hello Ginny and all. Ginny, my dgd is expecting a girl. Her sister and brother both have boys..one is 7 months old the other is 8 months. So everyone is happy she's having a girl. I usually make my baby things in traditional colors but I think these "modern" parents want non traditional colors so I did buy that tangerine that Meg mentioned and I especially like the grey, blue and white that you used for your baby blanket. I have some nice yarn that I got at Hobby Lobby that is actual baby yarn but is in unusual colors so I might make those. I haven't made the floss bracelets yet but have that on my list. I saw a pattern the other day that would be perfect for some beads I have so those are the ones I'm going to try first. I'll post the link later
And what fun to have the little ones stop in. I know they're so cute.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ruth – Those colors sound nice together. I’m sure the darker pink looks good with the yellow, white and purple. Crocheted bracelets sound interesting and quick to put together. I bet someone would love to get one of those from you. Tangerine colored yarn sounds beautiful too! I love your new avatar
Ginny – I bet your Grape Jelly was good, you live in a good area for grapes. We used to grow Concord grapes in our yard, but all the vines are gone now. An Irish Chain quilt is on my list of quilts I want to make someday. I was thinking of doing one in reds and creams. Your pink and black one sounds like it would be very pretty and dramatic. I hope you enjoyed visiting with those grandkids, I bet they are so cute and funny at those ages.
Meg – Hope things are coming along with your border. So far the only type of border I’ve tried to crochet is a shell border and I do like the way those look around the edge of a blanket.
Phyl – Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting.
I used to always make Strawberry Preserves and Peach Jam each summer. And some years I made Fig Preserves from a tree in our yard. I even tried Black Raspberry Preserves (used a Food Mill to get the seeds out so it would be seedless) and Grape Jelly once. It’s a lot of work with a small output, but it sure does taste good. I enjoyed just making a small amount yesterday – probably only about ¾ cup. It takes me awhile to eat jelly/preserves so it’s nice just to have little bit.
I finished hand stitching the binding on the small project I was using as practice and I’m very pleased with it. The corners look good, and it’s straight and neat. I’m so happy that I enjoy binding, now if I can just get better at machine quilting
I also finished the center of the mini-wholecloth medallion quilt. It was fairly difficult quilting the circular parts, so I’m hoping all the straight line quilting that’s left will be a little easier. The circles (feathers actually) look pretty, but they’re work! And I pulled out an old quilt-as-you-go table runner that I had finished years ago but never did the binding, so now I can get it bound. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone, I don't have much planned for today except I have to pick Devin up from school. I worked at weaving in some of the ends on my afghan last night and then I dropped my sewing needle with the large eye and couldn't find it. It will turn up eventually but I will go and buy another one. Then I worked on my b/blanket and it is coming along nicely.
Ruth, I notice a lot of the baby blanket patterns have grey and it looks very nice along with, pink, blue or yellow and several other colors. Actually grey goes with almost everything. I am looking forward to trying it when I finish what I am working on. Ginny, I hope the second washing of your key board worked. My keyboard is a bit sticky but I would be afraid to wash it. Your g/kids are cute at 2 & 4. I am sure they keep you amused when they pay you a visit.
cj & Phyl, I hope you are having a great day.
I will try and check back later.

CJ, I know you're thrilled at how the binding turned out so well. Getting the corners the way they should be is not easy I know because some of the women at Caps for Kids were also quilting and were doing something that was a little like quilting but is hard to explain..both needed binding and they were trying to teach each other how to do it properly. The thing they were doing was kind of like a quilt as you go only it didn't have batting inside, it was just pieces of flannelette and they were making more of receiving blanket size. Yes Ginny's Irish chain does sound beautiful doesn't it.
Yes I'm very pleased at how this darker pink is working with the purple and white. As I mentioned, I haven't put any yellow in yet so I'm about to try that after one more row of white. I was skeptical but now I do think it will work.
Meg, sorry to hear you lost the needle you were using to weave in the ends. Yes I really love the way grey looks. Who would have thought it would look so nice.
Ginny, I was wondering if you remember the name of the color of the blue..ish, kinda teal I guess yarn you used in that blanket.I saw a blanket made with it on pinterest but the yarn they used was discontinued they said.
well I just got inside from the garage breaking down cardboard boxes. We seem to collect a lot of those and even tho I save some to mail the grandkids' presents, I sure don't need THAT many. I don't know how much of the cardboard will fit into the garbage bin this week but we can always put in the rest next time.
So now I'm going to sit and crochet for awhile then organize the stuff I have on the bottom of the baker's rack.
See you all later

I made one of the bracelets.I love how it looks. If I had had the correct yarn it would have been really easy and fast but I used the Peaches and Cream because it called for cotton and that's all the cotton I had or I thought I had. I remembered in the middle of doing that one that I have a string type yarn that I think would be fantastic for this. I think these bracelets would really go over well in a craft fair toward the end of the year. People would want to buy them for Christmas presents. As I mentioned I didn't have the fasteners so I just made it in a joined circle but I do think I have some lobster clasps and rings to I may try those. It would be better for people buying them at craft fairs so that they would have one that would fit on anyone's wrist. Oh and CJ, thanks for the comment on the avatar . Of course I'd never win because I don't do lotteries.

