WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C78D6, 8 water, 30 points, all ghgs except only 1 dairy and no whole grains, 1418 calories, no exercise, 2 binges April.
My niece, her husband and 11 year old son came to visit. It turned out to be a really lovely few hours. Tomorrow (Monday) Iโm off to NYC to lunch with my high school friend from London. Itโs always a delightful visit but will involve an isolated meal. I will surround it with green โ thanks, Lori.
Kathy โ Happy belated birthday to the twins. Be grateful you didnโt have to plan a bar mitzvah <g>. Hmmm, my romaine lettuce was way overpriced this weekend. I wonder if itโs related to your lettuce shortage. OK โ absolutely no binges in May. Itโs a deal. Letโs keep reminding each other.
Jan โ 5/6 ainโt bad. Give yourself credit.
Beth โ I knew youโd make a friend. Sorry about the little accident, but how sweet of your Dad to pick you up. And I know what you mean about the time together in the car. Those are always precious moments. He had to drive you home too, right?
I can't believe it's May already. Where does the time go?

FIF 6/7 Cals 6/7
I'm up early-7:45 client and I want to get a run in beforehand. I'm hoping I avoid the rain; I'm actually glad I'm doing it so early. It looks like solid rain after 7:00.
Yesterday was beautiful, in the 80's with some sun. It wasn't at all what they forecasted. I got 7.3 miles in before it got too hot, then did yard work and put some laundry on the line. It's my first of the season. It's one of my favorite summer things to do.
Nancy, I agree, May already??! Have a wonderful visit in the city.

C31. D2. Yesterday was a happy, lazy Sunday. I did not do as well as I would have like, point wise, and didn't exercise. But am going to isolate one snack and move on. Today is May 1 - a new day.
Jan - Wonderful that you fit in a run before meeting your client. We're having snow/rain and 20mph winds, which means I'll be on the exercise bike. You are so right about a 20 minute walk being better than a 0 minute walk. Not just for exercise, but for mental healthy. Unfortunately, I didn't get it in. But I did take a nap. So maybe needed the rest.
Nancy - Yes! A new day, a new month and we can do this together. What a good way to go into summer! Enjoy your visit with you HS friend and how nice that your niece and family could come to visit you.
Beth - sorry to hear about the car meeting the curb. Nice that your dad could come and pick you up for a visit. That is just great.
EDESIA- hope you had a good, restorative weekend. I pulled out my W30 cookbook while cleaning and remember a couple recipes that my family really loved.
Jane- hope the trip is going well and that you are enjoying delicious, healthy food in moderation :-)
Lori - hope you had an easy, green weekend.
Cindy - Back on the beam? Want to join Nancy and me in a binge-free May. It's day one - a fresh, fresh start. The weather is cold, rain and snow and wind, so I will be on the exercise bike. Maybe just 20 minutes, like Jan suggests (my mom is still staying with us for the birthday celebration of my twins).
Louise - hope you had a nice weekend. I love the hymns we sing this time in the church year - so I enjoyed lots of alleluia songs in church yesterday.
My very best to all of you! Thanks for all the care and support on this journey.
Kathy

Happy May 1st!
Had a nice visit with mom yesterday...We love to watch baseball together and she gets the MLB network so even though our boys weren't playing until night time we still had a game to watch...we watched Edesia's boys!
Dad is hooked on a tropical fruit he discovered called Jack Fruit. He gave me a piece and I didn't like it at ALL! it's pretty rare for me to run into a fruit or veggie that I dislike. Any of you ever tried jack fruit?
dropping my car of after work today and they're going to give me a loaner so they can work on it tomorrow. They're very good about that...it's why I still hold out and take the car back to the dealer for service. I've got an over 10 year relationship with one particular service manager there and he takes good care of me.
have a great day!

Good Morning BFFs, Happy May!!
The weekend went well. I was happy with my food choices and stayed in control!! I posted my April weigh in - very happy I was free and close to my personal goal...Aiming to be back at my personal goal before traveling to Texas on May 19th...
Nancy, enjoy your luncheon!! I'm finding I ask myself - will I be able to stay in control if I have..... When the answer is no and I really want it - that's when I take a piece home and have it later that night. So far, that has been working for me. Beth, Sounds like a wonderful visit with your parents (sorry about the car)...I never heard of jack fruit... Kathy, I think you needed and deserved a lazy Sunday!! Happy Belated Birthday to the twins!! If only we could slow down time.... Jan, Wow - a run before meeting client - that's awesome! I'm happy when I get a mile on the treadmill before work...
Hi to All!! Hope everyone has a Great start to May!!

Afternoon, BFF's! The weekend was pretty relaxing and I caught up on some much needed sleep. Eating was meh...too much between meal snacking, especially on Saturday while watching the ballgame. I didn't do much on Saturday other than food shopping, but caught up on cooking and other house stuff on Sunday. One of the things I tried was making a batch of amaranth (a grain) that I thought I'd substitute for quinoa. I never made it before and the box has been sitting in my pantry for awhile. It turned out more like porridge, instead of loose grains. I liked the taste and will figure out what to do with it (maybe slice, like polenta). I'll definitely get some more and experiment. I read that it can be popped, like popcorn. Have any of you ever made amaranth? Any recipes to suggest? Back to work now...TTYL

Beth - I have never tried jack fruit, but have seen it in the Asian markets. I've heard the smell can be off putting, but the taste is good. Sorry about your car, but glad you got to enjoy the game with your mom. Too bad the outcome was different than the previous, excellent games, but I'm guessing that may have made it all the more enjoyable for you both.
Kathy - I felt so bad hearing that you broke down at work. Karoshi is the Japanese term for compensable occupational illness caused by overwork. In addition to the self-care, I hope you and your boss can agree to some ways to reduce or adjust your workload. Happy belated birthday to your boys!
Nancy - Have fun with your friend. At least the weather is cooperating.
Lori - Congrats on the free WI. You always manage to work your way back to where you want to be.
Jan - That's a lot to accomplish so early in the morning.
Cindy - Have fun at the ballgame!
