Yea carbs seem to cost more and alcohol I believe is the same as PP, maybe a point more. My biggest annoyance is full fat cheese has gone up a point Joan- Its a bit of everything, I definitely need to track but its also keeping me from over doing it with carbs and fats. I had stopped eating as many fruits/veggies as well. They did finally get it so the fitbit syncs and the fit points seem to be higher for just moving though.

Hi!
My sister stopped by this afternoon. She had to drop off my nephew in town for an interview for summer job/internship and waited at my house. I gave her 4 bags of clothes to go through and what she, my mom, or friends don't want can go to Salvation Army. I still have more to go through in my closet.
Weight still at 122, no snacking last night, but ate a late dinner. We had a condo meeting last night in the lobby of our building with drinks and appetizers. Evil penthouse woman was not there, I guess she and her SO are away. She is on the board and the other 2 members of the board are good at keeping her in check.
Had my avocado/poached egg toasts. I've been eating 2 eggs every day, either for brunch or dinner. If dinner I scramble it and mix it into my grain bowl.
Will be going to the gym soon. Tomorrow will be a lot of food prep for Fri night dinner with SO's brother and GF

Hi everyone! I've been trying not to eat after 7 p but not always doing so good with it. Also have cut back wine quite a bit. Only have it when we have company and when we go out to eat. Occasionally it at home once a week.
Went to see one of my Bridge friends in the hospital today. She is very jaundiced and they are doing tests and have placed a stent in her common bile duct. There is some blockage there that could be a mass or a stone, they are not sue. She had her gallbladder out 40 years ago. It all does not sound good but she will know more in a few days . I am so worried about her and hope it isn't cancer of some kind.
Sue- I guess you mean the back pain. Yes it is better. I think I overdid it in the yard before it started bothering me.
Loving my yard and really enjoying it daily!

JoAnne, hope you friend's news is not bad---sends a red flag up for me since my former sec. and friend last year--they said her sudden cancer discovery was result of bile duct cancer which is nearly undetectable an painless until way too far gone--really hoping that this is not the same issue for her.
Will be off here until the weekend---start JDRF vol. work at 1 today and will be involved with it till gala is done late Friday. Going to yoga tho before I head down there---I will need that before the big push.
Beautiful day here.

Hi all,
Saw the doctor this morning. He upped my BP medicine to 3x a day instead of two to see if that might help being it down to normal, with caution because beta blockers can cause it to drop too much. It's been slightly elevated, but not going to big extremes like it was before. So, that made me feel better about long term effects like a stroke for instance.
So ready for my trip to Chapel Hill in a couple of weeks. Need to get away from here for a couple of days.
Sue, what are your nephews up to this summer?
Joan, hope the JDRF thing goes well. I just finished The Light Between Oceans. It was depressing.
JoJo, my hydrangeas are just about full of color. Love this time of year. Hope your friend is ok.

Whew! Hot outside. Went out this morning to prune back a Magnolia that I have. I don't like magnolias generally because they are so messy - dropping cones and leaceaves. I had one in the back that I had cut down. It was not doing well anyway under all of the tall other trees. The little one in the front just appeared in my yard about 6 yrs ago. I try to keep it small, about 7 feet tall by pruning it back periodicallly - looks sort of like a miniture. Anyway when I finished I had sweated like crazy.- soaking wet head and water dripping down my face! I used to not to to even get wet in the hottest weather but must be hydrating better now. Good sign! I have been trying really hard to drink my water.
Because it is so hot outside, I do a little and then come inside for about 20 min and then go back. Time now for diner. BBL

Hi!
Busy day, prepping for dinner tomorrow night. Didn't go to the gym but walked around neighborhood doing errands. Bought 3 small tartes for dessert, a key lime, a flourless chocolate and pear pistachio. They're about 5 inches in diameter.
I blanched/shocked sugar snap peas, they're garnish for the crabcakes. The crabcakes uses a shrimp mousse as binder and has no bread crumbs or mayo. It's an old recipe from what used to be the best restaurant in the city for many years, a very fancy French restaurant now closed. I have to make a butter parsley sauce to go with it. I also sauteed the pancetta that will be the garnish for my cauliflower soup, I'll sprinkle some dill on it. Also sauteed the mushrooms for the red wine pan sauce to be served with the filet mignon. I'm serving the beef with popovers and roasted asparagus. I love making popovers, so cool when they puff up so high.
Jojo, I hope your friend will be ok. How hot was it today? It got up to 93 here and I was so hot from walking in the heat.
Joan, hope you have fun at the gala
Holly, I'm glad that you have a solution to the HBP problem. Oldest nephew will be working as usual until he starts med school, not sure when that starts this year. Second oldest will start job at Vanguard. Third just went on some interviews for internships/jobs - also in the business realm. 4th is probably not doing anything, he's in 9th grade

