We are walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and some do other exercise. We set goals and keep track by miles. You can set your goal for any amount, count your miles any way you wish. The goal is consistency with exercise.
We started Jan. 20, 2003 on the WW Challenge Central Board as "250 Miles by June 1" & we've done 35 five-month walking challenges, including the one we finished Oct 1, 2016.
The group challenge is to average about 2 miles a day, 13 miles a week, or 50 miles a month; if you do it, in 5 months you will have walked 250 miles, and if you have stuck with the challenge and a healthy eating program for that 5 months, you will see wonderful changes in your health, fitness, and size!
Some people will finish well before the target date & will go for more or another 250 miles, but others will go at a slower pace, and new members will join along the way, so each member is welcome to set her/his own personal goal and target date. The new group challenge which started Oct 1, 2016, is "250 Miles by March 1, 2017."

Good Morning!!
I hope everyone had a very Nice Christmas. Thanks for the congrats, highly doubt I will be there this week. Eating has not been very good since Thursday. No formal exercise either. I will do a DVD later and try and get back on track. I had a nice Christmas eve with the DH's oldest daughter and her family. We celebrated at his youngest daughters for breakfast. Her youngest was so excited from the moment we walked in the door. He and his sister call me Mimi. She doesn't believe but was excited with her new clothes. We finished the day with my boys coming over for a light meal of ham, mac and cheese, goodies, and some cocktails.
I am off today and other than laundry and a DVD I am going to relax. Looking forward to January 7th when I will celebrate with my brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and their children. My one sister just has an open house and whoever can stop by does. I love seeing the little ones interact with their cousins
Cait: Great job with staying with your exercising through the Holidays. I have been in a funk the last few weeks. Hope you enjoyed your time with your family.
Nancy: Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Raking leaves is good exercise.
Amy: Glad to see you posting again. I missed your posts. Hope you enjoyed your time with your friend at IHOP and the dinner at Russ's
Waving to all!! Happy Walking and Skinny vibes too.

Good Morning Walkers!
Yesterday's Christmas gathering was so nice! I didn't get around to making 4 of the many things I said I was going to make, or wrapping some last minute gifts, but I was ok with that. I did the main things and let the rest go. I took a breath several times and centered myself in a mindful way as the time for family's arrival approached and I still needed to shower, and that old frantic feeling arose, and I was still chopping and mixing and washing dishes, and it became clear I wasn't going to make my goal of being done with prep by noon and showering and everything perfect when people started arriving at 2. Well I was ready by 2, everyone was late, and things were ok and there was way more food than needed and it was all delicious.
My DD#1 & her DH brought a Little Tyke bounce house that they set up in our driveway, the kids loved it, & they also enjoyed some of the things I had prepared for them.
The outdoor heater really helped - we had the beverage table out on the deck so that helped reduce congestion indoors. The outdoor table & chairs ended up used by the kids and some parents while the rest of us ate inside.
I stayed in my green zone of pts, no exercise but I did JGTB after DH & I cleaned up. Now to stay in my green zone of pts today. The day after an event is risky for me for overeating. There are lots of desserts and snack foods left over. I didn't have any except a few chips, because they are too risky for me for overeating. I don't feel I missed out on enjoyment. I actually realize I was able to enjoy the event more because I wasn't obsessing over this food and that one - how much - can I? - shouldn't - I wanna! - just this one - is anyone noticing? - all that noisy discussion in my head just not going on, so I was able to focus on the hosting duties and enjoying the people. I feel at peace about food and eating. A miracle. Thank you God.
Another WW friend uses "You Don't Have To Eat It" as a mantra.
KELLY - GFY with the plan to enjoy the day & the event at your sis's. I loved seeing DGDs Payton & Lily playing with their cousins here yesterday. And of course seeing my bros newest grandkids - the 6 month old cousin that 18 month old DGD Lily kept trying to hug, and the 1 month old cousin, my grandnephew I hadn't even met yet. I got to hold him for quite a while đ
AMY - GFY with sticking to your plan. I've Been There Done That, regaining weight and going back to old eating habits. You are not alone. We can and do pick ourselves up and get back on track. Sharing here helps. Using the tools that work helps - doing my HHs really helps me. {{hugs}} I track my pts on the paper tracker WW gives out. For me it's easier than e-tracking. And more visceral, real, immediate. I've been doing it so long, over 13 years, that it's just normal for me. I carry it in my purse and keep it next to me at the table at home.
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good afternoon,
I had a very nice Christmas, but I too am glad it is over. I walked two miles each day and this morning. I stayed within my point range, really felt good about that.I just decided To not overeat everything in sight. Attitude for me, I am my own worst enemy. Like Cait said those voices in my head. I like the saying You don't have to eat it. I am going to use that.
Glad everyone had a good weekend. Have a good evening. Nancy

