Good evening!
CJ, sometimes taking a rest from crafting is a good thing. So glad you are enjoying hand quilting! Are you following any pattern or outlining the design?. Hand sewing is soooooo very relaxing. Enjoy the process! When you are on hold with Missouri quitling, you hear a taped message from Jenny Doan. She says there is no such thing as a perfect quilt! She is right...... Enjoy and I am sure your work is just beautiful. Wish I had seen that episode of house hunters, I watch that show a lot.
Hey, does anyone remember when HGTV had really good shows, like Matt and Shari (wish I could remember the name of the showI)......got it, it was called Room by Room. They used to have affordable dyi decorating, decorating for the real world, not the rich. I miss those shows.
Meg, how is your visit with Janet going?. Enjoy a quiet evening while Devin is not home. You do a lot of running around for him, but we know how much you love him. My DS has Netflix, and loves it. It's a great way to catch up on television series and movies.
Have a good evening! Ginny

hi crafters,oh yes we use to love to watch hgtv. back when they had some country music shows on with ralph emery. we use to love to watch mike homes also.he was another one who could basically go In and tear a bad house apart and make it look like new. I miss those shows. we hardly watch hgtv now.
been busy cleaning. wouldn't take so long except don and I have been going through some stuff.not together just stuff we have come across.
geeze I forgot to clean the bathroom. not going to do it tonight now.
I am washing the fabric from the day we went over to Marilyn's place. I didn't think I took as much fabric as I did. just had two store type plastic shopping bags full. guess they hold more then thought. think mary jo had about 4 bags. there is still fabric at Marilyn's. not sure what she will do with it.I don't think she will be able to quilt much longer. her eyes are not that good.
think I will work on the bb blanket tonight. probably haven't knitted for 2 weeks. phyl

Let's see if I remember what I wanted to say.
Ginny, that's where I did get the insecticide was from Amazon. I had to check the various sellers to get one that had free shipping with no parameters like you had to buy over $35 worth or whatever and the one I found for one of the ones I ordered was cheaper on the other seller too.
I'm glad you're done with the mil's house. maybe now that she's left on her own to finish up your sil will buckle down and get to work.
Meg,that's strange that that doctor prescribed eyedrops then called to tell you to stop using them and go backto the ones that didn't work for you.
I haven't watched HGTV in a long time. I don't know why exactly but, yes, they used to have some really good shows on there. One was called junque brothers. They would drive arounnd and find something someone put out for the trash, take it home, repurpose it then take it back to the person that had discarded it by just leaving it in the driveway and waiting in secret to see the person's reaction. There was also another redecorating show that was excellent that worked for people that don't have a fortune to use for that purpose.I think they had a limit of $200 or something like that. I do like House Hunters and International. I may have to start watching again since I have tv for another year and the programming is not good. There's not a very big selection of shows that I like. Some are really awful
Meg, I bet you miss the little guy when he's away for the weekend.
CJ, I know that quilt looks beautiful with the blue hand quilting.
Phyl, have a relaxing evening knitting the baby blanket.
Ginny, yes I think that's exactly what I'll do is make some things and find a good charity that needs items for a sale. My oldest dgd is involved with some charities so I'll ask her.
Now I'm going to go work on my crocheted shawl. I was working on i t but dh got up from his nap so I got sidetracked but he went back downstairs where it's cooler. And the reason that I hate for him to inhale dust is that he has copd.

Good morning!
Phyl, so glad you could check in! Aw the bathroom can wait another day to be cleaned. Housework is very patient, it always waits for you! A crafting break is a good thing to avoid burnout. When I usuallly hear of all the crafting you do, it makes my head spin. Your momentum will come back in due time.hope you can find a good place to donate the fabric. I have one friend who donates to the quilting guild, who can manage to find good use for any fabric. And I do love your avatar! The sound of a sewing machine is so soothing.
Ruth, totally understand how you feel about dust when Dh has COPD. My DSIL has it, and I see how it has impacted her life. Were you able to work on the crochetted shawl? I forget, who is the honored recipient of this shawl? Think that show was called Design on A Dime. HGTV used to have DOD and Room by Room along with another show on Tuesday evenings, which used to be my TV night. All 3 shows were do it yourself shows for real people , people in real houses not 4000 sq ft estates. I Laugh when I hear of these young couples on these shows that "need" quartz countertops, central air, 5 bedrooms, a screened in porch, $2000 washing machines etc.....they would die if they saw our first house, which was small, but comfortable and safe housing. The house we are in now is small by today's standards, but it's home. I put HGTV on because it is not offensive, but at times I tire of how they push a materialistic lifestyle.
In my spare time.....there is a charity that keeps the local arboreum going, and they have a Christmas craft sale. I could make some of those bowl holders, ( for the microwave) wh ich would use up some of my fabric. Will email them and see if they are interested.
Church was a blessing this am, and I got some more embroidery done.
Have a wonderful day. Ginny

