Very good looking quilt tops, CJ!
Yesterday we awakened to at least a foot of snow. This morning, most of it is gone.
My older daughter has had a case of the omicron variant of Covid. It wasn't too bad, and she finally tested negative about seven days after the onset. Her doctor had her take Paxlovid. About ten days after that, there was a rebound infection which she described as being far worse than the worst cold she has ever had. Hers is not an isolated case. Most of those having a rebound infection have a light case. She was supposed to visit this week, but that's been postponed until the end of May.
Last week my snow and lawn person brought his crew and trimmed, pruned, and removed some dead shrubs. It was a massive undertaking that took three days. I still need to have a few trees removed by someone else. (safety issue). They did a really good job.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you were able to enjoy a fire last evening and that you are happy with your jelly roll quilt. Split Rail quilts are really pretty - what colors are your fabrics? I hope you can get your yardwork done, do you have anyone to help you? Sue - That's a lot of snow, but I'm glad most of it is gone. I'm happy you have someone to do your yardwork and hope that you can find someone to remove those trees for you. I also hope that your daughter recovers soon and has no lasting effects from the virus. Ruth - Hope you are doing well and getting some crocheting done. Phyl - Hope you are well and working on some quilting. It's warm and sunny here today, but I probably won't even go outside to enjoy it Thanks so much for your kind words on my quilt tops, I appreciate them very much. Ginny - I'm afraid to do a black and white picture of my Sweet Dreams quilt - it will drive me crazy if I see something I'd want to change in the center that I can't now But I may try it anyway just to check out that outer border block placement. Thanks for suggesting that. I think I might have to do something different with those last four blocks on the Floral quilt. The white background just really stands out to me. I may remake a block using the floral as the background and see how that works. This morning I got my Moda Blockheads blocks caught up - I needed to do two this week. And I tried making a few of the small 5 inch blocks. They are so cute, but sure have lots of small pieces. The picture I'm showing is of the 3 easiest ones. I tried them before the tough ones I decided to just make the small blocks in two fabrics - a Kona Bone for the light color and then one of my other fabrics (red, brown, gold, yellow) for the second color. I may add in some of the floral to the small blocks if I need to. I'm beyond thrilled that I didn't lose my points on the small blocks, but I need to work on them to get them to lay flatter. I'm not completely happy with the yellow and brown fabric in this quilt, but I felt like just using the floral, red, gold and cream made the quilt a bit monotone. I guess I'll see how things go. Hope you all get to do some crafting too and that you have a good day! Take care

Sue, we know you have such a full plate- between caring for your home and Dh. Have you been able to get any crocheting in, any crafting at all? ( I can imagine not). I well remember those days (when my mom was still here) and crafting was something I could only dream about and think about what I might make if I had time. I hope that you are doing ok otherwise. Surely your daughter’s health is a big concern. I heard today that essentially all covid cases in this country are omicron. Hoping that she recovers quickly from this nasty virus and that no one else in your family get it. Glad to hear that you are getting your landscaping done, but yikes!!! A foot of snow! Glad it was all melted this am. CJ- I see what you are saying about the yellow and brown fabric- but it really does brighten the quilt and add a bit of an unexpected element. I think that evenly distributed throughout the quilt (sporadically, if that is all you want to do) it will be a welcome addition. don’t beat yourself up!!! And you know, try the black and white photo method on that quilt to help you decide where to put it. Regarding the sweet dreams quilts, take that black and white! You cannot change the center of the quilt but you can rearrange the border to compensate for an imbalance in the middle. I do not think you will find much to change. An expert quilter suggested the B/W photo to me and I was shocked at what it revealed. Like your quilt, I was unable to change the center, but it was still easy to move a block from one side of the quilt to the other for a more pleasing effect. I would give trying the remake of some blocks using the floral as a background, as it will blend better than the white. But its a beautiful quilt….all in all nice work!! I got a little bit done on the PMQ and then heard from DD that she was coming here, so I took a kid interruption. Now its too late for me to do much quilting, as I tend to make mistakes in the evening. I did look at my fabrics again- for the QAYG. I am considering buying different fabrics for the sashing, as I suspect what I originally bought will make too busy a quilt. I will have to see what I can pick up that might work instead of what I have as that time approaches in a few weeks. When I originally bought the fabric I have I did not really understand what the pattern was asking for. Of course now I do and like I said, just wonder if I should select a more plain fabric. think I will lay out some squares on top of the sashing fabric and see what you think. (Got no idea how this will look to me….so I am being a bit brave) Have a good nite and Yikes!! Tomorrow is Monday Ginny

My keyboard is acting strangely….so another post was needed. The blue vinca floral (bottom fabric) is actually not called a sashing but a joining fabric. I think the joining strips are less than 2 inches wide, so you will not see that much of the fabric. If I were to replace it I would pick up something much less busy, like the dark blue dot fabric (second fabric up from the bottom of the top right square). Decisions, decisions