Hi All--worked till almost 10 last night--then today they decided they did not need us--apparently some glitch in getting some printed material so they were last minute adding that to tables which is what we usually do today earlier. So, had breakfast out leisurely, took a couple tops back to the store, tried to get a nap but ended up lying down and reading only (which is okay), just now went through my usual weights routine that I missed today--will have to get ready in about 30 minutes. No idea to this moment what I am wearing! LOL
Sue, I bet your dinner was fabulous! How about just a book on entertaining---whether dinner, coffee, hors d'oeurvres, etc. Complete with directions, recipes, shopping lists, pictures of presentation, etc. Getting warmer here--oh, oh--yesterday was so cool it was crazy. Did you read the scary article by british scientists about Antarctica? Wow, things are melting down so fast.

Good morning everyone! Ready for my gym class and having coffee, post oatmeal, before I go. The gala was a huge success---biggest money raiser yet. They made 1.5 million---85% of that will go to actual research--and nearly 100% is pure profit because nearly everything there is donated--all the auction items are, the venue, the food, really amazing. The labradoodle puppy was the cutest ever---Aimee, you would have loved seeing him--he was carried around for people to see up close before the auction--brought in $13,500 this year. One family donated $250,000 and asked to remain anonymous--wow--impressed me! That's the humble kind of caring some people uniquely have.
I ran into a teacher who worked for me only one year in 1999--we are on FB still--she told me another one of my teachers was awarded a school---so six principals now out of my last school where I implemented a full participative management approach to everything from hiring to curriculum and budget---wow--makes me totally appreciate the theory of participation---and of those six, I recommended five for admin.and all five are awesome principals---the one they hired that I did not recommend (and he never participated even tho given opportunities to do so) is not amazingly good--has had problems and really needs to be out--unfortunately they move him around instead. So much for personnel overriding recommendations!
Sue, how was dinner party?
Holly, did you see my review of On Tyranny--it's a read I think you would really like--very quick read=---only 126 pages but excellent.
JoAnne, is your tiredness pretty much taken care of now? Have you been using your riding mower? Did you go see Gifted in the movie theatre? It's such a good one.

Hi all,
Just cleaning up around the house today. Did the bike this morning. I hope doing the bike regularly will keep my weight lower this summer. I was 110 at the doctor's this past week. I like to stay around 109-112. I typically gain a few pounds during the summer and got up to 115 last year. While not a huge deal, it made a difference when I bought a pair of jeans.
Joan, I'll check that book out. Glad the JDRF event was a success.

Hi!
Been busy with our guests. Dinner turned out great. I did filet mignons in saute pan and made a red wine pan sauce from it. I seared the beef in advance and made the sauce. This way I could slowly roast the beef to finish off the cooking and not have to be spend time on it, just reheated the sauce prior to serving. Much less hectic this way and also I can sit at the table with guests, rather than standing by the stove.
Walked around the city with them today. So at least I got my exercise in.
Dinnner out tonight at the sister restuarant where I interned at
Glad the gala turned out so well, Joan!

Posted last night but it has mysteriously disappeared!
Joan congratulations on the wonderful job on the gala. I'm sure you are exhausted and it took a lot of work.
Sue- your dinner sounded fabulous! And so much preparation- but that was what you went to school for , wasn't it! I''love bet you had a wonderful presentation of it too!. I like Joan's idea of you writing a book. You would do a great job!
Holly have you gotten any new ideas from your "Intuitive thinking" book.
Raining here.
Joan, I haven't heard of that movie.

Hi!
SO's brother and GF left this morning, spent part of day cleaning up after them and putting things away. I was nice for me to see SO hanging out with his brother, it is now just the 2 of them in the family - well his brother does have 2 sons and hopefully will have kids to inherit some family items. SO has a set of Civil War surgical/medical tools that belonged to an ancestor, also a sword, among other items.
Went to the gym. Weight is up to 124 this morning, ugh! Alot of eating this weekend. Dinner was really nice last night, they sent out all these extra items for us to eat because I interned there and they recognized me. Also ran into another couple who used to live next to us in our condo, my former fellow board members. So great to see them and will try to get together soon.
Jojo, actually this dinner was less work than I used to do for a dinner party, 1 less course and bought dessert. I decided I didn't need to go overboard, plus most people can't even eat that much any more.
Well I have a lot of leftovers. SO took home most of his main course from last night's dinner.
It was cold yesterday. But we went to an Italian casual restaurant that opened up about a year ago and is really popular as a trendy hangout - we sat outside and had a drink and people watched - something SO and I rarely do when not on vacation.
