Happy Christmas Day! Hope everyone is having a great day. It feels good to be home and enjoying the day with DH and the kitties. Plan to get back to Spin this coming week. I think I am finally over my jet lag.

Hi, CT, good to see you. Oh gosh, I have not stepped on the scale since I've been back. Our hosts in China took us out for fabulous food for lunch and dinner every day. Everything was fresh. OTOH there were very little sweets and AU's.
We cut back on our Christmas Eve meal and did not make a tenderloin. So, we basically had appetizers instead.
MIL bought us many gifts and we don't know where we will put them. I have weights in the morning and will definitely go to Spin a couple times this week. I missed on out Zumba this morning because I didn't realize they had class. There were limited classes today at the Y's and limited hours. The instructors want off, too.

Yay, finally made it to Spin this morning. DH had to be up extra early so I made it to 8:20 a.m. class. It was a bit tough after missing several weeks, but my body is much happier now. Back to tracking food.

This morning was rough, and I don't go back until Tuesday. Left at 6 AM to see the neuromuscular dentist. Drive there was okay, but rained all the way home. It was just above freezing, so I was lucky in that respect. Got a GPS for Christmas, so used it for the first time. With all the appointments, will not get to the wallpaper stripping like I wanted. A small bag for Goodwill tomorrow since I also didn't sort thru anything else. Tomorrow I have imaging (MRI-type) and then my annual physical. The imaging company actually brings a van to my house, which is nice. Not nice that I have to pay $350 for it. Also need to get my fingerprints redone for work. They weren't good enough the first time, so I have to use a special company now that has limited hours around the state.
Feel like break was thoroughly not productive. Still need to finish grandma's Christmas shawl and send it too. Where did the time go?

Hi, CT, Happy New Year. Buckle up for a rough 2017 ahead besides whatever personal things that may affect us. Just sad I can't be more optimistic, but it is what it is.
It is colder and rainy today. We went to a bowl game Thursday night which was fun, come-from-behind victory, although I think I got a mild case of food poisoning from the concessions. Had 24-hour upset stomach. Broke our rule about not eating meat from concessions at events, but we have eaten there before on the club level. I do expect better food on club level. I can see by social media KS has been travelling.
We went for Indian fusion last night for NYE dinner, so that was good and then came home to spend time with each other and the kitties. Will need to start prepping for classes which begin on the 9th.
Also time to re-group and re-focus on weight loss again.

Hi, GS. Happy New Year. I'm not optimistic about it either. The best I can hope for is a "real" job in September, and that won't fix much except my bank account. Ugh on the food poisoning. One advantage to no meat, but even that isn't perfect. Last time I got it from potatoes. Apparently, even with potato salad, it's not the mayo but if the potatoes were cooled too slowly because they hold heat for so long. I go back Tuesday, so tomorrow will be the day I clean and make breakfasts and lunches.
Spent NYE at home with fuzzy. One glass of wine and too many cookies. I made nachos and celery sticks for dinner. Not that special, but something I never make. Was sort of healthy, but black olives and avocado would not make it low-fat. Dinner today will be a Thai coconut butternut squash soup, with cheese and crackers.

