Well I guess I didn't get in here yet today.
I hope both of you get warmer weather very soon and that you don't have snow and ice to worry about. Although it did cool down here it didn't get too awfully cold. It's a good idea to stay home and enjoy the warmth. Ginny, it doesn't sound like you're being very lazy. I guess compared to some of the much busier days it may seem like it to you. YOu do manage to keep busy
CJ, I especially like that heart block. I love the fabric with the little lighthouses in it. It made a great heart block I still didn't see the mistake so I may have to enlarge my screen just because now I'm nosey.
I did the usual household chores and then my crafting involved looking through my three on computer folders for hat patterns. I sure have a lot.I weeded some out and there were some that the site or blog I got them from is no longer in existence so I deleted the names for those my my list since I can no longer access then
I hope you all will have a good night's sleep and awaken feeling rested.

Good morning all, Ruth, guess its a good thing that you went through all those hat patterns. It must have been a lot of work searching for each, and then having to delete those no longer available on the web anymore. I hope that you found lots of good new patterns and did not have to remove a favorite from your list. And like you, I had to look hard for the “problem” with CJ’s block. Yes she did a great job.
Slept pretty well last night, which I am very very thankful for. Think here in my area I have another week of these cold temps. Just have to hope that my heater holds up and that the new heater goes in next week.
See ya later! Stay warm Ginny

Good afternoon everyone. We got a surprise when we woke today. Probably about 4 inches of snow. I don't think that was in the forecast. It's not all that cold though. The snow was deep enough that the plows could come and plow it.Waste of money in my opinion because it was not enough snow that people couldn't drive through it easily but those are the HOA's rules. They can plow when it's over 2 inches.
I didn't end up even picking up a crochet hook yesterday. Luckily, as far as I could see, there were none of those patterns that were my favorites. It's hard to tell though because they have to be opened and if they're gone you can't see what they were. Never the less I have more than enough patterns left to last a couple lifetimes.
What are you ladies up to today. I biet CJ will be looking at some more fabric envisioning how it will play together nicely. Ginny are you babysitting those beautiful grandchildren again?

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you slept better. I hope your heater does hold up for this cold weather until you get the new heater. Ruth - I'm glad you didn't get too much snow. It was very cold here today, only in the low 20s, hopefully it will be warmer this weekend. I worked on the X and O quilt today and ended up making a small wallhanging with just 4 blocks. I'm pretty happy with it because I was able to use 2 fat quarters that I'd had for a long time. I'm thinking about maybe hand quilting it, but I'd like to make this quilt without a binding - just sew the top, back and batting wrong side out and then turn it right side. But I'm not sure if that would cause problems for hand quilting. I'll check around and see if anyone does this and see if there are problems. I also pulled out my red fabric scraps that are 2.5 inch strips (since the color for January is red) and I think I know what I'll do with them. I just want to make something easy for blocks this year. Take care and have a good weekend!

Ruth, hope that snow is taken care of quickly and easily….gotta say its a shock that you did not crochet yesterday.
CJ- my gosh you are productive!!! So happy for you that you are pleased with the small X and O quilt. IMO- hand quilting it the way you want to should not be too big an issue as long as you are confident on your seaming and ability to make a quilt that way. As it is a smaller size, I think it would work out really well.
Worked this am…then went to the food store. I did this afternoon work on removing the silicone sealant in the bathroom- which I want to have done before Ds comes home. Right now it is drying and I will re- seal it tomorow morning early. One job I am very glad is almost done. Yes, I have to get back to work on the play mat. Hopefully tomorrow.

CJ,I hope the wall hanging works out as you like with no border and that you'll be able to hand quilt it. I've seen you mention a lot of wall hangings, so you have them all hanging in your house. If so it must be wonderful to be able to see them all hanging there. Low 20's does seem awfully cold for your area. It would sure be nice if we all could have a nice moderate temperature.
Ginny, it sure doesn't seem like today is one of the "lazy" days you spoke of yesterday. I hope you were able to find everything you wanted at the food store. Congratulations on getting that old sealant off.I was just thinking earlier about your son traveling. I'm praying for safe travel for him of course. And the playmat, well if the little person has not been born yet it will be awhile before he uses a playmat so no hurry but I bet you'll be happy when it's completed and mailed backto your sister.
The name of the shawl I'm making for my ddil says it's a prayer shawl. Well when I started it I didn't know that a prayer shawl would be needed although, of course, everyone always need to have someone praying for them, but today I found out that my ddil just found that my ddil has been sick and today tested positive for covid. I have to message my ds and ask how she is because I found out from my 10 year old grandaughter who didn't seem too worried so I'm guessing it's a mild case but I'll have to find that out from ds.I did work on the shawl today so this was not a day of no crochet like yesterday.
See you all tomorrow

I hope that you ladies are ok. It's strange that no one has posted here at all.
It snowed quite a bit during the night but we weren't going anywhere so it didn't affect us.
I did some cooking and baking today. We all pretty much cook everyday don't we. Have to do that to eat.
My crafting has consisted of looking at the crochet groups to see what everyone is making. But I'll crochet some in a minute. I can't believe it's nearly 10pm

