Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and your weather is nice. It's warm and sunny here. Ruth - I'm glad you are making progress on your projects. Ginny - I'm glad you found the needles for your machine and that you don't have to send it away for servicing. Sue - Hope you are having a good day. Phyl - Hope you are feeling well and getting some quilting done. I finished the blocks for Summer Camp and Moda Blockheads this morning and then figured out how I want to layout the blocks for the floral version of Summer Camp. I'm still a bit undecided about the layout for the tonal version. There is just one more block left to make, so I'm going to start putting the floral version quilt top together up to the point where I'll have to add the last block. I have so many other projects I want to make that I'm going to really try to take a break from the weekly quilt alongs. I don't mind the monthly ones as long as I don't get into too many of them I'll keep going on the Moda one until September, even though I have thought about quitting. Take care everyone!

Dh and I went out to take care of some errands including grocery shopping. We got back home, put away the perishables then I had to rest for a couple hours (my keyboard is playing games with me)... because I was exhausted. Then I had to put the rest away except for the canned goods that go downstairs. That will wait.
Ginny, I'm glad to see that you got the needles you needed and on sale too!! And I'm glad you don't have to have your machine sent away.
CJ, I can imagine that while you're doing the weekly QAL's that you are thinking of what other projects you could be doing. I'm the same.
Now I may have to rest by crocheting the rest of the evening.

Ruth, crocheting this evening sounds like a wonderful way to detox and rest. Yes those canned goods can wait and can be put away tomorrow. And it sure stinks that your keyboard is acting up. I know I am not happy when my keyboard is not behaving.
CJ- personally I do not know how you keep up with so many QALs! Good to hear that you have figured out the layout for the floral version of the summer camp quilt, now onto the tonal version.
Just got home from a really nice free concert a town over. Very good band, I have heard them before and they are very worth listening to. The rain held off for the concert, which was good.
Sleep well! Ginny

This afternoon I have crocheted another three inches on the scarf I started about a month ago. It's an inexpensive tweed that goes from jade to blue to purple and pink. I'm using half double crochet, leaving the color change to the yarn. I don't know whether it's a gift or for me.
My first sweep through some boxes of papers yielded a surprise of several sets of crochet hooks which I have put with other crochet hooks. I'm sure there are more. This is like a treasure hunt.

I went to bed early last night so got up early this morning. I know it's not early to a lot of people but to me 8:30am is early. It's hot already too.
Ginny, I'm glad to hear that you were able to go to a concert and enjoyed it.
Sue, what a nice surprise to find those hooks. I often wonder what happened to the ones I used to have. Crochet hooks can't just walk away on their own but that seems to be what happened to mine. I know I don't have any boxes packed that they're hiding in. The color of your yarn sounds beautiful!
Last evening I started on the other dino pattern and realized that it's going to be huge so I think I need to start over with a smaller hook.

Hello Everyone Ruth - I hope that you sleep better tonight. Getting up at 8:30 is a little early for me too - or at least I wake up but then lie in bed and read I have such unbroken sleep, getting up every 3-4 hours, and it's worse in the summer with the heat. Hope you can work on the dino pattern today. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to go to the concert and that you enjoyed it. Sue - What a nice surprise to find some crochet hooks. The colors in your yarn sound beautiful, I'm sure the scarf will be lovely. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. It was warm here today, but cloudy all day so not as hot as it could be. I was able to get a lot of work done last night and this morning on the two Summer Camp quilt. This quilt has 3 rows and I have already assembled the first two rows and sewed them together and the third row is started, I'm just waiting for the last block to come out next week. I also cut all the strips for for the inner and outer border for each of these quilts and I hope to get those strips joined this weekend. That will really make it easy to finish these tops next week. I do have lots of projects I want to be working on, and that's why I'm realizing that I'm not really enjoying all these quilt alongs. Hopefully I can get my focus set on what I really want to do regarding quilting. Here are pictures of my two Summer Camp quilt tops. Hope you all have a good weekend! Floral version - the last block will use blue fabric. Tonal version, the last block will be green fabrics:

