Hi all,
Just a regular Monday. I just started reading The Orphan Train.
JoJo, no I am not sure what happened to the intuitive eating book. I read it back in grad school, and it must have gotten lost in all of the moving.

Just back from my 3 class gym day--body sculpt, my favorite class, was again the best. Leaving soon to pick up Jordan and get him to registration for his college classes---hopefully a bit of work in the yard later this afternoon---it's in the 90's here as well, Aimee--after being so cool and lovely so far this spring! But dry 90's is not hot so it's okay.
Hope all of you have a good day!

Hi! Dreary day here and cool. Did some food prep, more laundry, bills, gym. At least weight came down to 122 from 124 of yesterday.
Aimee, I heard the west coast was going to have a big heat wave.
Holly, are you less busy now that school is over
Joan, you must be in the gym for hours with all those courses. Glad that Jordan is able to take the college classes.
I need to talk to some former teachers maybe in trying to figure out what I want to do. We asked the owner of the restaurant we went to on Sat night, if she's happy with her restaurants (she has 4 and might be opening up another), and she says some days she's happy. I know she is crazy busy, that's for sure.

Holly, somehow I thought you were reading the Intuitive Eating book now. Oh well!
Had a filling in my tooth replaced today. Glad that is over!
What a week Inhave ahead of me. Tomorrow must grocery shop. We'd. My brother has surgery and I want to try to go to the hospitals but he will be about 2 hours away. Thursday DGS will have his 10th birthday - we will go for cake and bring the other two here to spend the night. He is having boys over there for a sleepover party. Sat. The Houston group gets in here for a week. We are staycationing with them for the week.
I may not check in for a while with all the activity here. We will be so busy.
Hot here too. Raining off and on though.
I'm sure with all of this, I won't get back to exercises yet. I feel so guilty about this. Haven't done too good at not eating after 7pm either. Tonight had green tea, cashews and cheese!

The past few nights have been so bad, where it doesn't even cool off in the middle of the night. Between the heat and allergies I've just been feeling blah. Part of it also has to do with missing the husband and the fact that I am pretty sure I wlil be cutting off contact with my mom.
I realized the day before mothers day that anytime she calls/texts/etc my anxiety and stress go up. She always needs something or just wants to complain. Anyways that saturday I texted asking when I could swing by on mothers day to see her. She calls and asks if I work or whatnot that day. I told her no, just have plans to do some crafting with my best friend who is moving shortly. She starts crying then hangs up. Calls me again an hour later saying she expected me to spend the day with her. Mind you I haven't heard from her all damn week. She always does that, expects me to know things without ever saying them. Then she calls me emotionless and heartless because I didn't automatically plan to spend the day with her. I haven't done that since high school maybe? Then I tell her maybe I'm stressed since my husband is deployed and she flat out says "well my husband is dead" like I don't know my dad is dead. So that just did it for me. I told her I was done talking. The more I think about it the worse it gets. I know she is going to flip when she realizes Im really done. But who says that?
Sorry for the long vent, I don't have many people to talk to about this and I just needed to get it out.

Holly, so sorry to hear about the anxiety and stress with your mom. How old is she? Didn't you used to get together periodically with her dogs--seems I remember that. Is she becoming forgetful and forgetting when you've been together? Does she ever drive to come see you?
I got the new keyboard cover for my ipad and I love the look of it and how it physically holds the ipad and even the layout of the keyboard even tho' the right shift key is smaller and a little lower so there is a bit of a learning curve. However, occasionally it throws in a period when I don't hit one--might be that I accidentally hit two spaces which is automatic period and capital letter. If I can get used to that then the new sized shift key won't matter much. I love the case tho--it is aluminum on both sides and looks really cool. It was way cheaper than the last one I;ve been using so am just hoping this period thing is me and not the board. I'm a fast typist soI always have a keyboard case--can't stand the touch screen typing.
Today Jordan and I went back to community college--spent a good 2 hours there yesterday getting him registered for classes--hitch is that his calculus class is 5 credits and he has to take 4 college level classes but they only pay for 12 credits--this will put him over by one so I will pay that --he will be taking tHS english and government, college calculus, Japanese, communications 101 and psychology 101. He's had two years of Japanese in HS so hopefully going into college level he will be ahead in the beginning . Today we had to get the voucher to pay for two of the three Japanese credits. He will most likely be able to graduate with an associate degree which would allow him to start a four year college as a junior.Hard to believe.

JoAnne, it sounds as tho you will be super busy for a couple weeks! Is the staycation at your house or are you going to a local hotel?
Aimee do a lot of kids take summer school?
Sue, sounds as tho your restaurant of internship really was happy to see you come in for dinner. Is your SO a son of AM revolutionaries or something? Has he given up on house hunting? Or does it go in spurts?
Over 100 today here--wow it feels so hot getting in the car after it's parked in the sun---that's my pet peeve in the heat.
Last night and today I reskimmed The Handmaid's Tale and took some notes for tomorrow night;s book club meeting here. Luckily I do not have to do food---dishes, table setting, drinks only. I'd like to do it on the patio so at 6 tonight will go out and see how warm it feels---might be too warm--not sure if it's still hot then or not since it;s not mid summer yet.