hi, waiting for Sadie to come and move some of her stuff in. I don't have to look far if I want to give fabric away. we have two gals who are our charity gals. we give them the fabric and they make up the kits. then those of us who want to In the guild will sew them together. one of the gals dh loves to cut the fabric and make up the kits. she has to watch him or sometimes he cuts the wrong fabric that might be used for something else. sometimes when you give away something there comes a day when you wish you still had a little bit of that fabric. but then if it has been sitting around for a few years why hang onto it if you haven't used it. knitters and needlework crafters probably can agree with this.
ok here a few new abreations we use In quilting. all needlework crafters also.
ufo unfished projects.. wip works In progress.. this is a new one for me but cute. pigs projects In grocery bags.
I did clean the stool and the sink for today. In the am I will give the bathroom a better going over. phyl

Phyl, Projects in grocery bags! What a hoot! Yes, I am guilty, but I do try not to do that anymore. For me, it just increases the chaos. Nice that you have gals who make up kits. I ought to donate my extra fabric to the quilt guild, I have lots of extra fabric. Please forgive me, who is Sadie? I do try hard to figure out everyone......and do not always do well with just names. Hope her move goes quickly.
Dh and I got rid of my mother's dresser, it's bulk trash pick up time and they will take that. We moved a lot of stuff in yesterday from unloading MIL's house, so this is good to move stuff out. Look better already!
CJ, Ruth and Meg, hope each of you is having a nice Sunday. Ginny

Ginny, dh and I were talking about that just yesterday...the materialism on HGTV. The young people and also the elderly have to have five bedrooms, five or more baths...all the latest in appliances like stoves that you can cook for a family of 10 on. Even with more bathrooms than bedrooms they have to have a double sink in the master. I guess that they can't walk to one of the other bathrooms to brush their teeth.
Making those microwave bowl holders sounds like a great thing to do and the organization would be foolish not to take those for their sale. I'm sure they would be very sought after and they'd probably run out and need more.Makes me feel bad that I didn't order that batting that I had in my Amazon cart. It's one of those add on items that you have to have over $25 worth of Amazon fullfilled items in order to even buy it.
Phyl, one time I took a lot of my fabric to a Caps for Kids meeting which are held at the senior center. No one took much because most didn't sew so I asked if I could leve it there for the quilting group to take. I don't know what ever happened to the rest but I'd bet that some enjoyed it. I was talking to my dh this morning about all my fabric. He said that although I hadn't used it yet it doesn't mean I won't find uses for it now or in the future. of course hes a person that never wants to get rid of anything
Speaking of that, I'm glad you were able to dispose of your mil's things that no one wants such as the dresser. One of the ladies I know on another thread donates all those kind of things to a place called Restore. I guess they take all kinds of things and sell them to people to refinish and reuse.
Yes I was thinking that show had something about a dime in the title. I liked it and they had very good ideas. I'm not much of a decorator so I need all the help I can get.
Yes my first house was very small too but I often think of growing up with 8 in the family and having only one bathroom but I had a friend from high school that has 10 children..all grown now of course....and they had only one bathroom too.
PHyl, how nice that that man likes to make up kits. What goes in a kit? I have a problem picking fabric that goes together. My main problem is I always think that all the fabrics in a quilt have to match when in reality, it's like knitting or crocheting where when mixing colors sometimes a completely unexpected color give a really nice look.Looking at some of the squares that are on the sites that CJ posts for us I can see that other people think the same way I did and it makes sometimes for a very bland square or one that has no contrast at all when it should
I do have two projects in grocery bags but most are in other bags or bins but that sure is a cute acronym.
I got very little crocheting done last night. Got sucked into a game online where you have to slide little monsters down a snowbank or something. What a waste of time
Ok now I'm going to either go work on the craft room or crochet. I'll finish my coffee and decide. See you later.
Hello also to CJ and Meg