FYI - I've been enjoying this "Meditation for Real Life" series on NY Times, and it actually helped me yesterday - I did it as I was chopping veggies and washing dishes and wrapping gifts. It helped me not be so frantic or caught up in my own "stuff" that I forget to enjoy the moment: www.nytimes.com/column/meditation-for-real-lifeIt's a once a week article on subjects like "How to be mindful while wrapping presents" Another blog I was looking at had good suggestions about staying on track during the holidays, a "Holiday Survival Guide" for attending events, not losing track of who we are and how we want to eat, drink, etc.: mrsponsorpants.typepad.com/mr_sponsorpants/holiday-survival-guide/NANCY - GFY staying within your point range on Christmas! Yes, "You don't have to eat it," and another reminder for me: "It's not about the food!"

Good Morning!!
Well, I got into the snack mix and some cookies last night. Never did do a DVD but did a little stepping in place. I did take an exam yesterday. I have done nothing with my studies for almost 2 months. I have 3 writing assignments that I need to buckle down and get done. I am starting today and trying to stay on track. Awoke with a stiff neck and a headache.
My heart hurts for my DH. His oldest daughter never even asked him how his surgery went and then she had a post on facebook about who she spent Christmas eve with and never mentioned us. Everything he has done over the years and it's like a slap in the face. I keep my mouth shut as he already unfriended my years ago when I would post pictures of the fun things I did with the youngest grandson. She got jealous, which is stupid as she never asked us to watch her boys. All I know is life is short and we are not guaranteed tomorrow. I hope she does not live to regret all the hurt she has caused her father.
Amy: Good job getting back to healthier eating.
Cait: Great job sticking to your plan. Glad you enjoyed your Holiday. I am glad the deck space was able to be used.
Nancy: Good job with your miles. I have been in a funk. I need to step it up. I already have 250 miles but way behind my usual totals.
Waving to all. Happy Walking and skinny vibes.

Good Morning Walkers!
No exercise yesterday. Just didn't feel like it last night. But I did stay in my green zone of pts even though we finished off a leftover open bottle of wine with our dinner. I did JGTB. What a life changer that has been, to finally accept that I need to JGTB around 10 pm and just become willing to let go of my late night TV watching. Most of my OOC eating is then. OK I miss my old habits. But I'm enjoying the peace with food and eating much more. You can't "have your cake and eat it too!" Some things just had to change, for me to change.
I turned down an offer to bring home some candy & nuts from work gifts left at the office. Just too risky. I did bring home some little Belgian choc cookies I think I can pass on to my Mom and the caregiver.
DH is eating the leftover desserts and what he doesn't eat we will give away or toss. "You don't have to eat it." We are eating the leftover salads as our dinner. He is eating the leftover ham & turkey for his lunches.
I got some office work done yesterday. Not as productive as I wanted but "better than" nothing and less.
Today we're going to DD#2's house to see the progress on her yard & have lunch. She has a huge lot on a hillside and has done a lot of work terracing and putting in retaining walls, raised beds for vegs, and landscaping with native plants. We haven't been over there in several months. I tell her she is a "native plant snob."
KELLY - oh those snack mixes - the food companies know what pushes our buttons, don't they. Salt sugar fat and textures. Can't stop eating them if I start, and can't stop from starting. GFY getting back on track. Sorry about the hurts with DHs DD âšī¸ The Serenity Prayer helps me with hurts like this. GFY stepping in place & taking an exam & getting back on track with studies
AMY - GFY back to healthy eating.
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good Morning!!
Wow, my work day was crazy. Lots of patients calling in with problems. My new coworker is doing quite well. I did not get in a DVD as it was late when I got home. Took my youngest DS to meet some friends for his ride back to NYC and ran into an accident that delayed my arrival home. I had a few errands to run after that so just ran out of time and was tired. I pretty much had a dull headache all day. Feeling good this am. It will be late when I get home today as taking the oldest DS to Texas Roadhouse as he leaves to return to SC tomorrow. As long as I feel well after I finally get home I will do a workout this eve.
Cait: The snack mix was the homemade snack mix I make every year for gifts for the Holidays. Yes I will have to pack up some of the goodies and give them away or throw away, too.
Waving to all. Happy Walking

