We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Hope it is OK I started the thread this morning. Just heard that a group of 13 Republican MEN in the Senate are going to draft their own version of the healthcare bill. Not ONE.SINGLE.WOMAN We should expect Planned Parenthood to be defunded, maternity coverage to be optional, and birth control to not be covered for sure now.

If the GOP doesn't start including women in anything, it won't be long before the human race is extinct! Makes one wonder what their wives say to them about all this...OR Is this part of the ..." The husband is the head of the household & wife is to remain submissive" ?....And these same men have the audacity to condem & attack the Muslim Faith for the way they see them treating their wives/women.....🙄....Kind makes one wonder, doesn't it!?!?!?....UGH!

Exactly what I was thinking @lka5 ! I cant help but think of all the women that voted for Trump after everything that happened and came out during the campaign and wonder how much they were influenced by the men in their lives. I am sooooo glad my husband shares the same beliefs that I do. After this election and seeing exactly what the Republican party stands for I told my husband that we are moving out of this Republican state and to a more progressive one for retirement.

Even in this day there are so many women out there who are content to follow in their husband's shadow. I don't understand that. Don't understand why a woman would be willing to do that much less choose to do that. Even when I was growing up I never got the women should be silent and follow their husband's lead line of thought. I always knew I had an opinion and a right to voice it. Not just a right, but a determination to do so. My husband was born, raised, and became an adult in Eastern Europe but he would never want me to be subservient, and it's a good thing because I would never be willing to do that. Marriage should be an equal partnership. And women who choose otherwise, are not women I understand. While I don't think all women who support Tweety and the Republican agenda do so because they are following their husband's lead, I do think that's the case with a lot of women. Women make up half the population in this country, and yet the Republican party in many ways treats them as chattel. Save us from a bunch of old white men who want to make all our choices for us.

So this administration is anti-immigration unless it puts money into their pockets. Selling citizenship is evidently the way to go now. And Jared's sister was busy doing just that in China. Invest $500,000 in Kushner properties, you can immigrate to the US, and get an EB-5 visa with a path to a green card and citizenship. I guess I'm naive, because I found this shocking but evidently it has been going on among the Kushners and Trumps and their holdings for awhile now. Build that wall against poor people trying to get to a better life, however. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" -- Not in the world inhabited by the Trumps and Kushners money.cnn.com/2017/05/06/news/jared-kushner-nicole-family-event/index.html

Joyce, I had read that earlier today, too.. It was like "seriously" !!! ...The whole Kushner saga with Jared's dad is like a mob, made for TV soap opera. Chris Christie was responsible for prosecuting Jared's dad I think...google the story of that & how family members turned on each other thru some pretty sorid means. So, with the sister selling visa's in China, nothing really surprises me. Is ANYBODY going to step up & call foul on this whole Trump/ Kushner group cashing in from the Oval Office. !!! !!!??...Just disgusting!

Robert Reich........... Another tale from the Trump swamp. Remember Corey Lewandowski? He’s Trump’s former campaign manager who after the election opened a lobbying firm just a block away from the White House. Lewandowski is back in the news because he’s resigning from his lobbying job after it was reported he offered international clients direct access to Trump. In documents obtained by Politico, Lewandowski promised, “meetings with well-established figures,” including Trump, Pence, and “key members of the U.S. Administration.” And he hasn’t even registered as a lobbyist. Government-ethics watchdog group Public Citizen has sent letters to the Department of Justice and congressional oversight committees calling for an investigation into whether he broke the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Trump’s Washington is getting swampier by the day. What do you think?

I think this whole sordid administration is just disgusting, and the more I find out each day the stronger the smell. I'm beginning to believe that there truly is no depth they can not and will not sink too, and it's the whole bunch of them--everyone associated with Tweety, his administration, and his family.
Linda, I haven't read up about the Kushner prosecution. Knew that Christie had prosecuted him and sent him to jail, but really didn't know any details. I'm going to do as you suggest, Google it, and read up on it. Honestly, you couldn't make this stuff up. And they tried to say Hillary and Bill profited from the White House! Disgusting!!

Well just read that Jared's sister Nicole (the one selling Visas/citizenship pathways in China) and his brother Josh are the ones who are supposedly in control of Ivanka's company right now. There is no end to this . . .

This job was just to line their own pockets and I for the life of me can't understand why his base can't see that.

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2016/11/16/politics/trump-transition-jared-kushner-chris-christie/index.html Here's a piece of this article... Under investigation at the time for making illegal campaign contributions, Kushner targeted his brother-in-law, William Schulder, a former employee turned witness for federal prosecutors in their case against the Democratic donor. In retaliation, Kushner hired a prostitute to lure Schulder into having sex in a Bridgewater, New Jersey, motel room as a hidden camera rolled. A tape of the encounter was then sent to Kushner's sister and Schulder's wife, Esther.