Happy Friday!
Sue, yes that scarf sounds so pretty. HDC is such a pretty and an easy stitch to work with. (Hint hint….if you like this scarf, keep it for yourself!). Enjoy the treasure hunt. Hope that you find more interesting things than crochet hooks- but of course they are good to find..
Ruth, well hot weather can make a person tired/lacking energy. It must be very warm where you are if you are noting that it was very warm at 8:30 am. And what a shame that the Dino pattern is going to be so huge- yes guess its time to start over with a smaller hook. Bummer
Today I ended up getting my housework in . Got up reasonably early this am and went to have the car serviced. They told me that it is going to need a new battery, and well it’s approaching that age, so I agreed to that. The last thing I want is a dead battery on a cold winter day.. glad its done, along with the oil change. DD and DSIL were here when I got back and they came to pick up their cats, who I had cat sat for all week. Good to see them of course but my cats are very glad to have that room back (its a somewhat large room-). So I saw them for awhile, and then figured I better vacuum that room. the amount of cat fur I got was a shock. Glad I vacuumed and cleaned the vacuum cup.
I might have some wifi issues for a day or so….lets see. I will get here when I can. And I did hear back from the machine repairman, and will absolutely be contacting him once I finish this panel quilt. He will need the machine for about 2 weeks (that is his backlog) and I will take it to his home/place of business but its better than mailing my machine.

CJ- the quilt tops are pretty. (I have a personal preference for the floral version, but know you like the tonal version better). Anyway, glad you have made such good progress on both and are down to making a final block for each an assembling and attaching the final row. I do not blame you if you do slow down a bit and just work on monthly QAL’s or whatever you like to do. Pick the best of the best, and perhaps you can (with less to do to be worried about) really enjoy the process of fabric selection. I know fabric selection is stressful for you- just as it is for everyone.

I really like that tonal version a lot,CJ. I'm not much of a floral person.
Ginny,it's great that the sewing machine repairman contacted you.As you said it just is better to have it near rather than being mailed where anything can happen to it. I bet you were glad to get all the cat hair vacuumed up after having extra cats for a time.
I did start the dino over and even though it's still pretty big,it's a more reasonable size. I got the head and nose done. This is a pattern translated from another language and the translation is somewhat lacking.I'm sure that when the person writing the pattern did row I of the nose she said 11 stitches instead of 7.And besides that the said chain 7 instead of making 7 stitches into the magic circle. Here's how it's stated online... 7ch, sc5,inc 1,sc5. Well working in 11 stitches like that would be a little difficult in only 7 places to put them. And all the parts of the dino are worked in the round.
Dear Indiana grandaughter #4 did decide what she wanted me to make for her and sent me a pattern link. It's for a diagonal basketweave blanket which is something I've never done so it will be another learning experience for me.I'm just waiting to find out what color/colors she wants and I'll start it and alternate it with the dino. The basketweaves diamond shapes are small. The pattern shown is made with chunky yarn but I told dgd that it may be a little too hot for their home plus it's such a dense stitch that it would be heavy. I'd love to do it in chunky because I have a lot of it and don't use it often.
I also found a hat pattern to add to my donate list.
Have a great evening...well night now.I didn't realize it was this late.

Oh my Ruth! Your grandkids really are going to keep you busy crocheting. Perhaps the pattern your DGD will be easy to follow and with few corrections needed. And I am glad to hear that the new Dino is a bit smaller, albeit still large. Regarding both of CJ’s lovely quilts, for me the reason I prefer the floral version is just cause I like the color scheme better. Its a simple as that and of course we all have our own personal taste.
See ya later G

