I just found out that women have eyelash lifts done to their eyelashes. The technician curls the eyelashes and then puts a chemical on the lashes, so they stay bent until the next appointment. The pictures of the result look nice but I'm not sure I would want to have someone working that close to my eyes, plus I'm not that into how I look.
What do you think?

Sounds scary, Judy. I had a friend that went regularly to get her eyelashes and eyebrows dyed and her lashes curled. I never wanted to get started with that stuff; too much maintenance. I do wear makeup and use mascara daily but I didn't want to do anything more than that. As you said, I would worry about someone working that close to my eyes.

I just started getting my eyebrows dyed. I did it because my eyebrows are starting to fade away (as in getting lighter). I have been very happy with the results. I asked about the permanent color and found it would be quite expensive. So I opted for just doing the dying. This way I don't use makeup unless I'm getting really dressed up. The darker eyebrows give my eyes more definition.

I'm too lazy to bother with that. Same goes when my hair goes grey. I already told my stylist that when it goes grey, it's staying that way. ETA: I should have also added that I'm also too cheap.

Not sure I'd be comfortable with someone putting a setting solution right next to my eye.

I wouldn't let anybody (that isn't an eye doctor) anywhere near my eyes.

I already get my eyebrows waxed so I felt comfortable with the gal who does the waxing doing the eyebrow dying. Oh yeah, I also have my hair colored. If my hair would grow out to be a pretty gray I might go natural. But it's not.

Eyebrow dying is totally different to me. That is far enough away and solution doesn't drip into your eye, it is completely safe and woman have been doing that since hair dye has been around.
Coming near my eye with some solution that smells like a Toni perm?!? No way, no how. They'd have a better chance of me doing that dinner in the sky 😂🤣

I thought for half a minute about having my lashes dyed (a friend of mine has been doing it for years) but I also don't like the idea of dye being that close to my eyes. Years and years ago I was contemplating getting contact lenses but couldn't stand the thought of putting something in my eye. Then one day as I was digging around in my eye to get an eyelash out I thought "This is silly. If I can do this I can certainly deal with contacts."

When I was 16 my parents OKed contacts. That was when they were all hard lenses. Gave myself a couple of nasty abrasions (they are horribly painful) and my optometrist said that it wouldn't work. A year later he called and said "come on down." Bausch & Lomb had a soft lens he thought would work. Wore that style for decades.
Sadly, I hit the point where my eyes were changing because of age and now I'm back in bifocals.
Which has nothing to to with this thread, but Luanne reminded me.

Which has nothing to to with this thread, but Luanne reminded me. I finally had to stop wearing contacts as I kept having problems with my left eye. I did wear them for quite a few years though. Went to bifocals or graduated lenses. Now I'm back to no glasses thanks to cataract surgery. Another thing I thought I wouldn't be able to do, but it was a piece of cake.
Sorry for taking us off topic. But it's all related to the eyes, lol.

itsrad , luanne , It is all about the eyes. But off-topic is fine too. When I got my cataract surgery the doctor said I was the calmest patient he ever had. Oh, after I had the first eye done, I spent the time up until the second surgery looking at things with just the good eye, and then the bad eye just to see the difference. It was amazing.

If only I had enough eyebrow hairs to dye! So sparse I must draw and powder 'em in if I'm going full makeup. I've been using IT universal brow powder (I think it's called) and sometimes top it with Joan Rivers Great Hair Day scalp covering powder. I bought a shade Light Blonde that is useless for the scalp (back when I was coloring my hair) but is perfect for the brows. I have a friend who had her brows tattooed years ago. It looks good, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with the same shape and size forever. Depending on how glammed out I'm getting, sometimes I want a lighter colored brow. I think she had her lips tattooed as well. She always looks fabulous, but is quite the glamour queen.

Lani one of my former employees had her lips tattooed and I was surprised at how good it turned out! Lip tattoo sounds like it would turn out awful but she chose a warm baby pink lip gloss color and it was perfect.
Regarding eyelash lift, I would consider it. I put tweezerman CEOs kids through college with the number of eyelash curlers I’ve purchased over the years because my lashes grow straight out rather than upwards. If they could just be up for however long this lasts that would be cool. As it is I get stuff done on my face with needles so this seems less scary in comparison.

This brings to mind, what would you be willing to do for your looks?
I've never thought about having plastic surgery, but then I don't look that bad but I'm sure there is plenty of work that could be done. I had a friend and when we were in our mid-20's she was planning the plastic surgery she would have done when she was in her 40's. I'm a bit vain about hair color since I still have almost all of it even though I'm 75. Don't know how I will respond when I turn gray or white. I've just never been that into my looks.