Our neighbors have a house sitter since they have had two break ins (they keep guns and jewelry and someone they know must know). We saw him the other day and chatted and he pet sits as well---cheaper than our lady did---so we have his number and need to call and have him come over and meet the cats---he said he;s willing to do it for us--OMG, that would be so good as I have been dreading leaving town.
No idea what I;m making tonight---maybe just leftovers as I did stirfry last night and we have lots left. Hope DH is okay with it!
Holly we read the Orphan train for book club and really liked it.

Hi!
Got busy yesterday, up early and went to gym - housekeeper day. One of SO's ex partners came by in the afternoon for a visit. He's been interviewing at several companies but he's not really in a hurry to find something although he's getting bored.
Jojo, you sure do have a jampacked week! Hope all goes well with your brothers surgery
Aimee, sorry about the trouble with your mom. I can relate in that my parents are getting older and seems more set in their ways. There is always drama when I see them. You know you can always vent on here to us.
Joan, wow Jordan sounds really smart. So he only needs 1 year of community college? SO's ancestors came over on the second ship after the Mayflower, I think the sword came from there. He constantly looks online at houses.
Today's his birthday and I had told him I had no gift for him. We are really running out of things to give each other. We're going out to dinner either tonight or tomorrow, depends on how he feels. Tomorrow I got a reservation at a really popular restaurant that is usually fully booked (unless we do a 9:30 pm table). But it is farther away and we would take a taxi, tonight we could go someplace close by and we could walk.

Sue, Jordan will attend the community college/high school for two years but has the ability to graduate then from the high school with two years of college credit---however, the district only pays for 48 credits so he may have to settle with just getting all of that--not sure we can pay for him to take way more--it is $110 a credit and most of the upper level courses have 3-5 credits. Either way, he will have met so many college required courses that he will be well on his way toward a degree. It may not be cost effective to pay the extra to get the associate degree while there if in fact he receives a lot of scholarship money. If he continues his straight A work on college level work then I feel he will get a relatively large amount of scholarship money--and his strongest area is math which is highly coveted in today's world. Pretty cool, huh? It;s such a pleasure to take him to the school and other places--with absolutely no influence from a dad or mom this kid has the most awesome social skills and attitude--if I could instill this in my on DGK's it would be amazing--don't mean that my DGK's are not good kids, but they do not have this gift that Jordan has--he just naturally seems to appreciate people and reassure them of his appreciation--I really think it is a level of interpersonal giftedness because no one at home taught it to him. His father was terrible and had awful social skills with people. His mother completely out of the picture. No grandparent involvement ever--he doesn't even know them--did not know their names until I had to research that when working on the guardianship for Justin.

Hi all,
Not much to report. Most students take classes online during the summer. Just dealing with medical issues. I have an appointment to get orthotics made tomorrow. I hope that these will allow me to start running again. Been missing it.
I'm sorry to hear that Aimee. Vent anytime.
Joan, the Orphan Train was really good. I just picked up Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. I've found several of my GoodReads list books right here in the library. Sounds like Jordan is an exceptional kid. We have an early college high school here. I think it's a 5 year program that ends with both a high school diploma and an associate's degree.
Sue, that's good that SO got to spend time with his brother. Hope you have a good dinner.
JoJo, enjoy!

Thanks everyone! Getting my nails done today after work, Im thinking a nice bright purple or blue is in order. I have my friends going away/birthday party tomorrow then my best friend will be coming over sat night to hang out and have a slumber party lol Getting much better at my meals on ww, more used to the new point system. I enjoy how they encourage lean proteins so much. Also tried the frozen green giant cauliflower mash last night, its 3SP for a 1/2 cup serving. They don't taste JUST like mashed taters but its a great sub and nice to keep in the freezer. I remember reading the Orphan Train awhile ago when I was part of a book club. I enjoyed it. Need to get into a new book asap. I cant just keep re-reading the Outlander series while waiting for book 9 lol(ok maybe I can )

Hi all,
I am getting a new heel lift that will go in any of my shoes. So that hopefully will help the pain in my hip.
Aimee, I read Outlander, but didn't get very far into Dragonfly in Amber. Wehave the series here, so I might give it a try again this summer.

Hi!
I don't know what I did yesterday but it just went by fast. I did go to the gym, but that was about it, it was a dreary rainy day.
We went out to dinner last night, to the farther away restaurant. It was one of Bon Apetit's best this year and it was really, really good. The chef had another restaurant that we loved but it closed last year. So glad that he opened this one. He makes the most amazing crudo dishes. Unfortunately my weight is up to 123.
Aimee, I've made cauliflower mash before but added just a little mashed potato in it. I think I read about 3-4 of the outlander series, I can't believe it's stilll going.
Holly, great that you got the new lifts, is that what you need to run again?
Not much going on here. Will do some errands today, go to gym. Tomorrow my 2 aunts from NJ are coming to visit my parents, so I'll go to see them too.

Hi all,
Glad it's the weekend. Not much going on as usual. I'm working Monday. We get a day for Spring Break and a couple of days at Easter so we don't get Memorial Day or Labor Day off. It's okay with me since I'm not going anywhere.
Sue, glad you liked the restaurant. Are you still doing the treadmill at the gym? Yes, the lift should allow me to start running again.