Good Morning Walkers!
Yesterday we had a good day - drove into LA to visit DD#2 and see her landscaping and new plants. She is very excited about her native plant garden. She researches a lot about the subject. She & her fella and DH & I walked 1.7 miles to & back from a restaurant for lunch - a nice selection of regular as well as vegan and vegetarian options, and craft beers. I had a nice meal & 1 beer, more pts than my usual, but not bad. The trafficky drive was stressful for DH but he enjoyed the day, and as soon as we got home, he sacked out for a "long winters nap," just like Santa.
I stayed in my yellow zone of pts for the day, didn't snack when we returned home, as has been my habit in the past. I just went in the living room and read and rested. Thank you God. Had a good low pts dinner and my regular evening snack. I was tempted several times to eat the sugar and salty snack and dessert foods, but prayed my way through it and was relieved and grateful when the urges passed. I did JGTB although there was that urge to stay up late and tuck into some of that food. But I just stuck to the plan. Every time I don't overeat after an event is an NSV. Not overeating after the Christmas event and in the days following such a big event was an NSV for me. I'm sailing in new seas here but not uncharted and not some, and so grateful.
It's off to work for me today and planning to be productive.
KELLY - so nice to hear the new coworker is doing well. A blessing! Re the leftovers - I could toss or give away the snack and dessert foods, but DH is enjoying them and he doesn't have my compulsive eating problem. If he doesn't finish them before they go bad, I'll toss them. There is something stuck deep in my brain that says "Don't waste food!" My Granny used to say "Eat it and save it." Sheesh that was a bad strategy for me! Of course they were coming from a world where food scarcity was a problem. I'm grateful I'm not feeling so compelled to "eat it and save it."
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good evening,
I just realized that I didn't post yesterday, but I did walk two miles. I walked three miles today, I am going to try hard to do it every day to catch up for being lazy in November.
Kelly glad your co worker is helping your work load.
Cait GFY staying out of the leftovers and snacks. I too was told not to waste food as a child , and that is hard to get that message out of my head. I have to be careful not to tell my grandchildren that.
Waving to Amy.

Good Morning!!
Late again til I got home so only managed a little 1 mile walk in place. I was tired. Eating was fair. Getting a little snow today.
Cait: Sounds like a nice time. Good job getting in a walk too. It always amazes me how men usually can just fall asleep anywhere.
Nancy: Good job with your miles. I was told the same thing as a child. I tried not to say that to my children when they were growing up. I refrain from saying it to the grandchildren.

Good Morning Walkers!
I marched in place last night 1 hour while we watched TV = 3 miles, stayed in my green zone of pts and JGTB. Good HH day.
I went to my monthly WW WI today and my weight is down 1.4 lbs from last month. Still getting accustomed to this slow rate of weight loss but grateful that it is a loss. I've been noticing my clothes are not as tight, yay! NSV.
I did read another article about the pound of fat and how many miles of blood vessels - 1 mile per pound. So even 1.4 lbs is a good relief on my heart, reducing its workload.
Today I will be especially careful how I eat because I have a history of overeating after weighing myself. The scale info is just data. Just feedback on one measurement of what's going on in my body. Not a judgment on my character. Not my opponent or my friend or a little god.
Also need to stay aware because we are going to lunch with my bro & SIL.
KELLY - GFY doing 1 mi even though you were tired & it was late
NANCY Good job with the 2 mile & 3 mi & trying to do a little more

Good evening,
Kelly you do great at getting in a few miles even when tired. GFY!
Cait GFY a loss! Sometimes slow is better, I always want several pounds loss, I can gain it that way.
I walked three miles today, my Fitbit died on me but my TM showed three miles. I went to WW today, I was down .8#. I have been trying to watch portion control. Because if something taste good I just keep eating.