Hello Ruth - Your grandkids pick really interesting patterns/designs - they know you can make them Ginny - Hope you've had a good day. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It was cooler here today, which is nice. I'll take any summer days with temps below 90 degrees Thanks for your kind words on my quilt tops, I'm happy with how they are working out. I hope than when they are done I can say that I love them. This morning I joined a bunch of inner and outer border strips. For the Tonal quilt I'm going to add a strip of the light purple on each side to tie in to the top and bottom. Then I'll put a yellow inner border around all of that and a dark purple border as the outer border. For the floral quilt, I'm using the off white to put an inner border and I think I will add cornerstones in the blue fabric. Then the larger outer border will be the floral fabric. I had thought about trying to add the yellow and mint fabrics in the borders, but I don't have the mental energy for that I cut 2 strips for each of the 4 sides on the quilts and also for the two sides of the tonal quilt - so that was 10 sets of strips to join. These quilts will go together quickly now that all that work is done. Moda Blockheads put out a bonus block yesterday, there are 8 of them altogether and this was the 7th, so just one left. I cut the fabrics for that too and hope to get it put together tomorrow. And I cut some fabrics for a quilt I've had on my mind for awhile now. It's like the Keyhole quilt from MSQC, but I'm modifying it to use a full strip of fabric in the middle instead of 3 squares. I think there is a Villa Rosa pattern company design that shows this and they staggered the rows, which I might do. Here it is: villarosadesigns.com/collections/digital-rosecards/products/digital-cathedralI would love to make it in those fabrics they show on their pattern!!! But I'm trying something different and I'm using a layer cake. So first I cut the layer cake pieces into two parts - a 6.5 inch piece (by 10 inches) and a 3.5 inch (by 10 inches) piece. Then I cut the 6.5 inch by 10 inch piece into 4 strips - 2.5 inches each - kind of making my own strips. I also cut the center strip fabric into a 2.5 by 6.5 strip - I'm just using a white fabric for the center. It's going to be interesting But I do hope it turns out alright. I also bought some fabric today. I know I don't need anymore, but I have loved this fabric and it's several years old but I keep seeing it coming up so I gave in and bought some on Etsy. I'm thinking I might use it for a Pat Sloan "Oh My Stars" quilt. Here are two different looks at it: www.etsy.com/listing/1171850377/packed-blue-sea-shells-navy-blue-natural?click_key=0fa260282e228a27523f5cc6f5dbd92a3c4be1a9%3A1171850377&click_sum=0b0a67e4&ref=hp_rv-1&sts=1www.fabric.com/buy/0805536/timeless-treasures-beach-dreams-packed-seashells-blue - I think this one is a bit darker than it really is Hope you are all having a good day and getting to do some crafting. Take care!

CJ. I love the floral version!
Yesterday I saw the doctor to catch up on neglected medical issues. My ch to my surprise, the ekg showed that I had a heart attack, some time since my previous ekg in May 2018. I was completely unaware!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It was cooler and cloudy here today, which is nice. Sue - I'm sure you were shocked to hear you'd had a heart attack, hopefully it didn't do any damage. Thanks for your kind words about my quilt. Ginny, Ruth and Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting done. I worked on my keyhole quilt blocks this morning and got all of them made (I'd already cut all the pieces, so it was just chain piecing). The layer cake I'm using said it had 40 pieces but when I counted them there were only 39 pieces! I can't even remember where I bought this layer cake from, and it's not a big deal with this quilt, but it sure could have been for a different pattern. I was able to cut some extra pieces from the scraps to make the three extra blocks I needed to come up with 42 blocks. I decided to just lay them out 7 across and 6 down. That worked out to be a more balanced looking quilt than staggering the rows. So I hope to get it sewn together this week and also finish the Moda Blockhead blocks. The new color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge in August is orange, so I'm hoping to get those pulled and those blocks made early in the month instead of late like July. Take care everyone!

Sue, One time at my doctor's office she told me the same thing. I asked her what that meant as far as anything needing to be done and she said there was nothing and it sounded like she didn't think it was going to be any problem. She closed her practice and anytime I've had an EKG after that nothing was said about that issue but I did find out I had left bundle branch block. So lets hope and pray that your evidence of a previous heart attack is nothing to worry about either. CJ I went to the links, love the blocks and I really love the fabric. Ginny I hope you had a relaxing day and were able to do some things you enjoy. I'm working on the dino and today was making the legs. Well it took me all day to do two legs and one is larger than the other so I'm going to make another and see which one it matches. Now I have besides that, two arms and the 6 little bobbles they have on the back and head but I might make the triangle back and head spikes used in most dino patters. I think they'll be easier and faster. Then comes the chore of sewing it all together
