Good for Stephen Colbert for standing by his words & not apologizing for his remarks ...I'm so tired of apologies that mean nothing because they are forced & would rather just have someone stand by their words if they believe in what they said even if it offends some. He did say he would change a phrase or two & that works for me.
As for Joe Walsh...ya, someone who owed $117,000 in Child Support ( not sure he's even paid it off yet) has no right to say anything on kids, healthcare, etc. He can't even take care of his own kids, so attacking Jimmy Kimmel is just downright laughable. My god, way too many rocks for people like Walsh to crawl out under from.

Senate Legislators Address The Press After Their Weekly Policy Luncheons
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)âCalling it a âmedical mystery of the first order,â scientists are baffled by the ability of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan to stand upright without the benefit of spines.
Doctors at the University of Minnesota Medical School, who have been studying the skeletal structures of both Republicans for months, believe that their ability to stand, walk, and even break into a brisk trot when confronted by reportersâ questions is âvirtually inexplicable.â
âThe fact that they can do these things without the aid of spines makes McConnell and Ryan anomalies in the animal kingdom,â said Dr. Davis Logsdon. âAccording to everything medical science teaches us, their bodies should be collapsing to the ground in two heaps.â
As the Minnesota scientists have struggled to solve the medical conundrum presented by the two invertebrate leaders, one theory that has gained traction is what Logsdon calls âthe startled-deer hypothesis.â
âJust as a deer freezes in the headlights of a car and briefly appears statue-like, we believe that Ryan and McConnellâs bodies may retain their rigid structure out of terror alone,â he said. âIn other words, fear is performing the function that a spine performs in other people.â
Calling it âjust a theory,â Logsdon said that the anatomies of McConnell and Ryan require further study, and that there was growing public support for both men to be dissected.

Thanks Linda for letting me know I screwed up! I inadvertently hit the wrong board for the opening post. It allowed me to delete my post, and the opening post I had put but would not allow me to delete the thread as there was another post there. I'll contact Deb and ask her to remove it. That's what I get for not paying enough attention!
Also glad Colbert is refusing to apologize. After all, isn't Tweety the one who made a big deal during the campaign about how there was too much emphasis on political correctness? I hope CBS will stand behind Colbert. If it were up to Tweety and his crowd there would be no freedom of speech for anyone but themselves. Tweety certainly doesn't show mercy on anyone he decides to publicly attack.

My own fault for not paying close enough attention before I clicked. I was just so incensed about the response to Jimmy Kimmel particularly the comments made by that slimy Joe Walsh, that I just clicked in the wrong place. I have contacted Deb, and deleted both the opening and my remarks. Definitely do not want to stir up trouble, and it really was unintentional but careless. Whew! Think I'll have another cup of coffee . . .

Good! The thread has been removed. Don't know if Deb removed it, or NatureLover removed her post, but it has been taken off so all is as it should be again . . . well, all is as it should be on the threads. Can't say that for the country.

Glad to see Hillary coming out of the shadows and getting politically active again. I think her time to run for office is past, but she can do a lot of good for the country in speaking out, raising funds for Democratic candidates, keeping Republican feet to the fire. Go Hillary! You may not have crashed through that glass ceiling, but you did pave the way for a woman who will. You showed those who may have been too complacent what can happen when we take our vote, our democracy for granted. We end up with doomsday in the Oval. Enjoyed my lunch with my former boss who is my friend, and who sees Tweety exactly as I see him. We roasted him over lunch. Hope his ears were burning!

Well, I certainly hope the name TRUMPCARE sticks. They dang well better own it now, it's on them! They can celebrate today w/ Tweety but I bet once they get home & face their constituents, well, good luck with that! All they did in my humble opinion is create uncertainty, a red tape disaster, etc. They can spin it anyway they like but it's a horrible scary mess! And to depend on the States to provide complete coverage that guaranteed health care for pre existing conditions plus so much more, is having your head up one's azz! đĄ

Dan Rather History doesn't reward political victories, it rewards improvements in the human condition. The health care bill that the Republicans have just rammed through the House of Representatives is all about optics. It's all about a political "win" for the President and his party. It's all about serving the base. But what about what it means for millions of Americans? What does it mean for a young mother facing a cancer diagnosis and worrying about the future of her young child? What does it mean for an HIV patient worrying about losing a job and the cost of his pre-exisiting condition? What does it mean for a family facing sickness, and bankruptcy? What will this bill mean for all of these people, and countless more? We don't know. No one really knows. We are in a rush without reason. A major piece of legislation is being crammed through before it is even analyzed and vetted. Of course our current system isn't perfect - far from it. Of course the Affordable Care Act needs revisions. Who gets something that big right the first time? But instead of progress and thought, we get chaos and grandstanding. There will be no end to the speculation of how this will affect the political fortunes of the two major parties. And on that front, frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. I worry for my fellow citizens for whom the burden of health will now be compounded by the burden of injustice.

I don't know how they think the states are going to be able to fund a high risk pool. States are ALWAYS in a budget crisis. The 8 bil that they say will go for that is spread out over FIVE YEARS. That is just a drop in the bucket. We go from nobody being able to afford insurance (unless you get subsidies like a lot of Trump voters do) to the one's with pre-existing conditions dying because it is now three times (or more) the freeking price that it is now. I just hope that this turns the house back to a Democrat majority in 2018 so we can at least have some lawmakers with a heart again.

No way are the states going to be able to fund a high risk pool. Look at all the states who wouldn't even sign on to the exchange with Obamacare when that was going to be subsidized by the federal government. And now they're suddenly going to trust that 8 billion is going to make it into their coffers, and they're going to actually use it for funding healthcare if it does? as hnybny91, said states are almost always in a budget crisis and looking to throw people off Medicaid now rather than add more people to their healthcare rolls. This is going to be a disaster for ordinary people. An absolute disaster! Just hoping that something better happens in the Senate, but if I'm reading correctly McConnell is busy working on ways to fast track it through. A friend of mine who is a doctor and strongly favors Obamacare just posted this on FB, "Last I heard Alexander had agreed with McConell that they could skip the usual mark ups in Alexander's Health committee and take it straight to floor so they don't have to hear from adversely affected stakeholders such as the AMA, AHA, AARP and, even more importantly, affected patients." His words not mine, but he's usually pretty politically astute. Just another alternative fact in the long litany of them . . . www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a54842/trump-civil-war-river-of-blood/