And I cannot believe that I simply forgot to get here yesterday!! Ruth, yes we cook every day…..it always seems to think that something wonderful is being prepared by you in your kitchen I know your Dh appreciates your talent at cooking. Are you still baking cinnamon rolls? And I remember Dh really wanting more of the pecan pie bars. I actually wanted to make more of them for the meal that I took over for a friend and her husband who were sick last week…but had no pecans. Were you able to find anything new or stimulating on the crochet boards? I will add DDIL to my prayer list- and her family also. Those who I know who have had covid recently have not gotten all that sick and got over it in a reasonable amount of time, regardless of vaccination status. But its highly contagious…chances are the rest of that household will catch it also. The play mat is for a DGN who turns 2 at the end of February. My sister figures it will be used as a play mat….or who knows what. Its got the design of a road/city map. www.etsy.com/listing/1123842729/all-around-town-boys-playmat-dp24242-74?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_a-craft_supplies_and_tools-fabric_and_notions-fabric&utm_custom1=_k_EAIaIQobChMIo9Da6Kun9QIVlsmUCR2ZxAPJEAQYASABEgKQevD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_1843970764_76535550384_346429178387_pla-295916403786_c__1123842729_12768591&utm_custom2=1843970764&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIo9Da6Kun9QIVlsmUCR2ZxAPJEAQYASABEgKQevD_BwEYikes what a long link! Now that I have the fabric here, I will use my walking foot and diagonally quilt this piece. I completely abandoned the idea of quilting roads. If I had more time, I might consider that, but now I just want to get this project completed so I can work on projects I really want to work on. So……Yesterday, I woke up at normal time and knew that I had to get up and get that silicone sealant back on the tub. It took me awhile to check out directions as I have not worked with silicone sealant for awhile….got that job done, not as neatly as DH would have done but its sealed and clean and looks so much better. Then of course I noticed that the baseboard heater housing was a bit yucky looking so I cleaned that, and gave it a fresh coat of spray paint. That bathroom is in need of a new coat of paint. Gotta figure out what color I want in there and get to work on that during Easter break. The sun is coming up….so pretty and a lovely sky. Thank you Lord for another beautiful day. DD#2 came over with DGS #3. He is so darned cute and able to sit by himself now and is slowly figuring out that he might be able to crawl someday. The other day I made chicken pot pie to take to a sick friend and her husband…had some chicken breast all cooked left over from that. I made chicken and dumplings for DD and me for lunch. I asked Dd if the little fellow could have some dumplings…(he is 7 months old but no teeth yet). SO cute…..chicken and dumplings (or pot pie) is one of my favorite meals and the little guy LOVED dumplings, broken into tiny pieces that he could mash in his gums. Finished my vacuuming and housework after Dd and DGS left. DS got home last night before midnight - I was asleep but knew that his flight had landed safely. Hope that I can work on the play mat later on today while watching football. I really do not care too much about any of the games today, other than wanting to see one particular team eliminated. (Ha ha ha) Hoping for a quiet day. Ginny

Hello Everyone Ginny - I bet watching your grandson eat those dumplings was so cute and I'm sure they were good - nobody cooks like a grandmother does That playmat is cute. I'm glad your son made it home safely. You are so handy around the house, I admire that and give you a lot of credit for doing those repairs, etc. and I hope everything turns out the way you want it to. Ruth - I hope your baking and cooking went well, what did you make? I also hope that your DDIL will be alright and recover quickly. The family members of mine who have had covid have all been the younger ones and they did get better, but they had the Delta varient and their symptoms held on a bit longer. You would think that I have quilts displayed all over my house, but sadly I don't have a single quilt hanging anywhere. I do have a few table runners placed around. I've always dreamed I'd get a home where I could hang up some of my pieces, including a larger quilt on the wall. Maybe someday Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. This morning and afternoon I was motivated to work on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2022 blocks and I figured out what I'm going to do this year. I'm doing 4 different blocks and they are straight/strip blocks so I can use all my 2.5 inch strips that I saved last year. The blocks are: Jelly Roll Rock (pattern link below), Keyhole blocks (MSQC pattern), Brick block (my own design), Half Log Cabin blocks (4 blocks made into a large block). I'll post photos of them all below. I used up almost all my red fabric strips. So now I mostly have larger pieces of red fabric, so I'll either save them till next year or maybe cut up blocks sometime this year and make quilt with just blocks www.etsy.com/listing/675997691/jelly-roll-rock-digital-pattern-735?click_key=aa55d74c1e3990a68d934df7579d83e301d5169c%3A675997691&click_sum=93910d91&ref=shop_home_active_5&crt=1 - I bought the pattern. Hope you are all enjoying your day. Take care

CJ- what inventive and creative way to use those strips! Now do not ask me why my post just partially deleted….this makes no sense so I will be brief. CJ- you make so many lovely quilts you ought to display at least one small one…somewhere in your home. Just sayin’. Think its super cool that you designed that cute brick block yourself too!!
Now I am no home improvement wizard. I did not do a great job with the silicone, but am sure that it seals ok, its just not the neatest job. I stink at sheet rock, so ok with painting and can hammer nails pretty well. Ha haha.
Got a chill from walking earlier. Gonna take a shower now before dinner to warm up.
And Yes, Phyl and Sue we miss hearing from you and hope you are both doing well