Hello Crafters – Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny – I’m glad things went well with your MIL’s house, sounds like it’s just about done now. The handquilting I’m doing on the mini-medallion is already pre-printed on the fabric, so all I have to do is quilt over the lines. Then they wash out later.
I loved Room by Room and Design on a Dime – also Simply Quilt – those were the good old day shows on HGTV.
I agree with those of you saying how materialistic these buyers are today. When I watch the house hunting shows I tended to mute the volume and just look at the houses I think it’s fun to figure out which one they’ll pick. I do like the shows like Beachfront Bargain Hunt, Lakefront Bargain Hunt, and Island Hunters – it’s fun to see the different location.
Ruth – Hope you are getting some crafting done today. Meg – I’m glad your weather is better and I hope the edging turns out alright.
Phyl – It’s fun to go through fabric we bring home, isn’t it? I hope you found some you can use.
I did get a little bit of quilting done today. I pieced together a small wallhanging (20x20) and a tablerunner (15x43). These were kits I bought at the recent quilt shows that had fabric and a pattern for a good price. One of the kits also had the fabric for the binding and the other kit had the fabric for the binding and the backing – and this one was a very good quality fabric.
I also finished Block 20 of the Solstice quilt and was happy with that one, it was the Xs and Ox block and it’s cute. I found a website that posted some pictures of finished quilt tops from the Snowy Day Quilt challenge that just finished up last week. I hadn’t been able to see anyone’s quilts while we were doing them because they wanted you to join a Facebook group to see them, and I don’t like to join groups like that. Here’s a link to some pictures, all very different:

Take care everyone!

Hello everyone, I had a lazy morning. This afternoon I made a quick stop at the store and then gott gas and now I am home. I haven't done any crafting since Friday. After DD went back to her care home yesterday I was too tired to crochet so I just spent the evening reading. The book I was reading is due back at the library tomorrow.
Ginny, I hope you were able to rest today and let go of your MIL. I haven't watched HGTV for ages. I used to watch a lot perhaps I should look it up again. I am sure they probably have some new shows since I last watched. It has been a quiet weekend but Devin will be home soon. I enjoy having some quiet time.
Ruth, has your DH managed to get rid of the ants yet? When we get them DS takes care of them and I haven't seen any for a long time. I think I would enjoy Netflix because I understand that they have a lot of British shows. My visit with Janet went very well yesterday. She was in a good mood and that always helps.
Re my eyes. the Dr. I saw last Sat. was a young Dr. on call and she prescribed eye drops with steroids. Then on Tue a nurse phoned me and told me to stop using the prescription drops. I think when the eye DR. check my record and saw what was prescribed she decided that was the wrong medication. Both Drs work in the eye clinic. I have an appt. next Thursday in the Retina dept so I will talk with the DR. about my eye allergies
Phyl, I hope you got your bathroom cleaned. No time for you in the play room until you get it cleaned. Oh that reminds me I should clean mine.
cj, Hi
Now I am going to read and perhaps do some crocheting this evening.

Good evening!
Now I should really be in bed, which I will be in about 15 minutes.
Meg, glad you had a lazy day.....and it's ok to take a few days off from crafting! You do get so much crafting time in normally. Between spending time with Janet and having to finish a book, of course you did not have time to read! Sounds like y ou finished the book, hope it was a good one!
CJ, I enjoyed looking at the snowy day quilts! How different everyone made their quilts, it was really neat to see the differences in how each person made their quilt. Thanks for sharing that with us. Glad you got some quilting done! I agree, the kits are nice, and make things easy to get started. Yes, Simply quilts was a great show (Alex Anderson, I think hosted it). What happened to these great shows? Yes, I like house hunters, flip or flop.....but the do it yourself shows inspired.
Ruth, thanks for the inspiration to make those bowl quilts. I will email the fund raisers at the arboreum. Glad you got some crochetting done! It's nice to know that I am not the only one who does not appreciate all the pricey shows on HGTV. They are fun to watch, just not realistic.
Phyl, I appreciate the clarification on who Sadie is. You are so sweet to take her in.
Ok, I actually got to play with fabric! I stabilized all the squares that I will use to make the last quilt from my mom's blouses. Think I will order 2 navy jelly rolls to use as borders for the 9 patch squares. It will be a colorful quilt.
Gotta get some sleep. Good night! Ginny