OK so now my iPad is acting up so I'm using Siri on my phone let's see how this goes Ruth, thanks for leaving the bracelets and instructions the bracelets are so pretty and I love the natural look. I agreed they would do great in the craft fair. As far as the blue yarn that I used in the baby afghan that was red heart supersaver. I'll see if I can find the name of the color. I know I did get the yarn in Walmart.
CJ congratulations on getting that binding done so well! Practice makes perfect and just as you became better with bindings you'll get better with machine quilting too. It all takes time. But I'm super happy for you!
Mag well that sure stinks that you lost your needle! We've all done that before. And sometimes you just can't find the right size needle either so even your replacement might not be perfect. Glad you're weaving and some of the ends on the Afghan and I'm sure that baby blankets coming along real well.
Phil I hope that you're staying out of trouble and have a lot of fun!
Today was busy. I gardened after dinner trying to get some lilac bushes moved. I really don't like gardening. But I want to clean up this one area of the yard so that it looks better. Guess I'm going to go eat and get ready for bed. Have a great night. Ginny

Good morning everyone.
Ginny, I don't know if I mentioned but I dislike gardening too. I like the results of gardening but not the actual work of doing it.My gardening today is going to consist of watering my little seedlings.
I hope you get to go to Micheal's. We don't have one here. When I was back in NY 11 years ago...wow it sure doesn't seen that long.... I was near one and my friend who was driving me to the one mall there asked if I wanted to go in when I commented on it but I was more interested in going into the mall. Mostly because I was afraid I'd buy too much and have no room in my luggage to bring it home. Plus there's so much to look at.I do wish we had another store like that again here.
I don't know what the weather is to be later but it's only about 60 right now. Very pleasant. So I'm going to get started doing a few chores maybe.
Have a safe trip, Ginny. And the rest of you please all have a great day.
btw, Ginny, how's your dd's house hunting going?

OK I'm going to attempt a voice text again. I only have a few minutes before I have to go back to work. Ruth I dislike gardening because it seems as though the minute you're done weeding more weeds are back. So it never stays. But like you I like the way it looks after you're done. But I would much rather be inside playing with fabric or yarn then outside getting dirty. Our daughter did find a house.
We are praying that the closing dates on her house works out so that you'll always have a place to live in while but during the transition. Hope you're able to get some chores done today. And some crafting time too! I'll know in a few minutes if I'll have time to go to Michael's or not . It will all depend on if I have to drive my route in addition to the sports trip. How are your seedlings coming up? When is the weather ok to put them in the dirt? I know for here, the rule of thumb is Memorial Day.
Hi to Meg Phil and CJ! Have a great day. Ginny

Ginny, many years ago after my family moved us all up to NY we would go back to Pa every Memorial Day to put flowers on family graves then we woulld have a big family get together with the aunts and uncles that still lived there and the others that came. My grandfather always claimed he couldn't come even though he lived right there because he was always planting and had to plant before Memorial day. I never could figure out why he couldn't plant the day before or the day after. here we usually can't plant outdoors until about the 4th of June. I probably mentioned before that people do it, though, every year because they always think the current year is going to be different and every year their stuff freezes.DH is worried because he thinks the tomato seedlings are too small. Well I remember that last year he said the same thing but by the first of June they were fine and after putting them outdoors they grew with leaps and bounds. in no time they had blossoms. His pepper plants though have jusst now come up. Luckily they're staying indoors
I keep forgetting about voice recognition messages. My dd tried it and it didn't work well for her. I know I tried just calling people by saying their name but that never worked for me. I guess our voices aren't ones that can be understood well by those programs. It seems to have worked great for you. I do like typing better than talking though anyway but I should try the voice thing again in case my keyboard dies too. It does act up sometimes
I haven't done anything but work on the shawl and look for a beading thread I have somewhere. I didn't find the thread so went back to the shawl. So no chores yet. I did put a row of the yellow in and it looks great. As I said, I was skeptical
CJ, Meg, and Phyl...I hope you're all having a good day

Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well today Ruth - That bracelet looks nice, did you put beads in yours too? Ginny - Glad to hear you got some gardening done. I don't like gardening either, I've never had a green thumb I always hear my father's voice this time of year saying don't ever put a vegetable plant in the ground before May 10th Meg and Phyl - Hope you are doing well today I didn't get any crafting in today, but I did go to a Fabric Store I'd never been to before. It was a very nicely set-up store. Very well lit and all the fabric was arranged by color or theme and very well marked. I picked up a small piece of fabric to do the binding on my mini-wholecloth medallion quilt and a few more packs of John James quilting needles, since I seem to like working with those. Take care everyone!

CJ, I love fabric shops and that one sounds great. That counts as crafting Yes I put the beads in the bracelet. I wanted to do another today with some other beads I have but the holes in the beads are too small. I think I can make it work though but just using a smaller hook to pull the yarn thru the bead then I can switch back to the larger hook to do the single crochet and chain Phyl, you don't have to have much patience to do this bracelet. Despite the fact that it looks complicated reading the instructions, it really isn't and it doesn't take long at all to make one. No you can't go to a quilt shop without buying something so you did good, Phyl! As soon as I find my other yarn/cord I'm going to make another.

Survived today......the end of the school year is fast and furious. It's going to get worse before it all ends for the summer.
Ruth, I do think that the voice recognition systems have to get used to your voice. It's not a perfect system though. Glad your pepper plants just came up, those seeds have a very long germination period. I enjoyed the story of your grandpa and planting on Memorial Day. My mom was sort of like that too! It was almost as though the crop would be doomed if planted a day late or early. To
CJ, going in that fabric store is crafting, so is buying needles and fabric! So May 10 is planting time for you? Makes sense to me, 2 weeks before my area.
Phyl, I hope Sadie wins that machine too! Make that Irish chain! It's easy!
Drove a sports trip and while they were playing I got some emblroidery done. Glad tomorrow is Friday Good night ginny
