another character, but Megan thought out that character's part for us at the end. I was thinking it was Dave because he threw one car into the water. DON'T LOOK UP packs quite a wallop about the way many people ignore the dangers of climate change, not conserving water, not getting vaccines, etc. Things that could affect the whole planet. I finished EMILY IN PARIS. I enjoyed the clothes, the sights, and some of the plots. Emily's effervescence is adorable. Good to see ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL again. I missed those characters.

We have been watching a fun series on Prime, Vintage Roads, Great and Small. The men who played Tristan and James on the original All Creatures Great and Small go on road trips in vintage cars. The scenery is beautiful, their banter is delightful and the cars are something else! Dh really enjoys this series.
I finished Big Little Lies. I thought the acting was amazing. Meryl Streep, as the grandmother, was wonderful. Great series, pute soap opera, but it was a good escape while I worked on one of my GD's big yarn blanket that she asked for at the beginning of covid. The yarn finally came into stock in July!!!!