hi u guys, happy new year!
gs, glad to read you had a lovely trip with good food and a relaxing xmas day did you like some of the gifts? I'd love to hear more about your trip to china, whatever you'd like to write, if you'd like to write. what you did, visited, ate, how you found people there, and so on. i'm finding it challenging to be optimistic for 2017, but I'm seeing what i can find to feel positive about. that's a total bummer about the mild food poisoning.
Did you tell KS about the new site? She might have missed it.
What is in the Indian Fusian food?
ct, you have a home MRI (type thing)? That's astonishing! From what i've read 350 isn't bad for MRI prices. not even counting a housecall. We still have housecoats in France but not for imaging, to my knowledge. Awesome that you have the tenacity and affection to finish a whole shawl AND that you grandma is alive! My last grandparent passed away when I was 12! Are you totally meat and fish free? For health reasons? or taste or conviction? or any combination of the above?fixing bank account is somewhat uplifting in itself. certainly moreso than not. I admire that you make lots of breakfasts and lunches in advance. I am so lazy about cooking. I just make really quick things last minute most of the time. I find your way much better. Nachos and celery sticks sounds like a nice balance of indulgent and healthy. avocado and olives are pretty healthy fat! The soup sounds really good too. You are putting me to shame with all your cooking.
I was away in Malta for 12 days. I wanted to just get away for the holidays as it's been a rough year in many ways. I wanted to go somewhere not too far, not tooo hot, but warmer and sunnier, and a bit different from what i'm used to. It seemed narrowed down to souther Italy, southern Spain or Malta and Malta was suggested by 2 friends, so I went for it. The temperature and weather was quite what i was looking for, rather spring like during the day time, and very sunny for the most part, only the evenings were quite chilly and a couple of quite windy days. The country/island was much more built up and dense than i'd expected (i decided last minute and did minimal research), with lots of stunning fortifications with beautiful views of sunsets, and some beaches, mostly built up, a few left in their natural, protected state. The costs were slightly lower, overall than here or there, so I was able to have more posh hotels than usual for me, which was a nice treat. it takes an eternity to get around there by bus, due traffic and stops every 50-100 meters or so in some places. I would have done well to rent a car (dirt cheap) but i was hesitant with the left hand side driving and again the traffic. The north of the country had far less traffic most of the time, and was more what i was looking for. I spent the last 3 nights in a very posh place looking onto the sea, and due to an earlier mistake and it being the edge of low season i got an upgrade to a 1 br suite. I didn't really need it but it was pleasant to have.
Getting back i have some grades to calculate and post. and some paperwork that urgently needs to be done. I have 2 weeks till 2nd semester begins with a very low teaching load this spring. I would best use this time for job search (looking to move from adjunct-ish job to ft) and if not, research, applications for various things, you know, phd types stuff.
I have several part time jobs, some with contracts which are more lasting, or permanent-ish, as French contracts tend to be, but rate of pay like adjunct pay, meaning lots of work and running around at times for very modest remuneration....so I think the security is somewhat better than for an adjunct in the usa but the pay, no.
I got back yesterday and needed to sleep, having gotten up at 3:20 am to catch the plane. But today i totally lazed 100% and did nothing at all. I'm not good with transitions and tend to lose precious time. I need an imaginary coach or something...

Hi All, I'm glad to see you are still here, or at least, where ever here is! It's been a rough couple of months. I've not even tried to track since I went home to visit before Christmas, and I've not been able to exercise since then either. I was good and worked out the first 3 days of my trip, but (insert long story about mom's health and snow storm during the visit) and then I started to get sick on the way home and haven't felt well enough to work out since. I did start tracking yesterday though and have gotten on the scales a few times. Mom is fine, I'm still sick and DH woke up in the middle of the night throwing up so... that might be next. Yay... I need to go back and catch up with what everyone else is doing, but I just wanted to see if you were still here, check in and find out what was going on. KS

Hi, KS, good to see you. Sorry you are still sick. We started classes so it's been hectic. We also lost cable and internet over the weekend. Then this morning when i woke up my eye was super irritated, and I have pink eye. I spent three hours at the eye doctor and then getting a prescription filled before class.
i will definitely write more about China. I thought this new board we would be able to attach photos, but I don't see that as an option.
Need to get to bed.

I'd like to see China pics too. Maybe we can find our own forum or something similar. Three job apps to go out, one of which is for a part-time that might be promising until the end of the year. Weight and eating horrible. Some days I get in 12000 steps, others under 8000. Had some snow, but it's mostly melted. Farmer's Almanac had this winter wrong, at least so far. We need the rain/snow, but I'm okay with no snow days because it cuts into my pay.
Birthday was on Saturday. Almost no one remembered. Got two cards, one from my mother and one from a h.s. friend. Mom didn't email until Monday. She's great about emailing for every holiday, i.e. Happy Labor Day. The quasi-bf didn't even text. Sigh. There's times the single life sucks.
I get the new TMJ appliance on Monday. Hoping it's a miracle worker.

Hi, Zee. After all the Christmas stuff and then New Year's, no one wants to spend more money or eat more a week later. I had a friend who used to do her own, but we're different personalities. More upsetting that mom/dad didn't bother to call. Since sibling hasn't bothered to write a thank you note for a single gift in the past three years, wasn't expecting a card from her.
Not doing well on much. Drive 2+ hours each way today to get the new bite guard. She spent about 2 hours fitting it. Thought it was okay, but when I got home and put it in, it took only a minute or two before I had a full-blown panic attack because I felt like I was choking with it in. Took over an hour to just stop hyperventilating and crying. Followup isn't for a month because of my schedule, unless I want to take unpaid time off. I can't put it back in, not even to try again.
Butternut squash soup in the crockpot. New recipe. I tasted it, and it's not very good. Not much good about this weekend at all.
